The Silver Knight chuckled, "Not quite, I still remember who my old man is."

While they horsed around, Laloyetie sighed. "My child, would you blame me, blame me for the decisions I made back then?"

The Silver Knight’s smile faded; he had intended to play up the mischief to dissolve the estrangement between father and son.

"Blame, but understand. Without your decisions back then, there would be no me now. At least, I’m quite satisfied with the present," he said.

The Dolfron family, as the loyal dogs of the Dolgette Royal Family, had a bold idea when Carlos decided to turn the City of Wandering into a multi-racial city in the early years. This family wanted to absorb all power and become the sharpest fangs of the royal family.

And now, the most powerful force was the Holy Light.

The heir to the Dolfron family, Laloyetie’s eldest son, became the test subject for this plan. Ravenyeti did not give his child a traditional mage education but instead put him through intense physical training. On his coming of age, he sought a master from the City of Wandering to brand his beloved son’s soul. For the rest of his life, he would be controlled by the brand, even if memories were lost or the soul twisted, the brand would not change.

What the Dolfron brand marked was loyalty to the Dolgette Royal Family.

Then he cast his eldest son at the doors of the Church of the Holy Light to learn the power of the Holy Light.

Now, his child had returned, having become an outstanding third-tier Paladin.

"The conflict I envisioned didn’t happen, and my child became a bright and cheerful person," Ravenyeti felt relieved.

"I should thank you, old man. Otherwise, I’d certainly be weak as you are, trembling with every step. Hahaha, seriously though, I could just give a light push and crack your old bones," he joked.

Laloyetie almost choked on these cheeky words but held back.

"My child, what level has your power reached now?" he asked.

"Third-tier, Silver Knight, but fighting a fourth-tier mage would be no problem at all. Dad, you didn’t study Holy Light, you have no idea, it’s like cheating, I’ve already dominated all of our family’s guards, in one word: thrilling."

A few more veins popped out on Laloyetie’s forehead as he took a deep breath and turned the page.

"Now that you are back, I’ll have some tasks for you," he said.

"I get it, taking over the family business, right? After all, the path of a Paladin is no longer viable for me; I can only return home to inherit the estate," he surmised.

"No, your brother will inherit the estate. You are a Paladin, what do you need a mage’s estate for?"

The Silver Knight shrugged, cleansed by the Holy Light, he really didn’t care for those things.

"Alright then, what do you need me to do?" he inquired.

Ravenyeti took out a delicate little box from his pocket, opened it, and inside was a ring set with an ice-blue gemstone that radiated cold light. As the glow emerged, the temperature in the entire room dropped a few degrees.

"Dad, this is indeed beautiful, but isn’t this some elemental mage’s equipment? What’s this for me, isn’t this a bit too tight even if you didn’t want to involve me in the family’s wealth?" he teased.

"You little rascal, I’ve been saving this for you. It’s an Ice Qi Stone, the core that remained after the Frost Elemental Lord died; it can help you absorb heat," his father explained.

"Ah, thanks, dad, but actually, I’m not that hot," he replied puzzled.

"It’s for saving your life, idiot. Your next mission can only be completed with its help," Laloyetie clarified.

The Silver Knight scratched his head; he wasn’t too fond of thinking.

"What exactly is the mission?" he wondered.

"Matchmaking," came the reply.

"Huh?" Although he was indeed getting on in years and at the age for marriage, matchmaking as a mission, and with such fanfare? Was the old man worried about me finding a partner? I mean, I am a Paladin after all, the world’s most dashing professional, no exaggeration, I walk down the street and there’s not a single human girl who wouldn’t want to be with me. What is the old man worrying about?

The Silver Knight slipped the Ice Qi Stone ring onto his hand.

"My son, remember, your mission is for the prosperity of our family. As a noble, you were born with a mission to carry on the family legacy and serve the monarch. And now, it’s time for you to make use of your accomplishments after returning," he said solemnly.

Crackle, crackle.

The sudden noise interrupted their conversation. The Silver Knight sensed danger, scooped up his father in one arm, leaped away from the sound, and stood at the ready, looking towards the direction of the noise.

It was the crackling sound of wood burning at high temperatures. In the line of sight, all light fabrics and papers began to curl and then burn, the temperature in the air was gradually rising, and the whole room felt like it was entering midsummer, and it was gradually turning into a fire scene.

With the sharp intuition provided by the Holy Light, the Silver Knight heard footsteps, a dangerous presence was getting closer, the steps mixing with the Silver Knight’s heartbeat.

An enemy, a dangerous enemy. The Silver Knight drew his Holy Light Warhammer and faced the growing pressure outside the door, spurting reflexively.

"What is that?" he questioned.

The shadow of Laloyetie, cradled in his son’s arms, whispered in his ear,

"If I’m not wrong, that might be my future daughter-in-law," he suggested.

"What?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Crackle, the burning door was pushed down to the ground, and standing outside was a shapely female.

Her black leather barely covered her bust and buttocks, her tawny skin reflecting the sunlight, and bright red scales, like jewelry, adorned her seductive body. Atop her head, horns like those of a goat topped with an eternal flame. She stood before the Paladin, the air around her visibly distorted by the heat. Even if her features were a blend of fiery wildness and gentle youth, the men who think with their lower parts would be deterred by the intense heat.
