Chapter 287: The Divine Connection

Just as Rion took the step forward, the circle on the ground glowed brightly. The flames disappeared, and his vision twisted.

For a moment, Rion felt like drowning, and the next moment, he found himself standing in his room.

Shocked by the circle working without an offering, he frantically looked around himself and mumbled, "How?"

Sorcery, no matter what kind, followed a fixed set of rules; in a way, it was no different than a branch of supernatural science. However, what he had just done would be an outline or exception of that branch, as he had entirely ignored one of the components, or so he thought.

But as he thought deeper over what had just happened, he figured out things on his own.

"The invocation asks permission from four figures: the Monarch — creator of the Dhaevrak or Crimson Army, the first Mother — creator of the runes, elves, and the heavenly tree, the second Mother — creator of the demons, devils, and the Abysmal Flame, and lastly the Judge, whom I don’t know anything of."

"I have the bloodline of the Monarch, spiritual eyes of the first Mother and the Abysmal Flame of the second Mother... did the invocation not need any offering because of that?" he questioned with a deep frown.

Because the sorcery of teleportation was so powerful, it needed a connection with those four entities who seemed to be beyond the gods and the heavenly tree’s fruit was used to do that because the first Mother had made it however Rion also had things that belonged to them so out of luck or fate he didn’t require any offering as he already had the connection.

Heck, his connection was even stronger than the fruits.

His lips curled upwards, and he mumbled, "That’s great."

But his smile vanished pretty soon as he had another thing to worry about.

"I was able to teleport here because I know of this room. How am I going to teleport to the places I’ve never been to?"

He didn’t know how Malikeya had done it, but he was sure that she or one of the past royal daughters had been to Leonara at some point in their long elven lives.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, he concluded, "I should ask Zaelyane."

Of course, he was going to ask her. What else could he even do? She was the only sorcerer he knew of, and she was also a royal daughter candidate, so it wasn’t like he had better options or any option to be fair.

However, as he got ready to go and ask about it, his gaze fell on the world outside his room.

It was already midnight.

"I’ll ask her tomorrow," Rion whispered as he clenched his fist to keep his joy and walked over to his bed.

Without any care, he slumped into the bed and allowed the fatigue to push him into the embrace of sleep he so desperately wanted.

Though things didn’t quite turn out as he wanted.

"A..."

"Ai..."

"Aio..."

"Aion!"

The voice of a young boy drifted into Rion’s ears, and his eyes shot open.

However, instead of the old wooden ceiling of the inn, his gaze fell on a boundless sky, and before he could make out what was happening, his head twisted to the left by itself.

As his head turned, a young boy around fifteen years old came into view.

The boy was handsome to the point of divinity; his eyes were pure obsidian with white symbols floating in them; his golden hair looked like strands of sunlight; and his kingly attire was more divine than regal.

The world around them was the same, the grass, the trees, the air all felt way more lively than ever.

’What is going on?’ Rion thought in utter confusion. A moment ago, he had fallen asleep, but now he was somewhere else.

Seeing the boy, Rion’s lips parted by themselves, and Aion spoke, "Why are you here, brother Eleos?"

Eleos stepped closer to his younger brother and spoke in an annoyed voice, "I was looking for you." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

At those words, Aion let out a sigh and whispered dejectedly, "I do not want to meet those princes..."

"What?" Eleos’s expression turned furious, and he spat, "Do not be foolish, Aion. They are not just some princes; they are our brothers. Treat them with the respect you show to me."

Aion instantly shot up to his feet and scurried towards his big brother. "You know it, big brother, I did not mean it that way!"

Eleos grabbed his wrist and said, "It does not matter. We are going to meet the princes."

Rion watched the two brothers bicker with interest, and before his stupefied eyes, Eleos teleported both of them.

’How?’ he thought as Aion held his head and whimpered, "I have told you before that I do not like that ability of yours!"

Eleos glanced at him and said, "We are going in."

Hearing those words, Aion froze for a moment and seriously nodded his head as he looked at the grand crimson gate with starlight inflections that made it look celestial.

The gate hummed as it opened, and a soft, melodious voice announced their coming.

"The crown prince Aion and the first prince Eleos have graced us!"

’So the younger one is the crown prince?’ Rion remarked, and Aion walked towards the five princes.

A grand crimson room with golden stars, flowers, and much more, with five shrouded figures sitting by a table set with food, entered his vision.

He lifted his gaze and strode towards the eldest of the princes and said, "I am the crown prince, Aion. It is great to see you, brother."

As he closed the distance, the figure became visible.

The eldest of the five princes had pale jade-like skin and glittery purple eyes; his hair was white, falling down his shoulders like strings; and his attire had a gothic flair.

He had a mark of chains running across his neck and some of his lower face.

"Brother?" the eldest looked between the other princes and smiled. "It is great to see you as well, younger brother."

Aion scratched his chin and asked, "What is your name?"

As his words spread across the room, everyone fell silent.

Sensing the mood, Aion frowned and said, "Did I ask something inappropriate?"

The eldest prince shook his head and stated with a kind smile, "No, you did not."

He leaned forward and whispered, "As for my name, it is — The Remnant."
