Chapter 4015 - 4034: You’re Not Doing This for a Woman, Are You?
"By the way, since the planet is so dangerous, I definitely need to find my wife as a helper..."
Lin Chen didn’t finish his sentence, but the meaning was clear.
You’re asking me not to tell anyone, but considering how dangerous this is, finding someone to help is quite normal, right?
Even if I don’t explicitly say it, wouldn’t everyone understand once I’ve done it?
Zhang Zhongjiu stared at Lin Chen, who looked innocent as he gestured.
This isn’t trying to outsmart you; it’s a real possibility.
Zhang Zhongjiu sighed, "I’ll send you the information. Just don’t leak it, and even if you do, it doesn’t really matter because without the formula, the information itself is useless."
"If in the end, they trace it back to my family, we naturally have ways to know where it came from."
Zhang Zhongjiu was warning Lin Chen that he could tell his family, but shouldn’t spread it around recklessly. Don’t think you can tell others unbeknownst to us, ultimately it will trace back to our family. The channels can’t remain undisclosed.
Lin Chen smiled slightly, "Don’t worry, I’m not a blabbermouth."
Zhang Zhongjiu nodded, "That’s for the best."
Lin Chen chuckled, "Waiting for your news."
Zhang Zhongjiu gazed into Lin Chen’s eyes, asking, "Are you planning to go right away?"
Lin Chen smiled, "No rush, you haven’t returned yet either, and won’t this ultimately require your help?"
Zhang Zhongjiu said calmly, "It won’t be long before I’m transferred off Planet 49."
Lin Chen asked in surprise, "You’re going back?"
Zhang Zhongjiu nodded, "Yes, this exploration of your world has yielded many valuable items because I was responsible for the purification of Sea of Abandonment 235, and I was the one who initially brought you all back. Later, I participated in the scientific expedition, which is a considerable contribution."
Lin Chen asked with interest, "That is indeed a big contribution. What benefit can you gain from it?"
Zhang Zhongjiu replied, "I don’t need anything else, just a transfer order to get me back. If I go back on my own, it’s illegal and I could be arrested and imprisoned anytime."
"Only with a transfer order can I justifiedly return. No matter what I want to do after going back, this is a necessary first step."
Lin Chen thought for a moment, then asked, "Going back, will you be in danger? Or will what you’re planning lead to your death?"
Zhang Zhongjiu answered calmly, "There will be danger, but I shouldn’t die. If I fail, the worst is being driven away, to a place from where there’s no return."
Lin Chen scrutinized Zhang Zhongjiu’s eyes, "For a woman, maybe?"
Zhang Zhongjiu’s gaze suddenly turned cold, looking at Lin Chen for a few moments before saying, "We’ve talked enough for today; you should go back now."
Lin Chen shrugged, smiling, "Alright, alright, I won’t ask anymore. But since you’re leaving, I should ask, if I obtain the pheromones, where can I find you?"
Zhang Zhongjiu answered, "When I’m really leaving, I’ll leave you a message since even I don’t know how the future will unfold now."
"Alright then."
Lin Chen stood up, smiled, "Then I wish your dreams come true."
Leaving Zhang Zhongjiu’s house, Lin Chen’s steps were light.
This trip wasn’t in vain.
Though the information obtained was limited, at least he found a channel for Level 8 advancement potion.
Federation Warriors are spread across various planets, with each planet having different circumstances. Generations of Warriors continually seek advancement methods, and through constant effort, more than one effective method for improvement has naturally emerged.
These methods are generally related to the environment of the one who masters them, but regardless of the method, they can only claim a high probability of success, not a guarantee of success. Even so, people still fight for these methods, while many don’t even have the qualification to try.
Planet 49, being the closest small planet to the Sea of Abandonment, has its people tasked primarily with monitoring and purifying the Sea, preventing its outward expansion—like border town troops monitoring and guarding against enemy invasions.
Resources on this planet are simple, and the population is small. Most who immigrated here were ordinary Federation citizens without much hope or capital. Over such a long development, Seventh Level Warriors represent the limit for everyone.
It’s not that they don’t want to advance to Level 8, nor that they lack the talent; they simply have no way to achieve it.
As for why they don’t leave, it’s like a wealthy person on a small town—living comfortably at the pinnacle of the town, with power and money, but leaving for the county, what would they be?
Do they have talent?
The county has even more talented people; it’s harder to stand out!
People in the county can’t climb higher, so what makes you, someone from a small town, think you can?
Lin Chen wasn’t urgently trying to reach higher realms; he just wanted to understand and prepare for now.
Knowing and not doing anything and wanting to do something but completely unaware of how are two different things.
Lin Chen returned home, where Chu Jiaxue was lying on the sofa watching a show. Seeing him return, she sat up.
"How did it go?"
Lin Chen smiled, "Found out a few things, a bit of a harvest, but it’s very dangerous. With our capabilities, achieving it won’t be easy."
Chu Jiaxue curiously asked, "Tell me?"
Lin Chen explained briefly, "It’s about killing a foreign beast on a specific planet and using a part of its body as a material to make a potion, but the method is only known to Zhang Zhongjiu’s family, even he doesn’t know."
Chu Jiaxue realized, "Exchanging materials for potions?"
Lin Chen chuckled bitterly, "Yes, but since they own the formula, they naturally charge a fee—half for them, Zhang Zhongjiu needs a portion too, meaning at least four parts material are needed for one potion."
Chu Jiaxue said in surprise, "So Zhang Zhongjiu really is a member of a big family, with quite a background?"
Lin Chen nodded, "It seems so; he didn’t elaborate, but I guessed some things which he didn’t deny. I estimate he’s like a talented but unfavored illegitimate child in novels..."
Chu Jiaxue chuckled lightly, "That’s quite normal, after all, in a sprawling family, truly controlling family resources often falls to just one or two lines, while others, though part of the family, are far from the core."
"In such situations, if your line has a highly talented kid wanting the same resources as the direct descendant of the family’s actual ruler, it’s basically impossible."
"Usually, a family gives a certain amount of resources for development, but it’s merely for nurturing the person as an aide to the main line’s direct descendant, trying to replace the main line? Not possible..."
