Chapter 1687: Chapter 9: Shattered Insignia (Part 2)

If we purely talk about physical constitution, these civilians are much stronger than the humans on Water Blue Star. After all, this is a relatively advanced civilization, ahead in personal gene and constitution enhancement by far.

If these civilians were all trained and equipped accordingly, they could become formidable forces, like today, fighting those insects with Dark Spiritual Artifact spears, performing no less ambiguously compared to those Dark Spirits.

The perspective shifted, in the magical image, Yadun and his group had gradually arrived at the safe zone through the Teleportation Array.

This Teleportation Array imprint was embedded in the Compass, capable of repeated activation, but it is not a profound formation, limiting teleportation to within the planet.

Everyone is still on Saba Star now, but luckily, there are no longer insect swarm sieges nearby, giving these survivors a sigh of relief.

The scene just now was too horrifying, surrounded by an insect swarm. Even if it was a relatively small scout team, it constituted a dreadful army for the Phantom Spirit Clan, with its already scarce population.

Most of the survivors are ordinary people, making up the majority. In the current social framework of the Phantom Spirit Clan, these commoners do not engage in combat. So even if their base constitution surpasses that of the Water Blue Star people, when faced with real danger, their performance is not significantly better.

"We finally escaped, may the Void God bless us, we are finally safe."

Nancy wiped the sweat off her forehead and subconsciously made a prayer.

Beside, Yadun thoughtfully eyed the Holy Hall Emblem on Nancy’s chest, scratched and marred, and inquired:

"Nancy, was that an accident?"

Upon hearing this, Nancy snapped back from his earlier joy, then followed Yadun’s gaze to his chest, his face pausing slightly, suddenly at a loss for how to begin.

"An accident? That was by no means an accident! Just now, this coward abandoned his identity as a Holy Temple Knight before everyone! He betrayed his vow! This damn deserter!"

Suddenly, a voice interjected, drawing the crowd’s attention.

Yadun turned to look and saw a male clansman in a robe approaching, his attire instantly revealing his identity, the robe unmistakably that of a Star System Governor. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"I..."

Nancy appeared as if he wanted to speak but hesitated, the words boiled at the edge of his tongue for a long time before he finally sighed, remaining silent.

The Governor coldly sneered, as Nancy’s prior attitude and the act of threatening him with a Light Blade had truly left him humiliated.

Importantly, in this environment, he must act swiftly against Nancy, or else Nancy’s strength and status amongst the Holy Temple Knights might ultimately undermine his authority as a Governor, reducing him to a mere puppet.

Nancy is a Holy Temple Knight, a high-status profession in the Dark Faith Alliance, but this is relative.

Unfortunately for him, the rank of a Star System Governor surpasses his, essentially his superior within the Holy Hall, right below the Elders, holding the power to dismiss a Holy Temple Knight in special circumstances.

The surrounding Holy Temple Knights, upon seeing this scenario, all showed anxious expressions, stepping nearer, wanting to say something.

"It’s not like that, Lord Governor, and this hero, there’s some misunderstanding, Nancy did not break his vow, he just..."

A team member was hastily explaining, but halfway, the Governor rudely interrupted.

"I know Nancy is your captain, but don’t forget, you all are part of the Holy Hall, noble warriors of faith. Before pleading for his blasphemous action, understand your true stance. Nancy’s public desecration of his Holy Hall Imprint signifies rejecting the Divine Hall, rejecting the Void God. Are you now pleading for him because you wish to follow in his steps!?"

This declaration from the Governor silenced those who initially wanted to intercede.

"The situation then was complicated... well, never mind, there’s nothing more to say, I’ll bear the consequences of my decision."

Nancy sighed, speaking no further.

The Governor sneered and was about to advance to dismiss Nancy when a pair of hands suddenly blocked his path.

"I saw his battle, he is no coward nor deserter, but a true warrior willing to face death! In contrast, as the Star System Governor and leader of this Survivor Camp, you did not step out to fight in the face of danger, but instead, hid behind women and children. To me, you are the coward!"

A deep voice echoed, and the Governor looked up in surprise at the owner’s arm, recognizing the figure as Yadun, a Transcendent warrior of the Phantom Spirit Clan, hailed as a hero by the people.

"Do you know what you are saying, warrior!"

The Governor’s face turned a darker hue. Knowing he shouldn’t argue under the current circumstances but Yadun’s words cut too sharply. If left unanswered, his standing as Governor within the group would surely diminish.

As he prepared to act out, several figures appeared, blocking his way, all part of the group of Phantom Spirit Clan who arrived with Yadun.

"What is happening! Are you all rebelling!?"

The Governor questioned in a panicked voice.

He felt as if they’d all gone mad. Even though the Phantom Spirit Clan suffered unprecedented trauma under the Heavy Clan’s assault, the centuries-long authority of the Holy Hall should have prevented such boldness, what could their confidence be?

Only then did the Governor finally have a chance to scrutinize the group before him, yet in the next moment, he shuddered, his pupils dilating fiercely, as he fixated on a spot on their arms.

"You, you all... how could you..."

The Governor’s face changed drastically at the sight, utterly disbelieving of the scene before him, momentarily lost for words.

"What is going on?"

Beside them, Nancy was still in a daze at the scene, not yet grasping what had happened.

Grateful for Yadun and others standing up for him, but also concerned that his benefactor, having saved his life, might offend the Governor and affect themselves.

No one expected the tension to escalate so swiftly, and the Governor seemed to have uncovered something significant, puzzling Nancy and the nearby team members.

One cannot blame them, as within the Holy Hall, different teams of Holy Temple Knights imprint their Holy Hall Emblems in varying spots, and back then, everyone was concentrated on battling, with no extra energy to notice their arm anomalies.

Fortunately, with the battle ending, calm temporarily returned, allowing people to observe the reinforcements, quickly discovering the peculiarity of their Holy Hall Emblem.
