Xyrin Empire
Chapter 1134: A Couple of Things About Lilina
It’s true that a group of people thinking is different, Lin Xue’s hint instantly opened my mind.
Actually, I’ve almost forgotten how many research projects Taville is working on right now and how many are in a critical phase, but Lin Xue still remembers, and she immediately connects two things. I’m not so slow that I’m hopeless, so I immediately thought of the reason: it seems that while I wasn’t aware, this young lady who likes to be stubborn never relaxes, she’s always secretly working hard so she can help me when it’s crucial. Even though she always appears careless, whenever I need help, I can always see her shadow by my side—As for Qianqian, it’s probably true that she’s really careless...
So after hesitating for a moment, I immediately showed a look of overwhelming joy and kissed Lin Xue’s cheek...
"Hey! You’re crazy!" The young lady jumped out from my embrace like she was electrocuted, crouched on the sofa’s backrest glaring at me, and Vanilla turned her head just in time to see this, clicking her tongue in wonder and mumbling to herself: "Rabi can also squat on the couch’s backrest sticking to the wall like that..."
I paused, remembering that the Rabi she mentioned is the timid Cat Lady who teaches children to read and write in the Crow God Sacred City. You know, the young lady’s reaction after being startled is really quite cat-like.
"That smile full of wrinkles betrays the dirty thoughts in your brain," the young lady showed her teeth at me, also aware of how bizarre her stance on the sofa’s backrest was, crouched and sticking to the wall, and she nimbly jumped down, putting on socks and finding shoes while saying, "Alright, it’s getting late, I’m going home to exchange Xiao Xue. Remember to supervise her washing her face and brushing her teeth tonight, don’t let her stay up late playing games with Bubbles, alright? That kid is spoiled by you without form."
Actually, I wanted to say I haven’t had time to spoil the girl yet, but in this kind of situation, arguing with her is clearly pointless, so cooperating decisively is the way out. "Yes, yes, mom of the kid—" I deliberately dragged the sound to reply, those four sensitive words instantly made the young lady’s face turn red, and Bubbles suddenly emerged from nowhere: "Hey, I’m here, Dad of the kid, you looking for me?"
Me: "..." No matter when, you can encounter this guy jumping out to claim existence.
The young lady glared at me and Bubbles for a while (Bubbles being the one who impulsively came out to take the hit), then turned and opened a teleportation gate directly leading to her bedroom at home, and her last words dissipated into the air: "I’m leaving, don’t forget what I told you."
As her voice fell, her silhouette disappeared into a twisted light curtain, but two seconds later, a roar came from the other side of the teleportation gate: "You brat! What have you done to my room! Put that back!"
Everyone in the living room was startled by this outburst, focusing their gaze on the teleportation gate, moments later Chen Xiaoxue was violently tossed through the space gate, landing on the carpet with a thud: undoubtedly thrown by Lin Xue.
Based on Lin Xue’s furious voice just now, I could guess what wrathful thing the girl did, it was quite predictable—and Xiaoxue even had the audacity to lift her head and show me a silly grin: "Dad, I found a lot of interesting things in my mom’s room—want to know what color underwear she likes?"
I expressionlessly tossed Xiaoxue to Big Sister: "You need to be educated—and about this question, according to normal ethics and physics, I should know earlier than you."
The instant Xiaoxue got caught by Big Sister, her expression flashes rapidly like flipping through screens, finally settling on a determined expression before being dragged upstairs by Big Sister, and then there was silence.
We had two guests unfamiliar with the inside story, Shajina and Sona, dumbfounded and puzzled watching this scene which doesn’t look like a normal family, yet investigated seriously it totally resembles an ordinary family setup. Watching Xiaofei disappear at the corner of the stairs, Sona revealed a worried look, nervously saying to me: "Though it’s improper to say this... but won’t the child be punished too harshly?"
"Punished?" I rolled my eyes, "My sister doesn’t easily hit people, the most severe would be giving a couple of slaps."
"Then why did your daughter’s expression look so... miserable?" Shajina couldn’t control her curiosity.
I pondered, felt this question was hard to answer: "How to say it... My sister definitely has special abilities, anyways all naughty kids regardless of size and age, as long as they meet my sister they’ll behave as if facing their nemesis, being instantly obedient. When I was a child after being naughty, I felt that my sister was the world’s most terrifying creature, bar none."
Upon hearing, Shajina’s curiosity became even more irrepressible, repeatedly questioning the reason for Big Sister’s mighty power, I didn’t know why this half-dragon girl, who never had a relationship, was so interested in how to discipline naughty kids, anyhow could only explain from my understanding and memory: "Can’t really clarify, anyways my sister’s method is presenting the facts and reasoning, persuading with emotions, she has a kind of aura, combining with it, after explaining a set of principles she makes you truly feel like you’ve betrayed the whole world, with unprecedented guilt, wish to commit suicide to apologize worldwide but can’t bring yourself to do so thus further tormented with guilt—it’s this kind of feeling."
