World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 117: Searching for Stars (1)
The next morning, Leon woke up with a yawn, then sat up and stretched his arms.
Glancing to his side, he saw Thyra looking at him with a smile. She was still lying on the bed, but there was a distance of a few inches between them. This proved that she hadn’t been naughty at all during the night.
"Good morning," He said to her, then got off the bed. She replied with a nod, watching him get into the bathroom and take a shower.
About seven minutes later, he returned and put on light clothing.
"Your gaze is strange today. Are you anticipating something?"
He asked, feeling her gaze sliding over his exposed torso that soon disappeared under his shirt.
"Perhaps? I won’t drop spoilers, but you’d be in for a special surprise today, Little Leon."
Leon’s eyes narrowed at her words, but he didn’t press for answers. Knowing Thyra, it was probably something that wouldn’t hurt him.
So, he simply noted her words and began wearing his Phantom Assault Armor. The strange, futuristic armor clung to his skin comfortably, and even though he had worn it before, Leon felt a bit of surprise.
’Whoever made this is a master craftsman.’
Picking up his Jade Blade, he reminisced about his fight against the Tier One Evolved Spider. It was his first dreadful battle, and he had almost died in that fight.
Yet, he had persisted and survived, becoming stronger in the process.
’Ah, I somehow feel like years have passed. Goodness.’
Mentally facepalming, he gestured to Thyra and stepped out of the room. The seductive ghost followed behind him, a faint smile on her lips.
When Leon arrived at the ground floor, there were five people present—Selene, Gwen, Marie, Richard, and Cassie.
They were all dressed and discussing among themselves. When Leon appeared, he greeted them, and they naturally returned the greeting.
That was when Leon noticed the serious atmosphere in the living room.
Tilting his head, he asked, "Did something happen?"
Everyone automatically turned to Richard who had an anxious expression on his face.
The brown-haired guy began to speak, saying, "Last night, I was out hunting with Little West in the surrounding area. However, I suddenly noticed a strange phenomenon in the sky."
Hearing this, Leon’s expression changed. A strange phenomenon? That was definitely something massive. Still, he didn’t interrupt and let the young man continue.
"It was like a rather big star at first, then it broke apart into several other smaller stars—probably thousands. They were really like shooting stars. Most of them disappeared into the horizon. Meanwhile, I noticed that a few probably landed in this country or our surroundings. In fact, one seemed to land right in Brooklyn, but I’m not sure where it landed."
After saying this, he paused and looked at Leon. The black-haired young man continued looking at him without any change in his expression.
Then, Leon’s eyes shifted to Thyra who was beside him. Unseen by anyone, Thyra’s smile turned into a smirk, letting Leon realize that this was the surprise she had been talking about.
Instantly, his interest rose, and he turned back to Richard.
"Did you try tracing the one that probably landed in Brooklyn?"
"No, I didn’t," Richard shook his head. "It was almost nearing midnight, and I feared I would be leaving the shelter unprotected."
Leon nodded in understanding, then fell into deep thoughts.
This was surely something intriguing. At first, the idea that the shooting stars were small meteors came to his mind, but then he dismissed the thought. After all, there had been no explosion or quake at all.
’I guess I’ll have to alter my plan for today.’
Returning from his thoughts, he looked at Richard and said.
"You’re coming with me. We’re going to try and locate where that stuff landed."
"Aye, boss!" He nodded enthusiastically.
Then, Leon turned to Selene. "You should take my place and join Gwen in scouting the north. Reymond and Fel can stay behind."
Pausing, he turned to the auburn-haired lady and continued. "You, Cassie, and Miguel will check the south. Do we all agree?"
Nods, smiles, and a casual shrug answered him.
Anticipating what he was going to search for, Leon gestured at Richard, then headed towards the door. The others also got ready to leave and began preparing themselves.
Just as he was about to step out, he paused and glanced at Cassie. The girl’s piercing blue eyes were staring directly at him.
As if sensing her thoughts, his lips twitched, and his glance turned into a glare.
"Do. Not. Follow. Me."
He said seriously, causing her to pout and look away. He didn’t say anything anymore, but his expression was enough to tell her that disobeying him wouldn’t be without consequences.
And remembering the consequences she faced yesterday... the normally expressionless girl blushed.
Unfortunately, Leon failed to catch this sight as he had already stepped outside with Richard.
The brown-haired, bespectacled guy brought the Tamer’s Whistle to his lips and blew it.
A peculiar whistling sound was transmitted, and in a few seconds, Little West rushed over, its large paws thudding against the ground. The moment it saw Leon, a hint of fear appeared in the beast’s eyes, and it immediately went to hide behind Richard.
The beast tamer laughed awkwardly and said, "Looks like this guy still remembers that you’re the one who subdued it."
Leon nodded faintly, then asked, "Can you see what level it is?"
Richard immediately nodded, a wide grin on his face. "I can. This big cat here is currently Level 25, on the verge of becoming a Tier One Evolved beast."
’Oh?’ Leon was intrigued, but then he smiled. "That’s good. A Tier One Evolved beast will undoubtedly be powerful. And you? What level are you now?"
"I’m currently Level 23," Richard replied seriously.
A flash of surprise crossed Leon’s eyes, realizing that his subordinates were advancing much faster than they had in the past.
’If I don’t up my efforts, I’ll be left in the dust. And that... is unacceptable.’
Still, he felt a bit indignant. It wasn’t his fault that he hadn’t become Tier One after all. Where exactly was he supposed to find a Wyvern?
Feeling like the Star Stream was intentionally stalling his growth, he scowled inwardly and said to the guy beside him.
"Lead the way."
