After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 101: Cedric Grant’s Retribution: Mom, Don’t Abandon Me
"Levin."
Sophia Shaw forced herself to rally, trying to stand, but she couldn’t get up.
Levin Sawyer supported her, his heart aching for her. "Just stay seated."
Sophia Shaw was so weak she could barely sit upright.
Levin Sawyer gritted his teeth in anger. "That father and son from the Grant family are absolute animals!"
After his outburst, Levin Sawyer looked at Sophia Shaw with concern. "You’re incredibly weak right now. If you keep this up, you’re going to collapse from exhaustion before Bun even gets better."
"Listen to me. Go get some proper rest."
Sophia Shaw was, in fact, utterly exhausted.
Looking at Bun, whose face was still discolored, she knew Levin Sawyer was right.
She couldn’t afford to get sick.
If she fell ill and something else happened to Bun, there would be no one left to look after her.
Sophia Shaw nodded.
Afraid she might accidentally hurt Bun, she didn’t dare sleep in the same bed and instead climbed into the one next to it.
She knew she would never fall asleep if she faced Bun, so she forced herself to turn her back.
She curled into the tightest possible ball, her arms wrapped firmly around herself.
Levin Sawyer looked over at the other bed. Sophia Shaw was hidden under the covers, her body trembling uncontrollably. He knew she was crying.
Sophia Shaw needed this release, so he didn’t try to comfort her.
But the hatred in his own heart grew deeper and more intense.
By the time Leah Evans returned, Sophia Shaw had fallen asleep.
Even in her dreams, she was still sobbing uncontrollably.
She would occasionally murmur, "Don’t hurt Bun... Don’t... Please, don’t..."
Hearing this, Leah Evans felt her heart shatter, and tears streamed down her face.
Suppressing the pain in his own chest, Levin Sawyer said softly, "Look after Faye. I’m going to take a walk downstairs."
But Levin Sawyer wasn’t really going for a walk. He was going to find someone to hunt down Vincent Grant.
However, before he even reached the ground floor, he spotted the very person he was looking for.
Vincent Grant was hurrying over, protectively shielding Joanna Sherman, who was holding Stella Grant.
Following them were Yvonne Sherman and Chad Jennings.
The sight of this entourage pushed Levin Sawyer’s simmering rage to its boiling point. He charged forward and slammed a fist into Vincent Grant’s face.
Vincent Grant moved to dodge, but with a glance at Joanna Sherman and Stella Grant, he braced himself and took the full force of the blow.
"AH!" Yvonne Sherman shrieked, rushing to shield Stella Grant.
Chad Jennings roared in fury, "What do you think you’re doing?"
Vincent Grant pushed Joanna Sherman and Stella Grant to a safer spot before turning to face Levin Sawyer. "President Sawyer, I have no quarrel with you—"
Before he could finish the word, Levin Sawyer’s fist flew at him again.
"You have a problem with Faye, you have a problem with me!"
Seeing Vincent Grant under attack, Chad Jennings rushed over to help.
Levin Sawyer sent him staggering back with a single kick.
Yvonne Sherman scrambled after Chad Jennings, who had tumbled and slid across the floor.
Joanna Sherman, holding Stella Grant, cried out worriedly, "President Sawyer, what is the meaning of this? Are you going to pay if you frighten my child?"
Levin Sawyer shot her a vicious glare. "Your daughter is worthless!"
Vincent Grant seized the opening and landed a punch on him.
Levin Sawyer and he descended into a brawl.
The scene devolved into chaos.
It wasn’t until Leah Evans arrived that the two men were finally pulled apart.
Levin Sawyer was ready to lunge again, but Leah Evans whispered, "Faye’s awake."
Hearing that, Levin Sawyer clenched his fists but, for the moment, let Vincent Grant be.
"Why is Faye here?" Vincent Grant’s sharp ears caught the name, and he grabbed Levin Sawyer.
Levin Sawyer was seething. He spun around and smashed another fist into Vincent Grant’s face. "Do you even deserve to know?"
Leah Evans glared viciously at Vincent Grant. "You piece of scum!"
With that, she hurried back upstairs.
Vincent Grant, confused as to why Sophia Shaw was at the hospital, started to give chase.
Yvonne Sherman quickly stopped him. "Stella’s still sick, and your Uncle Jennings took a bad kick. He needs to see a doctor, too."
"Vincent!"
Vincent Grant looked toward Joanna Sherman.
Her eyes were cold and distant.
She held the child without a word, but her body swayed, once, then twice.
She looked as if she might collapse at any moment.
Her stubborn, independent posture was heart-wrenching to witness.
In the end, Vincent Grant helped Chad Jennings to his feet. "I’ll take Uncle Jennings for a check-up. You two watch Stella."