Recalling the educational experiences from my sister during childhood, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of fear—even recalling how wicked I was back then, smashing school windows, stealing teacher’s lunch boxes, sprinkling pepper in the principal’s cigarette box, imitating the homeroom teacher’s handwriting to write a love letter to the dean. Thankfully, there was a nemesis like my sister to suppress me constantly, I became a good youth embodying Five Virtues Four Beauties. Otherwise, this year you’d only see my mugshot on Legal Broadcast rolling screen daily...
Of course, besides this, what’s more amazing is: having had such impressive parental guidance since small, Xiaoxue turned out the way she is now. You say this girl managed to be unruly to such an unscientific degree—mixing my and Lin Xue’s genes exactly at which point occurred this miraculous transformation into decay...
The next morning, as usual, I was woken up by Mercury Lamp’s box (failingly). After tossing that little doll who managed to fly over accurately carrying the box despite blurry eyes onto the washbasin, I turned to look outside the window, finding out that outside was gloomy—it seems a spring rain is inevitable, so I shelved the idea of going out for an idle stroll. When arriving at the first-floor living room, I saw Shajina and the others already awake, sitting on the sofa with serious expressions listening to Lin explaining about divine techniques usage methods. Little Crow mimicked sitting next to Lin looking as though imparting wisdom too, yet in reality, nibbling nuts distracted, neither listening nor teaching, upon seeing me appear she happily rushed over: "Caw!"
"Did you rest well yesterday?" I smilingly greeted Shajina and the others casually asking, whereupon Sona appeared intrigued, somewhat uneasy saying: "Actually... is there something strange about this house?"
I paused then: "Huh?"
Shajina stuck her tongue out: "Sona said the house is haunted, strange noises kept coming from within the walls at night, but I didn’t hear, slept soundly."
Me: "...Anwina!"
The ghost maid immediately popped out from beneath the nearby table: "Ah? Did you call me, Master?"
"It’s fine you like singing, but late at night, try singing something positive and uplifting..."
"Oh." The ghost maid obediently nodded, once again diving into the table. Yet despite advising this, I feel improving the haunting situation at home might still be difficult—Anwina enjoys a reputation as the wandering soul singer, I’m guessing even if she sang Ode to Joy you’d still hear a chilling autumn wind blowing through graveyards phantom...
"It’s not haunted, it’s Anwina singing... you saw her, she’s a ghost, so barely sleeps." I awkwardly explained to Shajina and the others, possibly accepted our family’s various bizarre scenarios, they didn’t show further astonishment, just calmly nodded then continued listening to Lin’s lecture. The Dragon God Girl was explaining combat methods using divine power, despite usually appearing timid wary of being bullied, Lin occasionally when serious conveys the mentor vibe: "Battle should be fierce onwards, regardless of enemy type, strike with all your might, during this process the tail’s role is crucial yet paw shouldn’t be neglected either..."
I quickly pulled out Vanilla who was listening with great interest: "This tutorial is not for you, you should..." I glanced at Little Crow who was munching on a walnut shell, then looked around the living room: "You should ask Lilina to give you a lecture... Where’s Lilina?"
"Lady Lilina said she’s arranging some religious activities in the prayer room."
The prayer room? Arranging religious activities? What is that girl up to again? My curiosity was instantly piqued, and I put Vanilla aside and stepped towards the prayer room. The so-called prayer room is just on the second floor, next to Lilina’s room. It was originally an empty room, and at one point reserved for Dingdang to live in—later Dingdang felt it safest to sleep inside the lampshade in my room, so that room was vacated and was converted by Lilina into a prayer room, symbolizing that she’s actually a very moral religious person.
As I opened the door to the prayer room, the first thing that caught my eye was a giant tree that reached the ceiling and all walls and ceilings were covered with lush vines. Supported by the space expansion divine technique, the actual area of the prayer room was more than ten times its theoretical size. Lilina had arranged it to look like a corner of the primordial forest. Among these dense but well-spaced plants, there was even a little stone path that wound its way to the back of the giant tree in the center of the room: there was a small altar there—speaking of which, Lilina really went all out with this transformation.
The air was filled with a refreshing plant fragrance, and I could hear a gentle prayer voice that was completely different from Lilina’s usual chatter: "May the Gods grant me wisdom to discern good and evil in the mortal world, may the Gods grant me compassion to embrace all people of the world, may the Gods grant me power to purify all evils, may the Gods grant me—"
I found the switch of the speaker and pressed it casually, causing the prayer voice in the air to abruptly stop. Then I found Lilina furiously writing behind the tree, grabbed her by the ear, and started a lecture: "Can you be any more shameless? Recording prayers and playing them on a loop with two speakers facing Dingdang’s divine statue—you call this being a Pope?!"
Lilina clung to my arm and flailed her little legs, yelling: "Boss, boss, let go, it hurts, hurts..."
