70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 526: Big Brother’s Marriage
Huo Qingze didn’t want to pay him any mind and quickly went off to find something to do. There were still quite a few things to handle, and he didn’t want to listen to Yin Yang say those things anymore.
Huo Qingze ignored him, so Yin Yang lost interest and started to think about what needed to be prepared for their child’s birth. He took a small notebook and jotted everything down, planning to have Zhou Yunhong buy everything once he was done thinking.
Soon, it would be the May Day mini-holiday, and Xu Minghui returned to discuss with his parents about going to the Jiang Family to meet and discuss the wedding.
Their silly son was finally starting to understand, and Li Caixia was thrilled.
The two families’ parents were finally going to meet, and Xu Mumu was sentimental on the side. Her brother was finally getting married, so she wouldn’t have to keep nagging him.
The meeting was scheduled for May 2nd, and the Xu Family would go to the Jiang Family.
The main task was for Li Caixia and Xu Hai to take Xu Minghui there, while Xu Mumu didn’t plan to go. She was already married, so there was no need to join in the bustle. It was enough to wait for her brother’s wedding.
However, the kids were quite curious, and even Xu Minglei wanted to go see what his future sister-in-law looked like, as he couldn’t remember her.
But Li Caixia and the others left him at home, reasoning there was no need for so many people to go. The family store still needed someone to watch it, and even if meeting the in-laws meant closing the shop wasn’t an option. Xu Minglei would stay to mind it, as Xu Hai had made a price list for everything, and collecting money would be just fine.
Xu Minglei, left to watch the shop: "..." Alright, fine, he wouldn’t go. Staying home with his sister was good. Watching the shop was a simple enough task.
After Xu Minghui and the others left, Xu Mumu took Xu Minglei to the shop. Xu Jiaojiao and the others had gone back to their hometown since the May Day holiday lasted a week. Returning home, they could help with family chores.
Many university students hadn’t gone home yet, so business was still pretty good. Xu Mumu played with her little brother here while Madam Chen prepared a variety of fast food next door, not intending to let Xu Mumu help.
Now that Xu Mumu was pregnant, she had to be careful not to tire herself out.
The Xu Family’s shop business was doing well, and now around the university, all kinds of shops had appeared, selling everything imaginable.
The area had become a bustling street, and many students came here during the holidays to stroll around.
Xu Mumu took her little brother for a walk around and bought some things she found nice. The little guy was gnawing on a big apple.
"Can you finish that big one?" Madam Chen asked, somewhat annoyed, seeing her grandson nibbling on such a big apple.
"Yeah, I can finish it," the little rascal said earnestly. The apple was sweet, and he had picked the biggest and sweetest one out of the bag his sister had bought.
"Sis, I want one too," Xu Minglei immediately chimed in.
"Here, they’re all here. Go wash one yourself," Xu Mumu handed the bag to Xu Minglei and began peeling an apple.
Once peeled, she cut it in half, gave it to her grandparents, and peeled another for herself.
As for her two brothers, they were a bit rougher, just rinsing the fruit and biting into it, cutting wasn’t worth the hassle.
"These apples are really tasty. I heard Xu Laosi’s family grows these. When they’re ripe, we can have as many as we want," Madam Chen said while eating, recalling the orchard Xu Laosi had contracted back home.
"Uncle Xu’s family does grow apples. Jiaojiao said they were doing well, and we should be able to eat them next year," Xu Minglei said, munching away. He thought Uncle Xu was smart for planting apple trees—such tasty fruits would surely sell well, and the family could eat them freely.
"Laosi has a knack for this." Old Xu was quite proud of his son’s talent in agriculture. All his sons were progressing well, and the old couple couldn’t be happier.
"It’s not too bad. Laosi took out a loan for this. If he’s not diligent, the whole family might end up with nothing," Madam Chen added, though she was quite pleased.
"It’s good this way; it gives them motivation to manage the orchard better," Xu Mumu said with a smile, believing this was quite a good arrangement.
The fourth house had some savings and also took out a loan, giving them a sense of urgency that made them focus on maximizing the orchard’s potential.
"That’s true. Our Mumu knows a lot," Madam Chen chuckled.
Xu Mumu twitched her mouth. What’s there to praise? In the first house, no matter what she did, she was perfect—without any faults—in their eyes, and they doted on her blindly.
Meanwhile, at the Jiang family, Li Caixia and her husband were discussing the wedding date with Jiang Yuxiu’s parents. Both parties were quite pleased with the kids, and given their ages, it was time for marriage.
Thus, the wedding was scheduled during the summer holiday, with both sides wishing for an early marriage.
After settling on the wedding date, Li Caixia and her husband stayed the night and returned to the provincial city by car the next day.
Once home, Li Caixia excitedly started talking about this matter—it was a joyful occasion for the family.
Talking about the wedding, Li Caixia was unstoppable. The family had a house, and the wedding room was naturally arranged there. Various wedding necessities needed to be prepared in advance.
With just over two months until the summer holiday, getting everything ready, including the wedding, was a bit rushed.
The house wasn’t large, but being Xu Minghui’s wedding room, it had to be redecorated, and the furniture needed to be replaced with new ones. Luckily, it was a new house, saving them a lot of hassle.
Watching his mother’s enthusiasm, Xu Minghui quietly swallowed his words.
He felt the house was a bit cramped and wanted to buy a new place.
"Brother, what were you going to say?" Xu Mumu asked once Li Caixia had left, curious about Xu Minghui’s unfinished words.
"Nothing, just thinking about the wedding," Xu Minghui shook his head, deciding not to voice his thoughts. Living at home was lively, Jiang Yuxiu wasn’t troublesome, and living with family meant looking out for each other—moving out was unnecessary, moreover, he hadn’t saved much money.
Xu Mumu glanced at Xu Minghui. Fine, if her brother didn’t want to say, she’d leave it. He didn’t seem unhappy, so it couldn’t be a bad thing.
