The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter
Chapter 15: Viscount’s Party
The girl was extremely pretty, with a small nose and a milky white complexion that almost every single female lead in novels had. She was no different, with a face card so strong that it could make people put their lives on the line for her.
She took a look at the three papers that her father slid towards her and frowned, "I understand the reason why you picked these two, but why a recently divorced man? There are also rumors going on about how he’s a cheating scumbag."
"Felicia, at this point you must have learned how truth can be hidden and masked with lies." the viscount said as he leaned back in his chair, "The one who cheated wasn’t him, but his wife. She drugged him every night and went to her lover. She’s a woman who is thirsty for power and married Baron Adrian back when his father was still alive."
He tapped the table with his finger while revealing a slightly playful smile.
"But the moment the Duke died and Anderson took over, he stopped sending any sort of help to Adrian. No money, no gifts, no soldiers, nothing. Vaneira realised that he wasn’t going to be of much use since he was just a first circle mage and cursed with not being able to lift weapons. So, she decided to toss him out of her life and seduced a talented third circle mage instead."
Felicia nodded, her face showing signs of pity.
"But he has a child and I don’t know if I’ll be able to accept someone else’s child as my own."
"His barony has a dungeon that coughs up iron and steel ingots with the people not having to worry about any danger. His barony is a gold mine and if my estimates are right, he’ll become the richest in the eastern region in two decades if he plays his cards right. Also, his child is a daughter. If you give him a son, there’s nothing to be worried about. Take your time, meet all these men and then decide. All three of them will make fine sons-in-law."
Felicia let out a sigh and nodded, "I understand, father."
Carriages with intricate carvings stood outside the Viscount’s property.
Adrian walked out of his plain looking rental carriage and paid the man a silver coin before he walked in with Aria right behind him.
He wore a pure white suit with gold engravings, a color combination that he loved and suited him well ever since he was young. Aria on the other hand, had picked out her dress herself.
She wore a dark red satin dress that turned bright red at different spots every time she moved.
It had cost a lot but Adrian had already made up his mind to spoil his little angel. If she wanted something, then she would get it.
The two of them walked in and weren’t surprised to see multiple other people chattering about in the plain garden in front of the mansion.
The Viscount and his wife stood near the entrance and the moment Adrian walked in, they greeted him.
"Oh the great blessed baron of the eastern lands has decided to grace us with his presence." The viscount joked as he went in for a polite hug.
Usually, the husband would greet the males and the wife would greet the females but right now, the viscount’s wife just stood there with a bright smile as Adrian didn’t really bring a woman with him.
She looked at Aria who looked up at her too, and the only thing she could think of was her daughter when she was of Aria’s age.
’Maybe I can convince Alex for another child... both the kids are adults now and I miss how cute and innocent they were. Hmm, right... I’ll just get them to give me grandchildren instead.’
While their fates were being sealed, Felicia walked over and the first thing she did, was smile at Aria and crouched down to pinch her cheeks.
Aria instinctively slapped her hand away before she tugged on Adrian’s pants.
Adrian looked down at the girl and then at Felicia before he let out an awkward chuckle as he picked her up.
"I’m sorry, she’s not good with strangers."
Felicia got to her feet and nodded, "No worries. She’s very adorable and it looks like she takes after you." she said as she gave him a breathtaking smile.
Adrian stood there in silence for just a second but this reaction did not go unnoticed by the girl in his arms.
She turned her head and glared at Felicia, making her smile falter.
Viscount Alexander seemed to notice the hidden exchange and patted Adrian on his shoulder, "Right, let’s not get you stuck here with us old people. Why don’t you go with Felicia and socialize with the others?"
Adrian looked at the crowd and immediately wanted to head back home but he wasn’t the same Adrian as he was on earth. He was a baron now, and he had to do certain things no matter how much he disliked them.
"Yes, thanks a lot." he said and turned to Felicia, "Please lead the way, my lady."
Felicia walked to the other guests and glanced at the other two men that her father had asked her to observe.
In terms of just their appearance, Adrian trumped every single one of them at the event.
But Felicia wasn’t searching for mere looks alone. As the daughter of a viscount, she had to keep power and wealth in mind too.
When it came to power, Sir Leon was the best candidate. He was the son of a high rank adventurer and a really strong knight himself. Bastian Kaldwin, the son of a neighboring Baron was the one who currently held the most amount of wealth among all.
Adrian on the other hand, was picked for his potential. He could be the riches in a few years and when it came to strength, even though he couldn’t wield weapons, he was still a mage.
