After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 102: Is Her Child Not a Person?
Sophia Shaw didn’t look at him.
This was the son she once would have fretted over for half a day for just a tiny scrape, yet now, she couldn’t even spare him a single glance.
All the love in her heart had been consumed, worn away by the harm he had inflicted on Bun time and time again!
Seeing his son’s miserable, pitiful state, Vincent Grant felt Sophia Shaw was going too far. "Just because Cedric was worried about the little girl he likes, he deserves to be treated this way?"
SLAP!
Sophia Shaw’s free hand slapped Vincent Grant across the face.
It was a slap full of rage and hatred.
The slap was incredibly, incredibly hard.
It knocked Vincent Grant’s head to the side.
Sophia Shaw’s tone was cold and grim. "So his ’little sister’ is a human being, but my child isn’t?"
Levin Sawyer was utterly disgusted with Vincent Grant. "Your precious son stomped on Bun, injuring her heart and lungs. We spent all night trying to save her. Two slaps is getting off easy!"
"If you don’t get your kid under control, next time he’ll pay with his life!"
With that, he shot a vicious glare at Cedric Grant.
He used to have a fairly good impression of Cedric Grant.
But after this incident, he couldn’t even stand to look at him!
While Vincent Grant was still stunned, Sophia Shaw left with Levin Sawyer.
Behind them, Cedric Grant was crying uncontrollably.
Tears streamed down his face.
’How could I have stomped on my sister and hurt her?’
’Mom doesn’t want me anymore. What am I going to do?’
"What kind of mother is she, hitting her son over such a small thing? I really spoiled Sophia Shaw too much!"
Chad Jennings blurted out.
The words had barely left his mouth when he received a dark glare from Vincent Grant.
It made him shiver in fear.
Yvonne Sherman and Joanna Sherman exchanged a look.
Joanna Sherman spoke up. "Vincent, I’ll look after Cedric. You should hurry and check on Sophia and the baby."
"At the end of the day, I’m the one who caused this. I’m willing to offer whatever compensation is needed or take full responsibility."
Yvonne Sherman looked at her daughter with pity. "Joanna didn’t mean to cause you trouble. It’s just that Stella was so sick."
"You were always the one to soothe her when she got sick. When she couldn’t find you this time, Stella just wouldn’t stop fussing."
"Joanna couldn’t calm her down, even after several nights. Her heart ached for the child, so she came running to you, not expecting to fall ill herself."
Vincent Grant said nothing, only watching Cedric Grant in silence.
Sophia Shaw returned to the hospital room.
The two slaps she had just given Cedric Grant weren’t hard, but they had drained all her strength.
She sank onto a seat by the hospital bed, weakly closing her eyes.
’Even though I didn’t ask for custody of Cedric, I never imagined it would come to this.’
’How could he neglect his own sister like that for some other child who has nothing to do with him?’
Levin Sawyer watched her, his heart aching for her.
She kept her eyes closed, her face as pale as a sheet of paper.
Her trembling brow spoke of her weakness, and she was enveloped in a heartbreaking aura of sorrow.
Levin Sawyer didn’t dare disturb her.
"No one’s dead in here, so stop the kneeling!"
Leah Evans’s angry voice came from outside.
Sophia Shaw finally opened her eyes and saw Leah Evans striding in with a food container, her expression thunderous.
As Leah closed the door, Sophia Shaw glimpsed two figures outside—one tall, one short.
Leah Evans placed the food on a table and glanced at Bun in the bed, her emotions in turmoil. "That father and son are truly disgusting. Last night, one abandoned you and your child at the Grant estate without a second thought, and the other stomped on his own little sister for some irrelevant person. And they still have the gall to show up here!"
Levin Sawyer glanced through the window and saw Vincent Grant standing outside with Cedric Grant kneeling on the floor. A look of disgust flashed in his eyes as well.
"Should I get rid of them?"
"No."
Sophia Shaw had no desire to concern herself with anyone but Bun.
How long Vincent Grant and Cedric Grant wanted to stay, or how long they wanted to kneel, was none of her business.
She gently tucked in the corners of Bun’s blanket.
Bun’s eyes fluttered open, and upon seeing her mother, she began to wail.
Tiny teardrops trembled on her eyelashes, the very picture of misery. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Her little lip quivered, turned down in a deep frown.
