World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 60: Draconic Difficulty
Leon immediately chose the view option, his heart thumping in anticipation.
[Evolution Requirements to Tier One]
[1. Gather 10 Tier One Soul Crystals (0/10)]
[2. Cut a Tier One Vicious Vine Root (0/1)]
[3. Kill a Tier One Evolved Wyvern alone (0/1)]
Leon felt his heartbeat falter as he read the messages. ’Wait, what?’
He almost couldn’t believe it. The first requirement was hard, but manageable. It only said he should gather the crystals. That meant he could pick one on the ground, and it would count as one.
The second requirement was a bit complicated. He didn’t know what a Vicious Vine was, but he knew it would definitely be trouble since it was at Tier One.
’This last one, however...’
Leon might not be into Jurassic-themed stories, but he knew a wyvern was somewhat related to a dragon. And dragons were always treated as absolute monsters or final bosses in games.
’Kill a Tier One Evolved Wyvern alone...’
The tag ’alone’ was what disturbed him the most.
’Alone? Seriously? Me?’
He knew he had stats that made him seem monstrous, but they were nothing compared to a true Tier One Evolved beast.
’I’m just Level 25, for goodness sake.’
Sighing, he rubbed his eyelids tiredly, causing Richard to look at him worriedly.
"Boss, is something wrong?"
The others at the back also leaned forward, all casting worried gazes at him.
"It’s alright." He waved dismissively and sank into the seat, closing his eyes. He didn’t say anything throughout the ride, simply clearing his mind of all thoughts until they arrived back at the camp.
When they alighted from the vehicles, he walked over to Reymond and said, "You’ll handle the collection of our shares. I have something to do."
The brown-haired boy was surprised, but nodded. "Alright. Take care of yourself."
Seeing his expression, Reymond thought he was simply tired from the fight and needed to rest.
Selene’s eyes narrowed, sensing that it wasn’t simply fatigue. However, she didn’t really care, so she ignored him. The others watched him return to their assigned house, then turned their attention to Captain Jester.
The old man knew what they wanted, so he sighed and called them into the police station. He needed to uphold his end of the deal.
Leon returned to his room with a solemn expression, wondering how exactly he was going to complete all his evolution requirements.
Thyra followed behind him with a concerned frown. "Leon? You’re looking like the world suddenly became your problem. Have you seen your evolution requirements?"
Dropping his sword by the wall, he groaned and answered. "Yeah, and it’s pretty hard—just like you said."
Already expecting this, Thyra wasn’t surprised. "Alright. Let me see."
She said, stretching out her hand. Leon looked at it in confusion, so she rolled her eyes and explained.
"It’s not just something you can just let me see. You need physical contact."
Leon still stared at her hand dubiously. "Are you sure you’re not tricking me into holding hands with you?"
"Well, perhaps." She giggled, seemingly enjoying his suspicious looks.
Pursing his lips, Leon reluctantly agreed and held her hand. Instantly, he felt a current pass through his body. Thyra’s hand was soft, like that of a baby. It felt comfortable to hold, and he felt his body relax instinctively.
’Strange.’
Pushing his mind off the detail, he brought up his interface, and immediately noticed that her eyes snapped to it.
’So she can truly see it when we hold hands? Weird.’
Thyra stared at the screen for a few seconds, then frowned.
"A wyvern? Do those beasts still exist in your world?"
Her question made Leon realize an even bigger problem. As far as he knew, there were only normal animals that had changed into mutated beasts. Wyverns and dragons were fictional creatures.
"Ugh. They don’t exist at all. Only in movies, I guess."
Unexpectedly, the purple-eyed lady disagreed with him. "That would be impossible. Most inhabited worlds possess draconic lifeforms. It’s just that most times, they hibernate for centuries."
"Uh... but if they indeed existed, scientists would have found them." Leon said, feeling confused.
"That doesn’t matter, though." She sighed, releasing his hand and plopping onto the bed. "Your world experiences volcanic bursts and earthquakes, right?"
Leon nodded, causing her to smile and continue.
"So definitely, your world has draconic creatures. They mostly live in the crust of the planet, and their movements cause all these geographical disturbances."
Leon was amazed by the new information, but he still didn’t feel good. ’Well, at least I know a wyvern is out there, waiting for me to come kill it.’
The thought made him pause, and he remembered something. ’Would there be a Godzilla out there too? Ugh.’
Realizing that he would develop a headache if he continued with this line of thoughts, Leon stopped thinking about it.
Thyra also spoke up, attracting his attention.
"Well, the difficulty is surely unlike any I’ve heard of. It’s almost like the Star Stream wants to kill you. But you don’t have to worry."
"I don’t?" Leon tilted his head a little.
She spread her arms, feeling the fluffy texture of the king-sized bed.
"Yes. The Star Stream wouldn’t give you a mission that is impossible to complete. What you need to focus on for now, is collecting the strongest treasures you can gather. Anything that can give additional buffs to your stats."
Leon grew tense, a wave of unease spreading in his heart. "Is it because... I would no longer level up and receive stat points?"
Thyra nodded solemnly. "From now until you complete all the requirements, you are eternally stuck in Level 25."
Although he already guessed this, Leon still felt his heart tightening.
’If I can’t grow stronger... how am I supposed to be strong enough to save Clara?’
That left him only one choice—complete the evolution requirements as fast as possible.
Having reached that conclusion, he brought up his status window to allocate his remaining stat points.
