Thinking of the Thorne family’s tragic fate in the book, Tang Xiaonan felt anger well up inside her. For now, she could at least be certain that Phoenix Golding was inextricably linked to the deaths of Lana Steiner and Frederick Thorne. As for the elderly couple, Byron Thorne and Raina, Phoenix hadn’t killed them directly. But they had passed away early from overwhelming grief and exhaustion after Frederick and his wife met their ends one after the other.

Seething with rage, Tang Xiaonan leaped from the cart and did a quick roll on the ground. Felix Thorne jumped, startled. Before he could even react, Tang Xiaonan was back on her feet, charging at Phoenix Golding like a little cannonball.

She threw all her weight into it, ramming right into Phoenix Golding. The impact made her own head spin, but it sent Phoenix tumbling to the ground. She landed flat on her back, her face twisting in pain.

Tang Xiaonan rubbed her woozy head, then seamlessly scrambled on top of Phoenix Golding. She tore, bit, pulled, scratched, and kicked—unleashing every attack she could think of. Tang Xiaonan’s only regret was that her fingernails were trimmed so short; otherwise, she would have clawed that damn bitch’s face to ribbons.

Phoenix Golding felt like her back was going to snap. The little brat was surprisingly heavy, and she couldn’t buck her off. When she saw Felix Thorne and Phoebe Huxley just standing there watching the show, she was flooded with rage, shame, and hatred, and began to shriek curses.

Felix Thorne’s swarthy face flushed, and he looked a little sheepish. Phoebe Huxley, for her part, was both proud and bashful. ’Am I really as wonderful as my daughter says?’

Still, being praised by her daughter in front of so many people made Phoebe’s heart swell with a sweetness like honey. ’The best thing I ever did in my life,’ she thought, ’was giving birth to my precious little girl. Phoenix Golding lay there weakly, feeling as if her back were about to give out. Tang Xiaonan wasn’t particularly strong, but she was astonishingly heavy. Just having the girl straddling her was an unbearable burden. But then, Tang Xiaonan employed her ultimate finishing move: the Crushing Weight of Mount Tai.

The crowd watched as Tang Xiaonan climbed off of Phoenix Golding. They assumed the little girl was tired. Phoenix Golding thought so too and let out a sigh of relief. But then Tang Xiaonan took a deep breath and shook out her arms. The onlookers were baffled. What was she doing?

"I’ll crush you, you evil woman!"

Tang Xiaonan leaped a foot into the air and came crashing down onto Phoenix Golding. With the combined force of acceleration and gravity, Phoenix Golding’s eyes rolled back in her head, and she passed out cold.