The little one was heartbroken, having been hurt for no reason at all.
Her body still ached.
Sophia Shaw carefully gathered her into her arms, so afraid of hurting her that she barely dared to touch her.
She only dared to press her own cheek to the little one’s face, gently trying to soothe her.
Seeing this, Leah Evans felt her heart break.
Tears began to stream uncontrollably down her face.
"What did Bun ever do to deserve this? Why does she have to suffer this pain?"
"She’s so small, so sweet. Anyone who sees her can’t help but fall in love with her."
"How could that father and son be so cruel?"
"How could he bring himself to do it!"
Sophia Shaw closed her eyes, her own eyelashes trembling uncontrollably.
She fought with all her might to keep her tears from falling.
Her silent grief was all the more heart-wrenching. Even Levin Sawyer felt a pang in his chest as he watched.
Leah Evans’s crying grew more intense.
How could either of them fail to see? It wasn’t that Sophia Shaw didn’t want to cry. Her heart ached so much for Bun that she refused to let her daughter bear the weight of even a single one of her tears.
The room was large enough and had everything they needed.
Sophia Shaw didn’t take a single step out of the room.
That way, she wouldn’t have to face the father and son.
Levin Sawyer even drew the curtains. Out of sight, out of mind.
A little after four o’clock, there was finally some commotion outside.
Old Mrs. Grant came striding over, supported by Miles Grant and Eleanor Crawford.
She was scolding as she walked. "How could you hide something this huge from me!"
"Did you think you could just pretend it never happened by keeping me in the dark?"
Miles Grant and Eleanor Crawford hung their heads under the verbal assault, not daring to utter a word.
They hadn’t told her because they were afraid the shock would be too much for Old Mrs. Grant.
Old Mrs. Grant naturally understood their intentions and let out a sigh.
"You two... Is my life more precious than Bun’s?"
"If something were to really happen to Bun, what would be the point of me staying alive? To live on in shame?"
"I’m sorry, Grandma," Miles Grant said quietly.
As the three of them walked on, they looked up and saw the two figures—one standing, the other kneeling.
Old Mrs. Grant was absolutely furious. She swung her cane and brought it down on Vincent Grant. "Look at what you’ve done! Just look at what you’ve done!"
Vincent Grant stood motionless, letting Old Mrs. Grant strike him.
Miles Grant and Eleanor Crawford didn’t know whether to intervene or not, so they could only stand by helplessly.
Cedric Grant, still kneeling on the ground, cried out, "Grandma Walsh, it was me! I’m the one who did wrong, I stepped on my little sister! Please, hit me instead!"
"The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! When a child does wrong, it’s because you, his father, failed to teach him properly!" Old Mrs. Grant yelled as she hit him.
Julian Grant had just gotten back from a mission last night when he heard what happened and came right after them.
Afraid Old Mrs. Grant would work herself into a state, he quickly took the cane from her. "Mom, let me do it. Just tell me to stop when you’ve let off enough steam."
"What good would letting off steam do me!" Old Mrs. Grant shouted with a sigh. "The ones who are hurt are Faye and her daughter!"
Old Mrs. Grant let go of the cane and began pushing and hitting Vincent Grant with her bare hands.
"Vincent, oh, Vincent, Vincent!"
’Sophia Shaw was already set on a divorce. It was my own selfishness, my own desire for them to reconcile, that made me insist they stay together.’
"How could you be such a disappointment!"
But no matter how disappointed she was in Vincent Grant, it wasn’t right to cause an endless scene in front of a hospital room.
Old Mrs. Grant turned to Julian Grant. "Get him out of my sight!"
"Grandma, I want to apologize to Faye in person," Vincent Grant finally said.
"If she really wanted to see you, would she have left you two hanging out here for this long?"
Old Mrs. Grant had always doted on Vincent Grant, but now all she felt was disappointment.
"You’ve hurt her more than enough. Don’t go in there and be an eyesore!"
Julian Grant waved a hand. "Drag him back and put him in confinement!"
"Aunt Eleanor," Cedric Grant whimpered.
He didn’t want to go.
His aunt had always been kind to him, so Cedric Grant could only turn to her for help.
Having no children of her own, Eleanor Crawford had always poured a great deal of affection onto Cedric Grant.
She almost never refused any of his requests.
But this time, she really didn’t want to speak up for him.
She turned her head away.
