Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer - Chapter 458 - 236: Spatial Rift
The sudden space rift began to absorb surrounding objects.
The first to be absorbed were the heaps of soil and stones nearby, cascading into the space rift like water.
Alka and the others, alerted by Julia, had already moved away and reached the top of the pit. Here, they no longer felt the suction from the rift and were temporarily safe.
"Why is there a space rift here?" Chadite asked with a frown. During the previous three days, while mapping the area, they had seen a space rift identical to this one. Julia, who had noticed the anomaly, was evidently able to answer this question.
"The space rift was created because the space we were just in shattered. This caused the Rules to become chaotic and conflict with each other," Julia replied. She frowned slightly as she spoke, a hint of helplessness in her voice. "If the surrounding spatial Rules were complete, such problems wouldn’t occur, but... it’s too chaotic."
"This rift won’t become permanent, will it? Otherwise, we’ll have just added another hazardous area to this place," Simon said somewhat awkwardly, after thinking for a moment. His words brought a silence among the group. After all, they would be leaving the Island later, so a dangerous area forming here wouldn’t affect them. However, the Island’s inhabitants would be the ones to suffer.
Julia gazed calmly ahead with her blue eyes, focusing on the space rift above the ruins. She watched as the surrounding soil was drawn in. Once it was all absorbed, the earth and fragmented stones from the ruins around the rift followed suit. Although the materials of the ruins were durable enough to have lasted for so long, they were useless against the destructive nature of the space rift. The ruins they had just excavated were already being destroyed, the pit becoming deeper.
Looking at the space rift still absorbing nearby materials, Julia suddenly said, "Don’t worry too much. This space rift shouldn’t last long; it’s already becoming unstable." Julia could precisely sense everything that affected the environment and made the surrounding Rules chaotic.
Shortly after she finished speaking, purple lightning and crackling sounds appeared where the space rift was located. The rift, originally a long, crack-like opening, began to sway left and right before being twisted and pulled like rubber.
CRACK!
A loud shattering sound erupted. As the sound faded, the space rift vanished along with it, dissolving into faint purple specks of light before disappearing completely.
Everyone finally exhaled as they watched the space rift completely disappear. The fact that it wasn’t permanent was acceptable.
"It’s safe now," Julia said, closing her eyes and sensing the surrounding environment for a moment.
She looked at the destruction caused by the space rift. Not only had it helped them by absorbing the surrounding soil, but even the ruins they had excavated below were completely destroyed. The ruins, from the point where the space rift had appeared all the way up to the surface, had completely vanished. The bottom of the pit had also deepened as more soil and stone fragments were sucked in, exposing the ruins buried even deeper below.
Alka looked at the deep pit below and the soil still sliding down its sides after the space rift had disappeared. He was sure he hadn’t been mistaken; beneath the sliding soil were several objects outlined with white borders. Obviously, these were Ordinary Treasures, indicated by their white glow. Such Ordinary Treasures were abundant on the map, almost densely covering it, with white dots often overlapping the blue points.
When Alka had realized the entire ruin was buried underground, he had stopped focusing on those white dots. Who knew how deep they were buried? Spending so much effort and time for items of uncertain value, indicated by white dots, was evidently not worthwhile.
But now that a pit has formed, there’s no harm in taking them, Alka thought, and promptly jumped down from the top of the pit. The rest followed him and jumped down as well.
"Many of the ruins were destroyed, but deeper sections have been exposed," Lucilia said, examining the site. She then inspected the newly exposed sections more closely.
"Found anything?" Chadite asked, standing beside Alka and watching him gently dig at the bottom of the pit.
Alka nodded. "I saw some things down here just now. No idea what they are, but let’s dig them up and see."
Watching Alka’s actions, the others came to help with the digging. The powerful suction from the earlier spatial disturbance had made the soil exceptionally loose, making excavation easy. As they dug, clumps of earth-caked objects were thrown out. Although these looked much like ordinary clumps of soil, in Alka’s eyes, they were all encased in white borders. Everyone roughly understood what Alka was looking for and threw everything they excavated into a pile.
Alka looked at the pile of dirt-covered objects. Though more than half didn’t have a white border, some clearly did, indicating they were the items he sought.
"Alright, that should be enough. There’s nothing else of value here," Alka said, glancing at the map in his hand.
