Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1828 - 1825: Great Respect
"Brother Lin, this... this is no joke." Qiao Xiaoyi was still very nervous; he even leaned back, creating some distance from Lin Tian, afraid of passing the infection to him.
Lin Tian remained unconcerned and took something out of a bag, placing it on the table: "I know you’ve already eaten, but hospital food probably isn’t great, so I brought you some fresh fruit. Eat it while it’s fresh."
Seeing Lin Tian still so unguarded, Qiao Xiaoyi’s eyes were filled with gratitude. Although he didn’t care much about how others saw him, Lin Tian’s lack of defense deeply moved him.
"Thank you, Brother Lin," Qiao Xiaoyi said gratefully.
"But I’ve noticed you don’t seem scared at all. Are you aware of your situation?" Lin Tian asked calmly while eating.
"Looking at Brother Lin, I suppose I’ve been infected with a parasite," Qiao Xiaoyi said very calmly, without much excitement, even though he could tell what Lin Tian was going to say.
Lin Tian raised his head slightly, looking at him with admiration: "It seems you’re truly unafraid. Sometimes I wonder, are you even human? Do you have any human fears?"
"I don’t know why. Maybe it’s something I got used to since childhood?" Qiao Xiaoyi remarked lightheartedly while picking up a piece of fruit.
Lin Tian was slightly surprised: "Got used to it?" He didn’t quite understand what Qiao Xiaoyi meant. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"According to my mom, I’ve had a rough time since I was young. I was suffocating on amniotic fluid when I was born, turning all black and purple. After a hard rescue, I had pneumonia and a high fever."
"The doctors back then concluded that with my condition, it’d take at least a month to recover. But for some reason, I was all better in three days, with all vital signs normal, as if I had never been sick."
"The doctors were equally surprised, eventually attributing it to my naturally strong constitution; even when I got sick, I recovered faster than others. When I first learned to walk, I was particularly mischievous and fell from over a meter-high platform."
"I landed on my head, and my parents were terrified at the time. But when they took me to the hospital, there was nothing wrong. The doctors said that falling from over a meter high would cause severe injuries to an adult landing on their head. They didn’t believe I landed on my head, which almost led to my mom arguing with them."
"Finally, the doctors had no choice and did a full check-up. When they found nothing wrong, my parents were relieved."
"Whenever I have a high fever, regardless of how high, I always recover quickly at the stage doctors consider the most severe. It’s like when I was all bruised from fighting in the ring, and Brother Lin, you treated me. I thought it would take a few days to heal, but by the next day, I was fine."
"So throughout my life, I’ve often experienced these strange things and have become accustomed to them, so I’m not really afraid now." Qiao Xiaoyi shrugged and said calmly.
"Is there such a thing?" Now it was Lin Tian’s turn to be surprised. What kind of constitution is this? If it’s good, why get sick? If it’s not, why recover faster than others?
Qiao Xiaoyi smiled gently: "I’m not sure, maybe my constitution is just peculiar. So, Brother Lin, don’t worry about me."
Hearing this, Lin Tian didn’t feel relieved; instead, he solemnly said, "Xiaoyi, how should I put it, this time, the situation exceeds your imagination and even everyone’s understanding. I hope you’re mentally prepared. Some things can’t be resisted by human power."
"Can’t be resisted by human power? Is it non-human?" Qiao Xiaoyi joked.
It is indeed non-human, Lin Tian thought, but he couldn’t tell him outright. Besides, Qiao Xiaoyi is just an ordinary person, so what could he do even if he knew?
"In any case, you should be careful. If there are any new developments, let me know immediately or have Director Liang inform me. Don’t hold on because you’re worried about bothering others, got it?" Lin Tian instructed seriously.
"Rest assured, Brother Lin. I’ll cooperate fully with you and the hospital’s treatment," Qiao Xiaoyi promised.
After chatting with Qiao Xiaoyi for a while longer, it was already 8 PM. Lin Tian bade farewell to Xiaoyi and left the hospital. The hospital wasn’t far from the school, so Lin Tian decided to walk back, but his walk was faster than others running.
Seemingly strolling leisurely, yet as swift as the wind, he stuck to side paths, so as not to cause a stir. Soon, he was back at the apartment dormitory. Since the little girl was home, he didn’t bother with the keys and just rang the doorbell.
After a few chimes, Xiao Manxuan opened the door, but Lin Tian noticed an odd expression on the little girl’s face.
"What’s the matter?" Lin Tian asked, puzzled.
"Uh, you better see for yourself." The little girl stepped aside to let Lin Tian in.
Curious, Lin Tian quickly walked into the living room and discovered that the chairs in the living room were all occupied; there were six people in total. All six were dressed uniformly in black T-shirts and black pants and had uniformly short-cropped hair.
As soon as Lin Tian entered, all six stood up in unison, came to attention, and turned to look at Lin Tian simultaneously. The leader stepped forward and smiled at Lin Tian.
"Wow, Thunder Wolf, did you bring the whole team here to catch someone in my house?" Lin Tian said helplessly.
Indeed, the six standing straight in the living room were the Thunder Wolf Team, and the one smiling the most heartily was the Thunder Wolf Captain.
Thunder Wolf laughed heartily and said, "With Brother Lin Tian around, how can any villain have their way? We were planning to wait outside, but Mr. Xiao said our presence might frighten others, so we came inside to wait."
"Then why did you bring so many people? Here to drink with me?" Lin Tian asked curiously.
Xiao Manxuan also came back, saying helplessly, "I asked them several times, but they insisted on waiting for you to come back."
"Drinking will have to wait till next time. Didn’t the Instructor tell you before leaving? She ordered us to be at your command." Thunder Wolf waved his hand and then put on a very solemn demeanor.
Speaking of being at his command, none of the Thunder Wolf Team members showed any sign of disagreement. They had fought alongside Lin Tian more than once, and were well aware of his abilities.
What impressed them the most was that Lin Tian even managed to win over Instructor Ning. Yes, in their eyes, Lin Tian getting along with Instructor Ning was a sign of that.
So, being under Lin Tian’s command, they felt very assured.
Lin Tian recalled the message from Ning Luoxi. This Female Instructor seemed to have mentioned it.
After giving it some thought, Lin Tian said, "You guys came at just the right time; I do have something I’d like your help with."
"Just say the word, Brother Lin Tian, and we’ll make sure to complete the mission," Thunder Wolf loudly promised.
"You’ve heard about the parasite issue, right?" Lin Tian’s gaze swept over the six, and once they all nodded, he continued, "This time, the infection from the parasite is beyond imagination. I need you to trace and bring to Jinghua University Hospital anyone who had close encounters with Zhao Weitao, Xiao Zhao, and others."
