Chapter 113: Supplies and Survivors

Under Leon’s precise orders and Richard’s coordination, the students consisting mostly of males began to load the supplies Leon had marked into the three buses.

Although the students were mortal humans, they were still valuable as workers and were able to make things faster.

Leon nodded in satisfaction, watching three of them carry the last bag of rice out of the supermarket.

Ten minutes later, everything Leon had marked had been loaded into the buses, with a few items left behind because there wasn’t enough space.

Glancing at the exhausted teenagers, Leon decided to be a bit generous.

"You guys have five minutes to rest before we move. In the meantime, you can check around and pick anything you fancy."

Although this was the first time the students saw him, they instinctively understood that he was of high position. After all, even someone like Marie showed him respect and called him boss.

A few older ones, on the verge of adulthood, felt envious. After all, Marie was an incredibly beautiful woman with perfect curves. To have her call you ’boss’...

Unaware of his students’ thoughts, Quinn looked at Leon from a distance, his expression tense. He could already tell that Leon was the true leader of Marie’s group, and countless worries instantly plagued his mind.

’They just found supplies that could last their small group for a long time. But now that we’re joining in, the duration would be greatly reduced. Besides, the timing is too precise. It’s going to make us look like leeches.’

He felt his brain throb with worry.

’That guy looks young too, but he’s definitely not a high-school student. Probably a university student. Youngsters these days are quite hot-blooded. How will he treat us? And that aside... is he lustful? I don’t want any harm to befall Clarice or the female students.’

Just as he was thinking deeply, he froze when he heard a cold voice behind him.

"You’ve been staring at the boss too deeply. What is going on in that scholarly skull of yours?"

Turning around stiffly, he saw Cassie standing behind him, her face completely expressionless.

Quinn gulped and replied with an awkward smile, "O-oh, it’s nothing actually. I was just wondering how impressive he is."

Cassie’s eyes narrowed suspiciously, but then relaxed.

"In that case, you should know that the boss is very impressive—far beyond what you can imagine. He’s the epitome of strength and power."

Hearing her words that sounded like that of a religious fanatic, the teacher’s lips twitched.

’Really... a strange lady.’

Still, he played along and pretended to be surprised, nodding to everything she said.

Soon, the five-minute break Leon gave was up, and everyone began moving again. They got into the buses, killed a few zombies that were lured over by the attractive scent of humans, then drove off.

The journey was silent, and as Leon sat alone, he looked outside the window, reminiscing his childhood memories.

His father and his mother...

He shook his head, dispelling the memories. They were completely unnecessary for now, and there was no reason to have unwarranted flashbacks.

’Ah, really. The world has become so boring.’

He missed playing the games Peter created while trying to beat him at his own game.

’Perhaps a game console would be dropped as a reward for killing something one day?’

Discarding his thoughts again, he straightened when he realized they had finally gotten back to the apartment they were staying in.

Under Richard’s command, the students began offloading the supplies from the buses and then carried them inside.

Leon didn’t join them. Instead, he returned to his room to change into casual clothes.

As soon as they entered, Thyra jumped onto the bed, bouncing and squealing like an excited kid.

Leon looked at her with a faint frown. "What has gotten into you?"

Grinning radiantly, she answered, "Someone called me the most beautiful they’ve ever seen. Shouldn’t I be happy?"

Leon rolled his eyes and resumed removing the Phantom Assault Armor. To think he actually thought it was something serious.

"Well, I wasn’t lying when I said that."

Thyra chuckled, her gaze locking on his broad back as he changed outfits.

"Oh well, you should expect to see people grow even more charming in the future. After all, the higher your strength, the purer the quality of your mana. And mana only beautifies a person, bringing them closer to perfection."

Leon already knew something like this was possible, so he wasn’t really surprised. He nodded to her words, then buttoned up his shirt.

Once he was properly dressed, he stepped out of the room and found Marie waiting for him in the hallway.

She immediately straightened, her gaze turning serious.

Leon paused, then said, "I’m listening. Recount everything that led to... this."

Marie nodded, then informed him of how they had discovered the students and rescued them from imminent death. Also, she informed him of her choice to bring them away from the school and to this apartment.

Leon nodded in understanding, then thought to himself, ’Her compassion for humans is still strong... wait. What am I saying? Wouldn’t I do the same if I were in her shoes?’

He paused, seriously considering the question before answering himself.

’I’m not sure.’

The answer stunned him, and he felt some apprehension towards himself.

’I wouldn’t help them? I’d leave a group of starving students trapped in a school and walk away?’

It felt absurd, but he had to stop the thoughts. Marie had already noticed he was zoning out.

"In that case, they can stay," He said, then quickly added. "Only if they adhere to the rules, of course."

Marie nodded, already expecting that.

Leon continued, "Ask if there’s any of them that’s ready to become evolvers, and as for the others, make them work. I don’t like leeches."

The auburn-haired woman hesitated. "But... they’re young."

Leon shrugged and said firmly, "Doesn’t matter. We don’t have the luxury of being their nanny. Only those in the elementary section can be excluded. The rest should start being responsible."

Hearing this, Marie relaxed and nodded. This was what she wanted to clarify, and knowing he wasn’t forcing the younger ones to work, she was relieved.

’I’m glad I met someone like you, boss.’

She thought inwardly, then immediately went to round up the students and their two teachers to relay his message.

While she did that, Leon turned around and went to look for Fel.
