Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1793 - 1790: Protective Golden Light
"Is there really danger there?" Xiao Manxuan saw that Lin Tian didn’t seem to be joking and looked quite serious, which made her pause for a moment.
Lin Tian didn’t immediately answer, instead, he looked towards Wu Xiuluo, who was lingering not far away, and softly said, "I don’t know, maybe it’s beyond my imagination."
"Huh, Senior Sister Xiuluo hasn’t left yet, she seems to be waiting for you." Xiao Manxuan also noticed Wu Xiuluo, who made no attempt to hide the fact that she was looking at the two of them.
Lin Tian gestured slightly, and the two of them walked over together. Xiao Manxuan asked curiously, "Senior Sister Xiuluo is waiting for us?"
"I’m going inside with you." Wu Xiuluo didn’t bother with formalities, delivering her message directly. She had heard the earlier conversation, which didn’t surprise Lin Tian.
"Can you tell me your purpose?" Lin Tian also wasn’t polite and directly asked for her purpose. When talking to Wu Xiuluo, there was no need for subtlety or euphemism; being straightforward was the best way.
"Waiting, yes, I am waiting." Wu Xiuluo said softly, her expression suddenly turning strange. In her clear eyes, Lin Tian saw something he recognized as piety.
Lin Tian thought she would continue, but after speaking of waiting, she fell silent, and it appeared she was unwilling to say more.
"Alright then, everyone has their secrets. In that case, let’s go. With an expert like you along, it will be much safer." Lin Tian waited for a bit, seeing that she still had no intention of explaining, and didn’t press further. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Just like how Miss wouldn’t probe into his secrets, he wouldn’t delve into others’ secrets either.
At this moment, the members of the two societies had left for their own activities, leaving only the three of them. Lin Tian, familiar with the place, walked directly into the largest old building.
In the lobby of the old building, three male classmates were taking pictures. Seeing the three of them enter, they grew visibly excited. The first school beauty Wu Xiuluo, the newly crowned school goddess Xiao Manxuan, plus their idol Lin Tian — each one could make them thrilled for a while, let alone all three appearing together.
"Xiu... Senior Sister Xiuluo, Mr. Xiao, Brother Tian..." The three boys were so excited that they stuttered.
"We’re just having a look, no need to mind us, you guys carry on." Lin Tian pretended to be casual, putting on a friendly smile.
"We’ve taken about enough photos on the first floor, time to head upstairs. We... will head up first." One of the boys pointed upstairs, speaking shyly. In front of the two great goddesses, the three boys blushed out of shyness. Not every man had as thick a skin as Lin Tian.
This was exactly what Lin Tian wanted to hear. He watched the three boys head upstairs, and only after they left did he turn towards the side hall, where the entrance to the basement passage was located in one corner.
Seeing how familiar Lin Tian was with the place, Wu Xiuluo was somewhat surprised. Lin Tian spread his hands, saying, "I came for a stroll last night, but He Xiaofei was there, so I didn’t go very deep."
"What did you see last night?" Wu Xiuluo asked curiously, following Lin Tian into the basement, eyeing the surroundings.
Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan exchanged a look, then shushed her, signaling Wu Xiuluo to stay silent. He walked to the corner and opened the innermost door, revealing the passage behind it to the three of them.
Wu Xiuluo was surprised again. Lin Tian offered no explanation, gesturing for Xiao Manxuan to shine a flashlight inside. Having had experience from the previous night, Xiao Manxuan naturally brought a flashlight, which she pointed into the passage before suddenly turning it on.
A beam of light instantly illuminated the passage, lighting up the gray cobwebs and the startled insects. The insects from last night reappeared, and when shone upon, they all scurried into the wall crevices.
"These aren’t ordinary insects." Wu Xiuluo furrowed her brows, her expression turning serious.
"To my knowledge, they aren’t Gu Worms either." Lin Tian continued.
"Then what kind of insects are they?" Xiao Manxuan asked curiously, touching the protective necklace around her neck. Speaking of Gu Worms, Little Zi in the protective necklace was a top-quality Gu.
"I don’t know." Lin Tian and Wu Xiuluo spoke almost in unison.
However, Wu Xiuluo’s expression didn’t change. She was about to step into the passage when a light appeared from behind; someone had come to the basement.
"Brother Lin Tian, is that you?"
The voice of Ning Wenbin came alongside the beam of light. Lin Tian frowned, wondering how this guy found his way here.
Lin Tian, not in a good mood, said, "It’s me."
The person who appeared in the basement was Ning Wenbin, holding a flashlight. Seeing that it was only Ning Wenbin, Lin Tian relaxed a little.
This guy jogged over, not surprised to see Wu Xiuluo, just smiling, "I saw you from afar and didn’t expect you to come into the basement."
"Hey, there’s a passage here." Just after casually commenting, Ning Wenbin noticed the cobwebbed passage, and with his usual carelessness, was about to enter to have a look.
Lin Tian pulled him back with a glare, "You dare to roam around in a place like this."
"Hehe, couldn’t resist my curiosity." Ning Wenbin chuckled, clearly not taking the danger seriously. That’s because he didn’t see the insects earlier.
"You all are going in? Count me in." Ning Wenbin glanced at Lin Tian and the others and realized they intended to go in, so he eagerly volunteered.
"Alright, let’s not waste time. If you’re going in, let’s go." Wu Xiuluo said coldly.
Ning Wenbin was delighted, wanting to rush in first, but Wu Xiuluo stopped him. The school goddess said faintly, "Close your eyes."
The guy paused, a bit unsure of what to make of it, but before he could comprehend, Wu Xiuluo had already touched his forehead with her finger. Ning Wenbin felt a tightness between his brows and instinctively closed his eyes.
A glint of golden light shone from Wu Xiuluo’s fingertip, and in a flash, it entered Ning Wenbin’s forehead and disappeared. Ning Wenbin looked intoxicated; this was probably his closest encounter with Wu Xiuluo.
He only felt Wu Xiuluo’s fingers were soft and warm, touching his forehead with a kind of warmth that spread through his body, feeling extremely comfortable. Of course, this guy didn’t know what had happened, thinking it was the wonderful chemistry of love, naturally a figment of his imagination.
The gold light appeared and vanished quickly. Wu Xiuluo withdrew her finger, and Ning Wenbin opened his eyes, still relishing the moment. Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan exchanged another look but remained silent. They had seen this golden light before, at the Fengye Restaurant.
Lin Tian guessed the golden light likely had a protective effect on Ning Wenbin. With Wu Xiuluo’s intervention, Lin Tian felt much more at ease. Yet, this guy remained clueless, completely in the dark about what happened.
Wu Xiuluo didn’t offer any explanation, merely turning to enter the passage. Ning Wenbin promptly followed, thinking himself a gallant protector, unaware that he was the one being protected.
Next was Xiao Manxuan, then Lin Tian entered last, with him and Wu Xiuluo flanking the group, strategically placing Xiao Manxuan and Ning Wenbin in the middle — a silent understanding among experts.
