Chapter 76: Is Mia jealous!!
Trevor nodded slightly and helped her clean up.
The full weight of fear had finally settled on him now, but Chloe still seemed completely unbothered by everything that had happened. It was as though it was something entirely normal to her.
Soon, Chloe was finally done cleaning up. Trevor cleaned up as well, and together the two of them walked to the door, Trevor escorting her out of the house.
Meanwhile, what Trevor failed to realize was that his mom had stepped out of her room and was watching him escort the girl, her expression resembling that of someone who had just had her man taken away from her.
When Trevor was done, he immediately stepped back into the house and closed the door silently behind him, trying not to disturb his mother, who he assumed was already asleep in her room.
But to his surprise, the moment he turned around, he was startled by Mia, who was standing right behind him.
"What? You scared me a little," Trevor said, clearly shaken by his mom’s sudden presence.
"Well, how did the study session go?" she asked, her smile slightly too wide, as though she was forcing it.
Trevor didn’t really notice, so he immediately answered her.
"Yeah, it was good, Mom. Thanks for asking," Trevor replied as he calmly walked past her, heading down the corridor toward his room, trying to appear relaxed.
Mia only nodded at his words as she watched him move away.
Her eyes were dilating slightly. She had clearly seen everything that had gone down, and she wasn’t sure how she felt about it. There was a strange, uncomfortable sensation deep in her gut, one she couldn’t quite explain.
She tried to overlook the anger and jealousy rising within her, but she couldn’t fully suppress it. Just before Trevor could turn into his room, she finally spoke up.
"Well, I hope you used protection," Mia shouted, her voice carrying a strange edge, almost as if she was in pain.
But the moment she realized what she had just said, she immediately covered her mouth with her palms.
Trevor, who had already been on his way to his room, stopped for a split second and turned to look at his mom. His face turned completely red, her words already hinting at what he had tried to ignore.
But before he could respond, Mia had already rushed into her room and slammed the door shut behind her.
Trevor’s heart was racing faster than he could imagine.
He went straight to bed, but he couldn’t sleep. Something about the way his mom had said that sentence kept him awake.
It had sounded almost like jealousy... or maybe anger.
Deep down, he just hoped she wouldn’t get too angry at him.
Trevor barely got any sleep that night as he kept replaying everything that had happened over and over in his mind.
Eventually, though, exhaustion took over, and he drifted off.
The next morning, he woke up early and started doing the house chores, trying to ease the tension between them and clear the air in any way he could.
But to his surprise, his mom came out wearing a highly revealing nightgown.
Trevor was so shocked he couldn’t even say a word.
The nightgown was clearly designed for both comfort and seduction. It left very little of her body to the imagination. It was loose, almost flowing, yet nearly transparent at the same time.
Trevor wanted to point out that she might have come out wearing the wrong thing, but he decided against it. Maybe she just trusted him... or maybe she was just too tired to notice.
Still, he was unsettled. His mom rarely woke up early. Most days, he would already be at school before she even got out of bed. And considering what had happened the previous night, he couldn’t help but feel suspicious.
Even so, Trevor didn’t say anything.
He simply finished everything he had to do and got himself ready to head to the bread store.
But just before he could leave, he got a text from Caroline. She said she would come herself to collect the game and that she would explain everything at school the next day.
That was when Trevor knew something was definitely wrong with her. He had suspected it the night before but had pushed the thought aside. Now, he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
Immediately after stepping outside, he saw her waiting for him in a black tinted car.
He walked straight up to her, handed over the game, and though neither of them said a word, it felt like they communicated everything through eye contact. He knew it wasn’t the right time to talk.
Trevor watched as her car drove off into the distance before finally heading back inside the house.
Once inside, he quickly got dressed and told his mom he was going to the bread factory to see Miss Rose and that he would be back soon.
Mia simply nodded and let him go.
After all, he had already done everything he needed to do that morning, including cooking.
Trevor stepped outside and took an Uber to the estate where she lived.
It wasn’t far from his house, barely a ten-minute drive.
Soon enough, he got down, paid the driver, and proceeded into the compound.
It wasn’t a large place, just a neighborhood made up of several buildings, with hers being one of them.
He made his way to her apartment and gently knocked on the door.
From outside, he could clearly hear shouting coming from within.
And he already knew exactly what was going on.
Rose had been in a relationship with her boyfriend for about two years now, and as anyone could guess, it was a very toxic one.
Back when Trevor still worked at the bread factory, there were times her boyfriend, Victor, would storm in, shouting at the top of his voice.
Other times, she would step outside to take calls, venting to her friends about how terrible the relationship was and how badly she wanted to leave, but was afraid of being alone again.
Back then, Trevor didn’t really care. And even now, he still didn’t.
When no one answered the door, he knocked again, a bit louder this time.
"Who the hell is that? Can’t you see we’re busy?" a hoarse voice yelled from inside.
"I’m sure it’s a man. After all, all you do when I’m gone is cheat!" the man accused angrily as he stormed toward the door.
