Twisted Dreams
Chapter 451 - 519: Cao Yi and Nam Ji-ah
Cao Yi patiently replied:
"Because those monsters have already appeared in the Xia Country!"
The mockery in An Dacheng’s eyes grew stronger, and he said:
"Then here’s another question.
Didn’t you say those monsters could wipe out South Korea?
So why hasn’t the Xia Country been annihilated?"
Cao Yi replied:
"The Xia Country naturally has its own methods."
Cao Yi couldn’t possibly divulge information about the Death God.
The man who wiped out the Celestial Race in the desolate mountains is a top secret of the Security Administration.
An Dacheng raised his eyebrows:
"Oh? Your Xia Country has already gone through a great war, eliminating enough monsters to destroy all of South Korea.
Ha ha ha, yet we haven’t received any news of a great battle in the Xia Country.
Don’t underestimate the intelligence department of our City Defense Bureau, okay?
Are you saying your Extraordinary beings easily and without a trace destroyed those monsters?"
Cao Yi pressed his lips together:
"That’s the truth."
The faces of the people present were filled with anger.
Does your Xia Country look down on us in South Korea?
These small fry you easily eliminated could destroy South Korea?
An Dacheng shook his head with a smile:
"Enough, let’s assume you have such capability.
Then let me ask the second question I want to ask.
You previously said that human technology cannot determine the whereabouts of those monsters, right?
So how did you determine their next invasion will be in South Korea?"
Cao Yi said quietly:
"I told you, the Xia Country has its own methods.
The Xia Country’s achievements in Extraordinary Civilization surpass your South Korea’s by tenfold and then some."
An Dacheng interlaced his fingers and placed them on the coffee table in front of him.
He had a look of someone who had the upper hand, staring at Cao Yi:
"Director Cao, don’t overestimate the Xia Country’s Extraordinary methods, and don’t underestimate South Korea’s either.
I admit Xia Country was lucky, with the Spiritual Energy Revival happening a bit earlier.
But our South Korean Extraordinaries are not useless.
Director Cao, your lies are too clumsy, and your behavior too despicable."
Cao Yi raised an eyebrow:
"Despicable?"
An Dacheng handed his phone to Cao Yi.
On the phone was an open short video app.
Every video was about South Korea facing the end of the world.
An Dacheng said:
"Since Director Cao got off the plane yesterday, these video apps have been bombarded with doomsday videos.
I suppose this is the handiwork of your Security Administration, right?
You’re trying to use the end of the world to create public opinion, then have the Administrator enter South Korea?
I can tell you clearly, dream on."
The more An Dacheng spoke, the more reasonable it seemed to him.
That’s how people are, turning speculated things into truth.
They’d rather not believe in doomsday, preferring to think a precious relic will appear in South Korea.
Thus, Cao Yi became the bad guy.
Cao Yi had no intention of chatting with An Dacheng any longer.
Better to return to the Xia Country early and arrange defense against the Celestial Race.
When someone treats you like a fool, everything you do seems foolish.
Already regarded as a liar, anything said is considered a lie.
Cao Yi stood up:
"Nothing left to say."
An Dacheng, smiling, stood up and extended his hand:
"The dinner party is ready."
Cao Yi did not shake hands with An Dacheng, saying:
"You’re just a pure idiot."
An Dacheng was stunned.
Was he just insulted?
Was he just openly insulted like that?
An Dacheng squinted his eyes:
"Director Cao, you’re going too far."
Cao Yi looked at An Dacheng like looking at a dead person.
As long as South Korea exists, An Dacheng is the Director of the City Defense Bureau.
If South Korea ceases to exist, An Dacheng will be a refugee.
Cao Yi walked towards the door.
Two City Defense Bureau Administrators intended to embarrass Cao Yi and attempted to trip him up with Spiritual Power.
They tried to invade Cao Yi’s mind with Spiritual Power, causing temporary dizziness and embarrassment.
Their superior being insulted was also an insult to them.
Yet, to Cao Yi, these newly Tier Three Extraordinaries were just children.
Black Flames flickered in Cao Yi’s eyes, and the two City Defense Bureau Administrators suddenly felt dizzy, falling to the ground with a ’thud.’
"Bastard, how dare you!"
An Dacheng was completely furious.
Cao Yi glanced at An Dacheng:
"Fatty An, am I being too kind to you?"
The tone was eerie, as if coming from the Nine Netherworld, like a Hell Messenger had descended.
An Dacheng instinctively felt fear.
Cao Yi’s Demon Body was akin to a Soul Hooker, the bane of all souls.
An Dacheng felt his soul trembling, cold sweat dripping from his face.
The Security Administration Director was indeed terrifying!
...
South Korea, a hotel.
Cao Yi’s flight was at four in the morning; it was now ten at night, and he didn’t plan to sleep.
Fear that South Korea would soon be gone, he decided to enjoy the night.
While South Korea’s red-light districts are legal, Cao Yi didn’t care for paid encounters.
He preferred virtuous women.
Luckily, he indeed found a charming woman.
Her name was Nam Ji-ah.
With his keen eyes, Cao Yi judged this woman to be an elegant lady, possibly even the wife of a conglomerate boss.
After finishing his business, Cao Yi wrapped an arm around his night’s companion and chatted.
Interestingly, Nam Ji-ah could speak the Xia Country dialect, and through their conversation, Cao Yi learned she was originally from the Xia Country.
"How did you come to South Korea?"
Cao Yi valued post-event tenderness and wouldn’t be like those guys who light a cigarette and fall asleep right after.
Nam Ji-ah’s face flushed as she stroked Cao Yi’s chest, her eyes dreamy, lost in remembrance:
"Do you know Xiaojiang Village? It’s a tiny village, very backward, and that’s where I grew up."
Cao Yi enjoyed listening to stories.
A girl from a poor mountainous village becoming a conglomerate wife step by step was quite inspirational.
Though the name Xiaojiang Village sounded familiar.
He remembered, after the Celestial Race descended, the Human-faced Bear visited that village, and many people died.
Nam Ji-ah said:
"My family wanted me to marry, but I didn’t want to be trapped in the mountains like my mother.
So, I studied hard and learned tirelessly."
Cao Yi patted Nam Ji-ah’s head:
"Then you got into a prestigious university and came to South Korea to develop?"
Nam Ji-ah shook her head bitterly:
"Where’s such luck? I got into a vocational high school, specializing in modeling."
Cao Yi closed his mouth.
In an ordinary person’s view, they might say:
A vocational high school? A modeling major?
Is that something you need to qualify for?
Isn’t it just about having all limbs and a harmonious family?
Actually, for some kids, in an environment cut off from information, leaving the mountains for city schooling requires their utmost effort.
Nam Ji-ah continued:
"Later, with a chance, some South Korean media company was recruiting for a girl group, so I gave it a shot.
Luckily, I had a good face, passed, and went abroad."
Cao Yi nodded:
"Not easy."
Fear flashed in Nam Ji-ah’s eyes:
"I used to think girl groups were all glamorous.
Coming to South Korea, I found out that countless so-called girl groups exist here, with only a few people standing out.
Dancers weren’t even treated as people here.
We had to accompany drinks, practice dancing, and endure near-hellish body management.
We were strictly managed, and it felt like being a prostitute without income.
Life was even worse than in the village; at least there, I could get enough to eat.
They favored me because my face didn’t need cosmetic surgery, which had some value."
Cao Yi didn’t know much about South Korean girl groups and didn’t say much more.
