Never mind Juhua and Liu Xiaomei, who were busy at home making sausages and cured meats, or Li Changyu, who had given up the scholar’s path for business, quietly opening a small window from Qingnan Village to the world. For now, the story shifts a thousand miles away to the northern province of Yunzhou, where matters concerning Juhua’s destiny were unfolding.

After leaving Qingnan Village, Qin Feng found himself in the depths of winter. Seeking a warmer climate, he had made his way south toward the Southern Border.

He toured the region, stopping for a few days in any village he came across. He spent his time practicing medicine, gathering herbs, and simply exploring, eventually making his way west before circling back north.

By the fifth month of the following year, finding himself gradually nearing Yunzhou, he headed straight for Cloud Mist Mountain to visit his master and junior sister.

One day, at the foot of Cloud Mist Mountain, he used the method of artificial respiration that Juhua had taught him to save a drowning boy. The boy turned out to be the young master of Yunzhou’s immensely wealthy Jiang Family.

This Old Mr. Jiang was the brother-in-law of Yunzhou’s governor. As the weather was fine, he had brought his family to the foot of Cloud Mist Mountain to enjoy the spring scenery. But unexpectedly, his youngest son fell into the water. By the time he was pulled out, he had stopped breathing. Overcome with grief and rage, Old Mr. Jiang was about to beat the attending servants to death when he was stopped by Qin Feng, who happened to be passing by. After performing a series of strange movements, Qin Feng managed to bring the seemingly dead boy back to life.

His despair and rage instantly turned into overwhelming joy, and he was completely at a loss. He grasped Qin Feng’s hands, thanking him incoherently.

Qin Feng, having brought a person back from the brink of death using the air-breathing technique, was in high spirits himself. He smiled and said, "Old Mr. Jiang, there is no need for such thanks. I am a physician. Saving your son today was a matter of coincidence, but it is also my duty."

Old Mr. Jiang didn’t care about a physician’s duty. All he knew was that this man had wrestled his son’s life back from King Yama. His gratitude was beyond words, and he insisted on taking Qin Feng to the Jiang Mansion in Yunzhou City to thank him lavishly.

Unable to fend off his persistence, Qin Feng explained that he had to visit his master on Cloud Mist Mountain that day. He promised he would visit the mansion when he came to Yunzhou City in the future.

Old Mr. Jiang’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Is your master Master Yun?" he asked. "If he is, then you don’t need to go to Cloud Mist Mountain. The old master himself is living right here in Yunzhou City right now."

Qin Feng was greatly surprised. ’Master came down from the mountain to live in the city?’

He nodded. "My master is indeed Master Yun. When did he come to Yunzhou City?"

Old Mr. Jiang chuckled. "It’s a good thing you ran into me, or you’d have gone all the way up the mountain and not found him. For some reason, Master Yun came down with his daughter a few months ago and settled in the city. Oh, the people of Yunzhou City were overjoyed—having the divine doctor living here is so much more convenient! I invited him for a meal just yesterday, but he’s a man who values his tranquility and couldn’t be bothered to come. I didn’t dare disturb him again."

Seeing him go on and on, Qin Feng quickly interrupted, "In that case, might I trouble you to take me to my master, Old Mr. Jiang? I haven’t seen him in a long time and I miss him dearly."

Old Mr. Jiang hastily called for his men to prepare a carriage. Forgetting all about their outing, he decided to return to the city at once, and in the meantime, he introduced his family members to Qin Feng.

Qin Feng saw a bevy of women, young and old, all dressed in gorgeous silks and adorned with pearls and jade. Their hairpins and jewelry swayed as they moved, filling the air with a fragrant scent. Mindful of propriety, he merely offered a polite nod without looking too closely, and thus couldn’t distinguish one from another.

When Old Mr. Jiang told his wife and daughters that this was Master Yun’s disciple, it drew a collective gasp of admiration. They all remarked that, indeed, a great master produces a brilliant student.

A little girl of seven or eight, blinking her big eyes, said to Qin Feng, "Yun Ying was just at my house playing yesterday!"

Qin Feng was startled for a moment, then realized she was talking about his junior sister. He smiled. "Is that so?"

The little girl nodded. "Of course! She and my big sister have a great time together."

Old Mr. Jiang cut her off. "Mingyi, that’s enough. Young Master Qin is anxious to see his master. Young Master Qin, let’s get into the carriage. You look weary from your travels, so don’t bother with your horse."

Qin Feng nodded and joined Old Mr. Jiang in the carriage. They chatted casually as they traveled, and with a swift horse pulling the light carriage, they entered the city in what felt like the blink of an eye.

Old Mr. Jiang escorted him to Master Yun’s Jishi Hall. After repeatedly insisting that Qin Feng must attend a banquet at the Jiang Mansion that evening, he finally took his leave, not wanting to intrude on the reunion between master and disciple.

Seeing his white-haired master and his junior sister, who was as lovely as a flower, Qin Feng was filled with joy and excitement. They exchanged greetings and caught up on everything that had happened since they parted. Before they knew it, evening had fallen, and Old Mr. Jiang arrived in person to escort them.

Master Yun had not yet heard about Qin Feng’s rescue. Upon hearing Old Mr. Jiang’s account, his eyes immediately lit up with interest, and he grabbed his disciple to ask for a detailed explanation.
