Academic gathering with a lich
Chapter 407 - 377 Yino
"Lady Alianna, you have no idea how despicable that jerk was. While William and I were away, he actually tried to sell that damn counterfeit to my sister Fannila," Gulelia’s complaint continued. Lyle had always felt that this Succubus waitress harbored inexplicable feelings for the Naslan family, a mix of admiration and reverence. Although she was walking with Alianna, as picturesque as ever, it still gave Lyle a strange feeling.
"Don’t worry, Lyle, Gulelia won’t steal your companion. She’s just... as a Succubus, simply lecherous," William explained with a strange look on his face, "But the fact that she cares so much about Alianna suggests that she truly is the sister of the vampire proprietress, especially since they look so alike."
"Alianna is Beatrice’s biological elder sister."
"Hard to imagine, though Gulelia did whisper to me once about how the vampire proprietress uses alcohol to quench her bloodlust. With such a vampire auntie around, does your life often get thrilling surprises? Lady Alianna, being human must be tough."
She was a Lich, although at that moment, Alianna seemed more human.
"Indeed, life with the Naslans is often accompanied by surprises." But the surprises didn’t come from Beatrice. Compared to the sneaky banshee maid, who hid in sculptures and suddenly started speaking, the elder sister who popped out of nowhere, or Alianna’s impromptu singing, the vampire auntie could almost be described as harmless. "In all senses... difficult."
"But my life is still colorful," Lyle said as he sized up William’s attire. "Now, tell me about yourself, William. When did you become the law enforcer of the City of Wandering? Did you find your family? Your enemy? And how did you deal with Asura Field?"
William chuckled.
"I guess it was luck, just like Kevin. I met a benefactor who happened to be the head of the Arcanists and the lord of this city. He appreciated me and offered me this job, perhaps seeing potential in my Magic Power. As for Gulelia and Fannila... they are the honor of my lifetime. I think it’s time for me to let go of hatred, after all, what’s lost can’t return."
"The City of Wandering has become my new home, and I’m really enjoying everything here."
William paused for a moment, then looked at Lyle. "Actually... I have a theory, an unexpected one, but it keeps suddenly occupying my mind."
"What is it?"
"I have a strong feeling about the City of Wandering, a kind of... familiarity as if I’ve encountered it before. I feel like I know this land, even if it has been completely altered. I also have a sense of unconditional trust and closeness to that person."
"What are you feeling, William?"
William scratched his head, "Nothing, just insignificant delusions."
"If reality is as I suspect, then I may be too happy now."
"My grandfather had a passage in his notes..."
[Magic Power has both good and bad sides, and so does the world. Stubbornly pursuing the good side only upsets the fragile balance, destroying everything.]
"I’m happy now, Lyle, and if possible, I’d like it to stay that way."
Feeling William’s genuine emotions, Lyle offered him a simple blessing.
The conversation gradually shifted to the celebration in the City of Wandering. Amidst this lively atmosphere, the group returned to the Bloody Rose Bar.
Only some of them stepped into the bar. Gulelia led Alianna and Fannila inside, then blocked William at the entrance.
"Darling, could you please fetch my brother Candy for me? He’s been out for a while now. I know it’s supposed to be my responsibility, but I want to host a girls’ night with Lady Alianna, Fannila, and Lady Beatrice."
"We’re one, aren’t we, dear William? So, please do me this favor."
If we are indeed one, then let me be part of the girls’ night too.
William didn’t voice his thoughts; instead, he nodded and agreed with a smile, like a dog without complaints.
Lyle and Alianna exchanged glances as he came to a stop.
"Actually, I was hoping you would keep me company..." Alianna’s words filled Lyle with a profound sense of satisfaction.
"But I’d better exchange some feelings with my good brother before Beatrice personally throws me out, voluntarily leaving," said Lyle, knowing that Beatrice might indeed do such a thing, especially when someone shamelessly relies on the favoritism of an elder sister to stay.
Just like that, two men set out on their own path.
Looking for Candy.
Lyle was still teasing William.
"How does it feel to have the Succubus Maid you originally designated become your own sister-in-law, William?"
"Brother-in-law, I harbor no inappropriate thoughts toward Candy."
"After finding out he’s a man?" Lyle laughed out loud, "Candy really is forgiving. You know, his brother-in-law initially wanted to become a Slave Master."
"Alright, alright, I was mean back then, can we stop now? Next topic, please."
Seeing William plead for a change, Lyle considerately shifted the conversation, "Are we retracing our steps and heading back to the Dark Third District?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
William nodded, "The Dark Third District is after all their siblings’ home, and now with the tribe contest, the Demon Race is also selecting participants. Candy is dealing with related matters, and Gulelia has plans for Candy. She wants him to develop in the administrative direction in the future instead of becoming a waiter like her."
"So she left Candy alone in the place with the greyest deals. Last time, he was bullied by three little demons of the Demon Race. Maybe this time we’ll have to play the heroes to save the ’beauty’ again."
"Now is the festival, all tribes will be a bit more restrained, and besides, Candy isn’t alone. The bar recently got a new cleaner to replace my position," William paused, "Lyle, you know, birds of a feather flock together. Candy and the newcomer get along very well."
"A man? From where?"
"From Dreya. The City of Wandering recently connected to two human kingdoms through a portal, and some people from Dreya and Livisett have also settled here."
Lyle thought of those two queens and the outstanding armies, hoping they were doing better.
"What’s the name of the newcomer?"
"Yino."
"What kind of person is he?"
William hesitated for a moment, "...Another Candy."
As the two walked through the alleyways of the Sin District, Lyle was pondering what another Candy meant when William interrupted his train of thought.
"There, they’re coming."
Following William’s direction, Lyle saw two people right on the main road.
Candy still maintained that fragile femininity, timidity, and seduction.
The other person, Yino.
He indeed looked like another Candy.
A grown-up version of Candy.
Soft golden hair hanging over his shoulders, but compared to the sheen on his skin, his hair seemed a dull accessory. His face wasn’t as adorably plump as Candy’s. A pretty melon seed-shaped face with delicate features that carried a hint of girlish charm. His mouth naturally curved into a slight smile, a playful expression that was both intellectual and handsome. His eyes exuded a tranquil love that carried a tinge of maternal affection. Even his simple attire was graced with a sense of nobility; his exposed pale skin and his long, slender limbs added a forbidden allure.
Yino had spotted them earlier.
His smile was perfectly strained, like a budding flower about to bloom.
Perhaps due to the angle, his gaze lingered on Lyle for quite some time.