Even at a time like this, Vincent Grant’s first thought was still for the Shermans.
Leah Evans, who was running ahead, felt her heart ache with pain and hatred.
’That bastard,’ she cursed resentfully, ’I hope he dies a miserable death!’
When Leah Evans and Levin Sawyer returned to the room, they found Sophia Shaw sitting by Bun’s sickbed.
Levin Sawyer was still wondering how to explain the bruises on his face when Sophia Shaw’s piercing gaze shot toward him. "Is Stella Grant in this hospital?"
Levin Sawyer and Vincent Grant had been fighting for a solid ten minutes.
The two of them were already conspicuous figures, and a public brawl was even more so.
In just a few moments, the news had spread like wildfire.
Levin Sawyer and Leah Evans exchanged a look, unsure how to respond.
Sophia Shaw stood up. "Watch Bun for me."
With that, she walked out of the room.
Leah Evans didn’t dare to stop her and could only look to Levin Sawyer.
There was no way Levin Sawyer would let her go alone. He gestured for Leah Evans to look after Bun and followed Sophia out.
As Sophia Shaw walked downstairs, she asked, "Which room is she in?"
Levin Sawyer had already found out. "The VIP ward," he answered truthfully.
Sophia Shaw headed for the VIP ward.
"What are you doing here?"
The moment Sophia Shaw appeared, a nervous Yvonne Sherman moved to block her path.
She wouldn’t let her enter the room.
Levin Sawyer grabbed Yvonne Sherman, yanked her aside, and tossed her away.
Joanna Sherman grew frantic. "You’re trespassing! This is illegal!"
She grabbed her phone to call the police.
Levin Sawyer snatched the phone from her hand and threw it into a nearby trash can.
Cedric Grant ran out from an inner room. His face fell when he saw Sophia Shaw.
Still, he called out, "Mom."
Sophia Shaw looked at him.
Afraid that Sophia Shaw might do something to Stella Grant, Cedric Grant blocked the doorway.
Sophia Shaw shoved him aside and entered the room.
Outside, Yvonne Sherman and Joanna Sherman tried to follow but were blocked by the men Levin Sawyer had brought with him.
’The harm done to Sophia and Bun was too great,’ he thought. ’Today, even if Sophia wanted to kill someone, I’d let her!’
Sophia Shaw ignored the child in the bed, instead snatching the medical chart from the headboard.
As she read it, she began to laugh.
Tears streamed down her face.
"Pneumonia?"
Cedric Grant shouted from the doorway, "Mom, it was my fault! Don’t hurt the little girl!"
Sophia Shaw walked up to him.
"So, for a case of pneumonia, you trampled my child nearly to death?"
"N-Nearly to death?" Cedric Grant’s voice trembled.
’How is that possible?’
’How could I have stepped on someone?’
Although Cedric Grant didn’t want to admit it, he remembered the feeling from the moment he’d jumped up. It had felt higher than a bed, and softer, too.
The color drained from his face in an instant.
"I was just in a hurry!" he stammered.
SLAP!
Sophia Shaw’s slap struck Cedric Grant so hard he was rendered speechless.
"How can you hit a child!" Yvonne Sherman shrieked from outside, practically jumping up and down.
Joanna Sherman also cried out, "He’s your own son, Sophia! How can you bear to strike your own flesh and blood?"
Yvonne Sherman added pointedly, "No wonder Cedric likes you less and less!"
Sophia Shaw ignored their nonsense completely, not deigning to reply.
Levin Sawyer shot the two women an icy glare.
"Say another word, and I’ll beat both of you, too!"
Yvonne Sherman: "..."
Joanna Sherman: "..."
SLAP!
Sophia Shaw struck Cedric Grant’s other cheek.
Cedric Grant’s head was ringing from the blow, and tears streamed down his cheeks.
His mother had never, ever hit him in his entire life.
Sophia Shaw, turning a blind eye to his tears, struck him again. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Sophia!"
Vincent Grant burst into the room.
He grabbed Sophia Shaw’s hand.
"What are you doing?"
"He’s your son!"
"Not anymore."
Sophia Shaw couldn’t move, but her free hand was still clenched into a tight fist.
"From this day forward, Cedric Grant and I, Sophia Shaw, have nothing to do with each other!"
"If we ever see each other again, it will be as strangers!"
Cedric Grant clutched his face, tears streaming down his cheeks, as he stared at Sophia Shaw in disbelief.
"Mom..."
’Is Mom really going to disown me?’
Cedric Grant was utterly panicked. He shook his head frantically. "Mom, don’t! Please, don’t!"
"I’m still so little! Please don’t abandon me!"
