Too Bad I Take Things Seriously
Chapter 667 - 249 Qin Mu: Can’t I get a break from work? _4
"Old Zhang? Hasn’t Old Qi’s issue been resolved?" Qin Mu lifted his head and asked with raised eyebrows.
Not long ago, he had just told Zhang Qingyuan how to handle Old Qi being hit. The first step was to notify the traffic police to issue a liability assessment report, and then deal with the follow-up slowly.
"It’s not about Old Qi; it’s about me." Zhang Qingyuan sat down, sighed, and recounted what had just happened, his face full of grievance. "I had just gone to see Old Qi when a dog suddenly chased and tried to bite me. I didn’t think much of it at the time, so I just picked up my walking stick and hit the dog on the head a few times. I ended up killing it. Now, the dog’s owner keeps pestering me, demanding I pay up. She even claims their dog is some foreign mixed breed and wants at least fifty thousand in compensation! Isn’t this extortion?"
Upon hearing this, Qin Mu felt his scalp tingle but still couldn’t help asking, "Isn’t Old Qi in the dormitory? You’ve always been in the nursing home; where did the dog come from?"
In his memory, the nursing home didn’t keep dogs. They were worried some of the elderly might be allergic to dogs or frightened by them.
"It’s not from our home. If it were, it would be easier to handle; who wouldn’t show some respect to me, the Chess King?" Zhang Qingyuan sighed and said with a wry smile. "It seems to be a visitor’s dog. She brought her father to our home to observe, apparently considering sending him here."
The other party was very difficult. After he killed the dog, she grabbed onto him and wouldn’t let him go, looking like she wanted to fight him to the death.
"She... didn’t she use a leash?" Qin Mu frowned and continued to ask.
Generally speaking, when bringing pets into a nursing home, they are supposed to be on a leash. If the dog had been on a leash, it wouldn’t have run around, much less chased Old Zhang. If it hadn’t chased Old Zhang, Old Zhang wouldn’t have picked up his walking stick and smashed it at the dog.
"No leash," Zhang Qingyuan shook his head, somewhat indignant. "She said her dog always behaves, that it was only coming to play with me this time, and that I was the one who overreacted and deliberately killed her dog. But that dog was taller than a person when it stood up! It kept running towards me. How was I supposed to know if it was going to bite me or not? I could only hit it with my walking stick."
Luckily, he had grown up in the countryside. He had seen all kinds of vicious dogs and knew how to strike a fatal blow. Despite his age and diminished vigor, he still managed to knock the dog to the ground with just a couple of blows from his walking stick, killing it on the spot.
"Xiao Qin, you tell me... how much money should I really pay her?" Zhang Qingyuan swallowed, asking cautiously.
Fifty thousand was definitely unrealistic; he wasn’t a sucker. But that dog... it was said to be very expensive, a high-quality breed from overseas.
"Pay money? Why should you pay?" After Qin Mu understood the whole story, he let out a cold snort.
"Not pay?" Zhang Qingyuan was taken aback and couldn’t help but say, "That woman is still at our nursing home. The vice director has been communicating with her and asked me to come to you for a solution."
Qin Mu was now the legal advisor. All legal affairs in the nursing home, big or small, were his responsibility. Moreover, he was the one in their facility with the deepest understanding of the law.
"Of course not." Qin Mu put down his phone and stood up. He nodded and said, "She took her dog out without a leash, allowing it to run wild and scare people, and she still has the nerve to demand compensation?"
"Let’s go and check out the situation." Saying this, he followed Zhang Qingyuan out of the office.
Walking dogs without a leash... is actually quite common. The most frequent occurrences are within residential areas. Many people not only walk their dogs without a leash but also fail to clean up their pet’s droppings. Dog feces can often be seen in various parts of these communities. Especially in the evenings, when many people are out for a stroll, you often see large, fierce-looking dogs running wild. When confronted, these dog owners often claim their dogs are very perceptive and docile, and they guarantee their dogs absolutely won’t bite.
