Olivia gently patted Avelvion’s back, who looked like he was about to cry. She wanted to hug him, but she knew her position as a maid.

"I’m sorry, I’m sorry" said Olivia while her eyes streamed with tears very heavily. Avelvion went quiet then looked at Olivia who was sobbing.

"Hey... hey..... I’m okay" said Avelvion while looking at Olivia whose crying was getting louder.

Avelvion furrowed his brow. And exhaled heavily.

"If other people saw this, they would think you were the victim here" said Avelvion while shaking his head looking at Olivia. Then Olivia wiped her tears and her snot that she almost swallowed.

"For.....real..?" asked Olivia quietly while looking toward the tightly closed library door.

"Yes yes.." he said with a slightly disappointed tone. His eyes blinked a few times. Then looked at the book held by Olivia.

"I’m already used to things like this happening..."

"My parents, my siblings and everyone around me" he said with a bitter smile. Olivia just went stiff and quiet listening to Avelvion’s heart pouring out.

"The only one who was always by my side was my late grandmother. She was very kind and always became the person I always went to when things got bad" he said.

"But she passed away because of her old age, however I know.....

"She didn’t die from old age but because someone had poisoned her."

He continued, his lips pressed slowly looking at the floor. His voice trembled when mentioning the poison, showing just how deep the grudge he kept was. Olivia lifted her hand then gently patted his shoulder.

"Actually, not everyone in this world was like them..."

"In this world, even if you feel like you a invensible, not loved,.... at least you have one person who is always together with you" Olivia intoned while smiling.

Just like how Javien appeared in my life when I felt the world was cruel and full of betrayal.....

Until I wanted to think whether I deserved to live in this cruel world?

She said in her mind, throwback to the memories that were very painful and hard to forget, when she was in her original world.

"It’s okay Avelvion, I’m sure you’ll definitely find someone who becomes a light for you..... who becomes one of the reasons you need to live in this world...."

Said Olivia while nodding slowly.

"At least one....."

Said Avelvion while stunned hearing the words that came out of Olivia’s mouth.

"What if I become one of your friends?" said Olivia while winking one eye. Avelvion looked up then stared at Olivia sharply. Then,

Puffff.

Avelvion covered his mouth while holding his stomach that was about to burst. Olivia furrowed her brow. Confused.

"What’s funny about what I said?" said Olivia. Olivia’s face looked annoyed watching the boy in front of her.

"Olivia, I think, that’s enough for today..." he said quietly while shaking his head to get rid of his urge to laugh.

Then he stretched out his palm indicating he wanted to ask for the pungent smelling book. Olivia pouted and immediately stood up quickly and placed that book on Avelvion’s open palm.

"I think we should put this book back to its original place" he said then moved from his seat.

"But....but..." Olivia hesitated. Her hand seemed to want to pull that book but she was pushed away by Avelvion who was smiling flatly. Olivia snapped and jutted her lips forward.

"But, you haven’t told me everything about what’s inside that book" she said while stomping one foot. As if she had forgotten that she was actually already 24 years old.

Avelvion glanced toward Olivia and messed up her hair. looked messy.

Hick!

He went quiet then turned his face away.

"Fine! Give back that book then" he said with a slightly disappointed feeling.

TSK! This anoying prince!

Said Olivia in her heart, then looked toward Avelvion who was staring at her tiredly.

"Fine! I will translate it. But, in exchange you owe me one request..." he said while grinning mischievously. Olivia rolled her eyes then exhaled heavily.

"Haih!" said Olivia while furrowing her brow.

What request he wanted now!!

She said in her heart.

Anything is fine just don’t let him do something to Javien already!!

she continued in her heart. Her mind felt tense.

"Fine! What is the request, Your Highness, Prince Avelvion?" she said in an uninterested and lazy tone. She crossed both her hands while taking a seat on the chair beside her. Avelvion was delighted.

"Hmm for that I haven’t thought of it yet" he said casually while flipping through that book page by page.

This kid!!

Olivia whispered while clenching her fingers tightly. Avelvion looked very small in front of her. As if the heat inside her chest wanted to explode. Then she exhaled it slowly.

"Haaaaa.... kids!"

She said quietly then took back her smile, stood up and walked leaving Avelvion who was left dumbfounded behind watching Olivia’s unexpected action.

"Hey!! Wait for mee!!" he said while calling out to Olivia who was far ahead of him. Olivia with a happy grin, moved quickly.

But she managed to look back toward the room they were about to leave. As if they had left a "Big Secret" in that room together with Duke Herold.