"What are you writing?" I noticed that Lilina’s notebook spread open on the table was already filled with tiny dense writing, carefully divided into several Chapters, and even had illustrations. I suddenly became curious, realizing that this girl was likely seriously planning some major event, "Hmm, let me see... Preliminary plan for the God Descent Day celebration... Hey, what’s this?"
"It’s a Life Goddess Sect celebration," Lilina, octopus-like, wrapped around my arm and didn’t bother to get down, "I just discovered this two days ago. If you convert it to the New Empire Calendar, March 15th is the Goddess’s birthday. You know what a grand day that has to be! Christianity has Christmas, so I plan to add a God Descent Day to the Life Goddess Sect..."
I immediately laughed and excitedly pulled Dingdang out of my pocket: "You’re about to have a birthday?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Birthday? What’s that?" Dingdang stared at me stupidly, licking the sugar residue at the corner of her mouth, "Ah, I get it, the day Dingdang fell from the tree? Dingdang doesn’t celebrate that. The Divine Race doesn’t celebrate birthdays, too much trouble..."
I slapped my forehead, realizing I forgot this point. According to the time concept of that bunch of eternal and immortal divine beings, any activity plan based on time is probably nonsense. Moreover, repeating the same thing every 365 days might bore them to death. If they just want to get together and celebrate, they can find countless excuses any time, like the gatherings of those Life Goddesses in the Divine Realm who get together frequently, even commemorating when a sister tries 200 kinds of honey—they can celebrate that too. So there’s no need to specifically hold an event to commemorate one’s birth date.
However, even though Dingdang had no feeling about her birthday, Lilina seemed full of energy. She was determined to add a religious holiday to the Life Goddess Sect and had listed full three pages of celebration activities and holiday events. While I flipped through her notebook, Lilina enthusiastically explained to me: "You see, starting from March 15th is God Descent Day, with the main celebration focused on the day itself. Believers are to have a holy meal from midnight on March 14th, and then start the celebration activities at dawn the next day. The whole festival lasts three days, and then in countries where the Life Goddess Sect is the national religion, a seven-day holiday should be arranged—of course, it’s too late for this year, but I can plan for it. That’s the first holiday, actually there’s another smaller celebration on April 15th..."
"April 15th? There’s a saying for that too?" I asked curiously, feeling that the day seemed irrelevant before.
"Oh, boss, you are so confused—April 15th is the Goddess Full Moon, and there’s the Divine Full Moon Festival..."
Me: "...This is okay too?"
"Why not, anyway every move of the Goddess is worth commemorating, and who doesn’t like a festival," Lilina snatched the notebook from my hands and started adding more content while continuing to babble, "Then March 15th next year..."
"Hey, you don’t need to say it, I know this," I interrupted Lilina with a slap of my thigh, "March 15th next year is the first anniversary of Dingdang, right?"
"..." Lilina looked at me with an expression as if she was staring at a rare animal, "Boss, March 15th next year is another God Descent Day... Festivals can’t be treated like a TV series. What I want to say is, next March 15th, everything should be on track."
Me: "..." I suddenly felt my life turning gray, what a stupid question I asked just now...
"Alright, the basic arrangement is like this. The rest is to broadcast it in the Goddess Temple," Lilina just jotted down a note about the so-called Divine Full Moon Festival on April 15th, then tossed the little notebook aside, stretching lazily as if trying to show off her flat little girl figure, "Boss, look, doesn’t such a lazy stance oozes femininity?"
... A whole-body stretch causing creaky noises, yawning and accidentally drooling, a figure even Pandora can’t compare with, how am I supposed to answer this sharp question?
"Actually, boss, I also thought about your matter, by the way."
Seeing that I had no intention of responding to her, Lilina changed the topic, and you know what, it immediately grabbed my attention again: "My matter? Do I have a matter?"
"Your god title, boss," Lilina sat cross-legged in the air in a purely hypothetical manner as if she were a saint, with fanatical light on her face, "Think about it, the impending leader of the Third Divine Race’s Xyrin Divine System, boss, you’re supposed to be on the same level as the Father God and the Huron God King, an old cadre, don’t you deserve a divine title, instead of just being called the ordinary Xyrin Emperor. Look, Sister Qianqian is Time God, Sister Chen Qian is Curse Goddess, Sister Lin Xue is God of Prophecy... what about you?"
Lilina could only think about matters related to her main focus. I hadn’t even considered this issue, and to be honest, I didn’t think it really mattered: "Oh well, whatever, does it have any meaning?"
"No, it’s very significant!" Lilina was quite firm, "There must be a title. I have already researched, the name Holy Dad is only used in prayers, not suitable as an official title for you, boss..."
Hearing this, I was instantly moved, lifting Lilina up with one motion: "Oh my gosh, you finally noticed this issue! Those two words have almost become a shadow in my life, you know!"
With an aged demeanor, Lilina waved at me: "Therefore, we must decide on a new god title. The Father God exists in the Star Domain, and the God King exists in Huron; those are the easiest and most straightforward names to think of and they’re taken, we can’t use them, so... hmm... let’s rule some out... boss, how about you’re called Dad God?"
