"She said she wanted to take a walk alone." Six scratched his head. The task Mason Nightshade assigned him was incomplete, but given her expression at the time... he didn't dare follow her.

Plus, more importantly, he couldn't beat her.

Six felt embarrassed even just saying this out loud.

"You let her go alone?!" Mason Nightshade immediately sensed something was wrong. "What happened exactly? What did Balthazar Shaw do this time?"

Six thought to himself that Mason sure knew that family well, so he recounted everything that had happened to him.

Mason cursed under his breath, "He's got a death wish! I didn't spare him for this, disrupting my woman's peace! Damn it!"

It was already deep winter, and the weather was a bit chilly, especially up in the mountains.

Aurelia Shaw lay on the hard stone, looking at the gloomy night sky. After all, no one could see her at this moment, and she had carelessly tossed her high heels aside. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

What felt like a long time passed when footsteps approached.

A towering shadow surrounded her, and she blinked to see a familiar, distinct face staring down at her, angrily. "Why was your phone off when I called you?!"

Was her phone off?

She took out her phone and saw it was out of battery.

Mason Nightshade glanced at her cold, reddened feet, gritted his teeth in frustration, crouched down, and wrapped her feet in his clothes, growling, "Do you not want these feet anymore?!"

"Of course, I do. Isn't that why you're here?" Aurelia Shaw smiled, feeling secure, "Were you worried about me?"

"Don't turn off your phone again," Mason exhaled.

If he couldn't find her, he'd be really worried.

Aurelia paused, "I remember once, when the crew had a gathering and I returned to the hotel late, you were waiting in my room. Did you look for me for a long time that time too?"

Mason gave her a sidelong glance, not answering directly, "Looks like I really should teach Balthazar Shaw a lesson. Being upset over such an irresponsible father and hurting yourself just isn't worth it, you hear me?"

His tone was somewhat like scolding a child.

Come to think of it, she was indeed several years younger than him.

"How did you know I was here?" she asked, forgetting her previous question.

Sometimes her memory was really bad.

"You brought me here last time," Mason replied casually.

Aurelia was stunned, suddenly remembering the last time they almost crossed the line here... Her face instantly flushed, and she quickly retracted her feet!

Mason pressed her feet back down, gritting his teeth, "Don't move. Warm up for a bit longer."

"It's not warm. Let's go back; the ground is cold."

Aurelia pulled back her feet.

Mason put her shoes back on, "You know the ground is cold, right? If I hadn't come, were you planning to lie here all night?"

"Do you really think I'm that dumb?" Aurelia chuckled, her casual smile making one's heart itch.

Mason gave her a sidelong glance, picked her up, and said calmly, "Yes."

Aurelia bit him.

"Naughty," Mason threatened her fiercely.

Aurelia wasn't afraid of this paper tiger's threats. She slipped her hand inside his coat and said with a grin, "Oh, really? I don't believe you."

What's the next line if she doesn't believe? According to romance novel clichés, it's definitely the man who says, "If you don't believe me, just try," and then takes immediate action, thoroughly claiming his lover.

But Mason, looking upset, said in a hoarse, wronged voice, "I feel terrible."

Here we go again.

The wolf was pretending to be pitiful again.
