Eunuch Shi saw the carriage being stopped and waited a moment; none of the princess’s attendants spoke up, and the coachman remained seated nonchalantly at the edge of the carriage.

His thoughts turned for a moment, then he jumped down from the carriage and approached the palace gate, clearing his throat coldly.

"What’s the matter here?" He asked irritably, dusting off his clothes and glaring at the line of guards standing before him.

"It’s Eunuch Shi! There is a carriage trying to enter, and we are merely carrying out our duty," the captain of the guards said, bowing and scraping, trying to explain to Eunuch Shi.

Eunuch Shi raised an eyebrow, glanced back at the carriage, and then furiously glared at the captain, scolding, "Are you blind? Can’t you see this is Prince Mei Residence’s carriage? Inside sits Princess Mei, so move aside promptly and let the carriage enter the Imperial Palace."

The captain looked at the carriage’s insignia, frowning, and with reluctance lowered his head, "Eunuch Shi, as you know, if I let Prince Mei Residence’s carriage in, then all the other carriages will follow suit, making my job very difficult.
