70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 527: Morning Sickness
Xu Mumu didn’t pay much attention to the matter again; the days of resting during pregnancy were still a little boring for her.
As long as Yin Yang was at home, she couldn’t do this or that. Even when she was just walking, he would come to support her. His enthusiasm seemed never to fade, which gave Xu Mumu quite a headache.
After she got pregnant, Xu Mumu’s morning sickness came relatively late. Just as her younger siblings were about to start their vacation, Xu Mumu entered the stage of vomiting whatever she ate. After a few days, Xu Mumu felt like she had lost a lot of weight.
"Mumu, eat a little apple. What else do you want to eat? I’ll have Yun Hong bring it tomorrow." Apart from fruit, Xu Mumu couldn’t handle any dish that had a hint of meat. Looking at Xu Mumu now, Yin Yang felt incredibly sorry for her.
"It’s okay, apples are pretty good too. It’s not like I can’t eat anything," Xu Mumu smiled and shook her head. She forced herself to eat more meat for nutrition, but almost everything she ate came back up, making her very uncomfortable.
"That’s not right. I’ve already asked the cook from the Yin Family to come. I heard she took care of my mom when she was pregnant with me. She must have a solution." Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu with concern.
"What if I get better in a few days?" Xu Mumu said, eating an apple, feeling a lot better, and touched her stomach which was already slightly protruding. The little one inside was quite active too.
"It’s okay. Let her take care of you for a while. If we weren’t mostly eating with our parents, I would want her to stay here and take care of you all the time." Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu seriously. He naturally wanted to leave the best of everything for Xu Mumu, but Xu Mumu might not be used to such a life.
"Alright, that sounds okay." Xu Mumu didn’t say much more—if there was really a way to make her feel better, for the sake of the child inside her, she would agree.
Seeing that Xu Mumu agreed, Yin Yang breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that his wife understood the priorities; otherwise, he wouldn’t know how to persuade her.
Within a couple of days, Madam Chun, the cook from the Yin Family, arrived. Madam Chun, over fifty years old, had a decent life under the protection of the Yin Family. From the look of her, one could tell she hadn’t had it too hard.
Madam Chun already knew about the situation with Xu Mumu. Taking care of pregnant women was something she had specifically studied. When Yin Yang’s mother was pregnant with him, her reaction was much worse than Xu Mumu’s.
Madam Chun wasn’t much of a talker, and when Yin Yang asked her to prepare food for Xu Mumu, she packed her things and went to work on it.
Xu Mumu was reading the books Yin Yang had found for her. They were all related to machinery, to help pass the time during the somewhat tedious days of pregnancy.
While Xu Mumu was reading, she suddenly smelled a sour and sweet aroma wafting from the kitchen. She sniffed the air; it smelled delicious and made her stomach growl a bit.
Yin Yang was right beside Xu Mumu, and he noticed her reaction. It seemed effective; his eyes lit up with hope that his wife could eat more without vomiting this time.
Once the dishes were served, Xu Mumu looked at the three large bowls in front of her, swallowing her saliva. They smelled delightful, without any fishy or nauseous sensation.
There was tomato-braised pork ribs with soybeans, a silver ear mushroom and fish ball soup, braised tofu with mushrooms, and a pot of pork liver porridge.
"See if they suit your taste, madam. If not, I can change the style tomorrow. It’s already late today, and we don’t have too many ingredients here, so I could only make these simple dishes."
"Thank you, Madam Chun." Xu Mumu smiled at Madam Chun and picked up a piece of rib. She had been eyeing it for a while; its aroma tempted her right from the kitchen.
The ribs were braised to a perfect sweet and sour balance, very appetizing. Xu Mumu’s eyes brightened; it tasted good without any greasy feeling.
Seeing that Xu Mumu didn’t throw up, both Yin Yang and Madam Chun breathed a sigh of relief; it was good that she didn’t vomit.
After finishing her meal, Xu Mumu felt very satisfied. These recent days were rough on her, constantly throwing up whatever she ate, and she felt what it was like to have an empty stomach.
"I might have eaten a bit too much," Xu Mumu said, patting her belly. Before she knew it, she’d eaten quite a bit, and she looked apologetically at Yin Yang.
"It’s alright, let’s go for a walk to digest," Yin Yang said, supporting Xu Mumu as he prepared to take her out for a stroll around the neighborhood.
Xu Mumu nodded, and the couple headed out. With Madam Chun there to tidy up, they were spared a lot of trouble.
Li Caixia and the others also learned about Xu Mumu’s situation. After Xu Mumu and Yin Yang left for their walk, Li Caixia went to gather tips from Madam Chun.
Li Caixia was Xu Mumu’s mother, and Madam Chun treated her with respect, sharing what knowledge she had.
Li Caixia took notes attentively. Even though she had bought books to study from, some of Madam Chun’s practical experience wasn’t found in any book.
By the time Xu Mumu and Yin Yang returned from their walk, Li Caixia was still engrossed in learning from Madam Chun.
Xu Mumu felt warm inside and didn’t bother them. She felt her mom was doing so much better now, rather than always looking to take advantage of others back in the countryside.
Li Caixia was now diligent and proactive, taking the initiative to learn many new things.
Despite her age, which made learning these things more challenging, she was still willing to try.
Having had a full meal, Xu Mumu was in a particularly good mood and picked up the storybook Yin Yang bought for her, beginning today’s prenatal education.
While Yin Yang was reviewing the project proposal beside her, he listened to Xu Mumu read those stories, feeling his heart settle down.
After Madam Chun’s arrival, Xu Mumu felt especially happy. Madam Chun had a special talent for taking care of her diet, and Xu Mumu hadn’t vomited since.
Before the kids’ vacations started, they achieved something remarkable: they skipped grades again. They took the final exams for the second semester of their sophomore year.
Xu Mumu was shocked when she heard this news. No wonder the kids were so busy this semester; they had agreed to skip grades together and met all the requirements. Although the exam results weren’t out yet, their expressions were relaxed and confident, indicating they performed well.
As Xu Mumu looked at the kids, she realized how much they’d grown in the few years since she came here. She still remembered the time when Xu Wan was so thin, almost skin and bones, and now they were like young adolescents.
"Will you be able to adapt after skipping grades?" Xu Mumu was a little worried about them. Preparing for college entrance exams wasn’t easy, and the senior year courses were quite demanding.