Then she turned her head. Then they walked out of that room and went back to their respective rooms after Olivia took the book that was given by Avelvion before. Before they parted ways.

"Hey kids!! Thank you for today" said Olivia while bowing respectfully toward Avelvion.

"You’re welcome and..." he said but stopped for a moment. Olivia tilted her head.

"Thank you too... you... have truly become my friend" he said then smiled.

Olivia’s eyes were slightly surprised. She had never seen Avelvion smile happily before. She was touched then nodded. Then they went off to their rooms.

As soon as Olivia reached her room.

"I need to see Javien tomorrow..."

"After reading this book!" she said while reading the contents of that book one by one.

Olivia flipped through page after page of the book given by Avelvion carefully.

Suddenly, her finger stopped on a drawing that she recognised very well, the same symbol that was on the old chain worn by Javien in the basement.

"If what this book says is true... Javien is not just an ordinary abandoned child" Olivia whispered with her heart beating fast.

She immediately closed that book. Her eyes looked directly toward her room wall, as if able to see through toward the basement. After she made sure there was nothing strange around her she opened that thick book again.

Flipping slowly while giving 100% focus. Her eyes sharply read every word written on that paper.

Olivia’s eyes narrowed reading the row of sentences on the last page.

"Eh? Why does this history book say something different? The original novel’s author never even mentioned this incident!"

Olivia began to realise something terrifying. The world she was living in right now was no longer 100% like the novel she had read before. There was a "butterfly effect" happening, and Javien was the main victim of it.

"If you think about it, the way Javien died was very strange.... That author only said that Javien killed himself right in front of his room door" Olivia whispered quietly.

"But, that author kind of gave a small plot twist about Javien’s death?" She furrowed her soft forehead skin.

"The details she gave were different from what was described in Chapter 50 and 54?.... smart to change things up" Olivia leaned her back against the chair. She looked at her room ceiling that was slightly dark. Her desk lamp light couldn’t reach the ceiling that shone brightly in the afternoon.

Her small room was only lit by a candle lamp that was getting shorter on the rough wooden table in front of her.

Its light danced blown by the night wind that slipped in through the window gap, creating long shadows that seemed to watch her every move.

Only the candle lamp light that Olivia lit to avoid disturbing the people around her with her room still bright.

She slowly covered her face. The hands she used to cover her face felt cold.

"If Javien dies in his own room according to the original novel, but this history book says they won’t die unless someone with a power stronger than theirs... that means there’s a ’killer’ 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"....a killer I haven’t met yet." she said. No idea what was happening. As if it was strange.

She exhaled slowly. Her eyes closed slowly. Her head rested. Now, her room was suddenly quiet for a moment.

All sounds from outside and inside her room could be heard clearly. Then something crossed her mind. She opened her eyes and wrote something.

"Strange! Today I didn’t see any threads like I usually see" she said quietly.

"I should be happy... but why do I feel uneasy today when I don’t see that thread?"

she said. All the puzzles were playing in her mind. She was confused. Her eyes looked toward her empty wrist.

Usually her skin felt burning and itchy every time that thread appeared, but now... her hand felt cold and empty. A frightening silence..

"Usually, if I think back.....that thread appears when I see something drastic....suspicious" then she startled.

"Could it be that it appears according to my body’s situation?" Olivia mumbled. The pen in her hand was poked repeatedly on the rough yellow paper in front of her.

"The moment Duke Herold came...nothing" she said. Even though her eyelids felt heavy, Olivia didn’t dare to truly be carried away in dreams. Every time she closed her eyes, the image of Javien stiff in front of his room door as told in Chapter 50 of the original novel kept haunting her mind.

"Can’t.... I can’t wait too long" she whispered to herself. Then, noted down everything strange on that paper.

[Thread -> Javien -> dream -> library -> Duke Herold -> pungent book]

Can

She wrote it down. Then her eyes that were growing heavier as if wanting to close, she opened wide.

"I think for now that’s enough" she said quietly.

She closed the book she had been writing in. Then opened her desk drawer and put it inside. Then quickly Olivia stood up and walked toward her bed.

"...I have to meet Javien. I need to make sure he’s still the ’Javien’ I know, not the monster this book talks about."

She threw herself onto that bed. Suddenly, the sound of night crickets and the sound of wind hitting her room window seemed to fade away. Slowly disappearing.

Olivia finally fell asleep with the worry that still remained. But behind her tightly closed room window, a thin thread the colour of blood slowly appeared in the air, quietly wrapping around her stiff hand, without her realising it.
