Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1822 - 1819: Requesting Someone from You
Back when Lin Tian treated Zuo Xing’er’s father’s intracerebral hemorrhage, Dean Miao supported Lin Tian, this newcomer, at great risk. However, from another perspective, Dean Miao is a person with great vision and courage.
In terms of age, Jiang Xiu Ying is older than Dean Miao, and in terms of reputation in the medical community, Jiang Xiu Ying is significantly higher, but both did not deliberately show superiority or inferiority.
Unlike some leaders, who can’t walk alongside him, much less ahead of him, or else he’d feel disrespected and be upset.
Moreover, there’s hardly any grand entourage, just two people looking like assistants tagging behind.
Given Jiang Xiu Ying’s status in the medical field, being surrounded by people is normal, and hospital leaders would typically accompany her, yet they only came as a group of three or four, without any fanfare, extremely low-key.
This is also what Lin Tian admires about Jiang Xiu Ying – high status, excellent medical skills, yet pragmatic and low-key.
As soon as they entered, they saw Lin Tian, and their eyes brightened, but before they could greet him, Professor He had already approached.
"Elder Jiang, Old Miao, you are really on time," Professor He stepped up to shake hands and greet them, addressing each differently.
Calling Jiang Xiu Ying "Elder Jiang" was an honorific title; although his own reputation was not low, he was much younger than Jiang Xiu Ying. The way he addressed Dean Miao showed their close and friendly relationship.
Director Liang and several doctors also wanted to greet them, but Zhao Xiangyuan had already rushed ahead, eagerly saying, "Elder Jiang, Dean Miao, please save my son."
Elder Jiang glanced at Professor He, slightly sternly asking, "Professor He, what’s going on?"
"Mr. Zhao’s son Zhao Weitao and another student were the first to be infected with parasites, already leading to secondary reproduction, and we just found out that Zhao Weitao’s friend Liu Yuansi and two other girls are also infected. The intensity of this spread is somewhat unexpected," Professor He briefly described the situation, respecting privacy without publicly mentioning how Liu Yuansi and the two women got infected. Zhao Xiangyuan was both embarrassed and relieved, as repeated mentions of those embarrassing events would make him want to find a hole to hide in.
"What’s the difference between the parasites they are infected with and those in the lab?" Dean Miao also asked seriously.
"Both are similar in nature, but the parasites on the patients are smaller and more hidden. We still don’t know how it would develop further; we’ve never encountered this kind of parasite before," Professor He replied, both solemn and perplexed.
"Elder Jiang, Dean Miao, I suggest forming a special task force, led by Elder Jiang to focus on this parasite. I have a hunch this will become increasingly tricky," Director Liang also stepped over and made a suggestion.
Although he was about the same age as Jiang Xiu Ying, his address of her as "Elder Jiang" reflected his high admiration and respect for her medical ethics and skills.
"This matter indeed brooks no delay, and I won’t be modest with you; the task force should be established immediately," Jiang Xiu Ying was straightforward, unlike certain experts or leaders who still perfunctorily exchanged pleasantries, which she saw as a waste of time.
After a pause, Jiang Xiu Ying added, "You can decide who to include in the project group, but there’s one person who must join."
"Oh? Someone whom Elder Jiang values so highly must have exceptional medical skills; I wonder who could earn Elder Jiang’s favor?" Professor He was very surprised, and the other doctors and nurses were equally astonished, showing great interest, all wanting to know who Elder Jiang had in mind.
Dean Miao smiled silently, seemingly having guessed already.
"Lin Tian, who do you think Elder Jiang would personally designate? An elderly doctor with outstanding skills?" He Xiaofei curiously asked.
Mu Binglan also chimed in, "I think that’s likely, after all, honing medical skills takes years of experience."
"Perhaps it’s a young person? Some people are just naturally gifted," Qiao Xiaoyi offered a different view.
"How could it be? Are you talking about yourself, Xiaoyi?" He Xiaofei laughed.
"Lin Tian, Xuanxuan, what do you think?" Mu Binglan found it strange that Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan hadn’t said a word and pursued the question, ignoring Xu Feibai since she didn’t know him.
Xiao Manxuan blinked her big eyes with an odd expression, Lin Tian scratched his brow, casually said, "Well... maybe Xiaofei is right."
Just as everyone was speculating who the person could be, Jiang Xiu Ying spoke up again: "Professor He, you know this person too, and to have them join the project group, I must ask you for them."
"Ask me for someone?" Professor He was stunned, wondering when he’d met such a person.
"Yes, Lin Tian is a student at your institute, so I need to ask you for him," Jiang Xiu Ying stated matter-of-factly.
"Lin Tian? You mean Lin Tian?" Professor He was baffled; in his eyes, Lin Tian was just a student.
Immediately, everyone remembered – he was a student from Jinghua University Science and Technology Institute, the same Lin Tian who had sent the patient. Everyone turned their heads, eyes all landing on Lin Tian.
He Xiaofei’s eyes were wide open, her mouth forming an O-shape; Lin Tian thought of putting something in there, though the thought was a bit mischievous.
Mu Binglan was equally surprised, this was too unexpected; they all thought it would be an elder, but Qiao Xiaoyi had accurately guessed it; it was indeed a young man, right in front of them.
"Is it really you?" After a while, He Xiaofei asked incredulously.
"Uh, I guess I’m the only Lin Tian at the Science Institute," Lin Tian shrugged, rather helplessly said.
"Lin Tian, come over here," Jiang Xiu Ying turned to Lin Tian, and her words thoroughly confirmed his identity, leaving everyone without doubt.
However, they now had new questions: being so young, are his medical skills really up to par? Especially Zhao Xiangyuan, who was most skeptical since one of the patients is his son.
Lin Tian didn’t mind the looks from everyone, he directly went over and calmly said, "Elder Jiang, long time no see, how have you been? How’s my senior sister?"
"Glad you remember to care about your senior sister, she often mentions you to me," Jiang Xiu Ying nodded and said, her gaze toward Lin Tian full of appreciation.
Senior sister mentions me often? Looks like she misses me, Lin Tian thought triumphantly.
Jiang Xiu Ying didn’t know what he was thinking, straightly said, "No need for chit-chat, you heard our conversation earlier; are you willing to join the project group?"
"I don’t have any problems with it..." Truthfully, anything related to Jiang Chen makes Lin Tian uneasy about relying solely on their project group, but it’s not good to say that or he’d seem arrogant.
"I object!" Just as Lin Tian agreed, and before he could finish his sentence, someone interrupted and opposed Lin Tian joining the project group.
