Chapter 2016: Chapter 2013: Farewell Conversation

Judging from the time, Ling Feng had already stayed in the Ancient Ruins for nearly a year, and too many things had happened during this year.

Just as Ling Feng was preparing to integrate the power of the Ximen Family and the Storm Sect, the Witch came to find him.

"Aunt, are you really leaving?" Ling Feng looked at the Witch and asked.

The Witch smiled and said, "By the time calculation, it’s about time to leave. But I really didn’t expect you to make such a big name for yourself in the Ancient Ruins."

Ling Feng gave a bitter smile. "It was just the situation forcing my hand. By the way, Aunt, do you need any Star Core Power? I can actually provide some!"

As the Sect Master of the White Star Organization, Ling Feng could now produce quite a bit of Star Core Power, though it all came from those broken Plane planets, with somewhat flawed quality.

"No need!" The Witch shook her head and said, "Star Core Power is precious, but I’ve gotten quite a lot over this past year as well. When I need it, I’ll naturally ask you for it. Sect Master Ling, are you telling me you wouldn’t give it to me then?"

Ling Feng laughed. "Of course I would. We’re family after all!"

"Yeah, family!" A trace of wistfulness surfaced on the Witch’s face. "I wonder where Yunxuan that girl is now, and how she’s doing!"

Ling Feng’s expression also dimmed. It wasn’t that he hadn’t thought about going to look for Yunxuan and Guli Jia before, but he had absolutely no idea where to even start. On top of that, Ling Feng now had more important things to deal with, so all he could do was silently say sorry to the two women in his heart.

"Aunt, once things here are settled, I’ll personally go look for Yunxuan!" Ling Feng took a deep breath and promised, "No matter where Yunxuan is hiding, I’ll find her!"

The Witch nodded. "Yunxuan is your wife. I believe you’re not the kind of man who starts something and then abandons it. I also believe you’ll handle the relationship between the Abyss Realm and Earth properly. Ling Feng, to be frank, although the Demon King and I represent the interests of the Abyss Realm, we don’t want to achieve everything by damaging Earth’s interests!"

"In my Brother King’s heart, he should have a very grand plan, but to implement this plan, he needs a powerful Earth as his backing!" The Witch said seriously, counting off her points. "And the key to all of this... lies with you!"

"Me?" Ling Feng was stunned.

"That’s right!" The Witch said in a deep voice. "The seal on Earth will soon be lifted. Once the seal completely dissipates, creatures from other Planes will definitely try to seize Earth, this newborn body. With Earth’s current strength, there’s no way it can resist. So helping Earth survive this most difficult period can only fall to you, and the power in your hands!"

"Only when Earth grows to a certain level can our Abyss Realm and Earth truly achieve a win–win. If Earth’s strength is insufficient, then when there’s no other choice, we can only sacrifice Earth. I think you understand this logic."

Though the Witch’s words were very straightforward, even cruel, she did not hide anything from Ling Feng or sugarcoat it.

Ling Feng was also very clear that as Immortal Realm powerhouses and Plane Guardians, they might value emotions, but what lay as the top priority in their hearts was still the survival of their entire world.

Even if he was Yunxuan’s husband, the Demon King’s son-in-law, when it came time to make a choice, they would still choose the world they were sworn to protect.

"I won’t let that day come!" Ling Feng said solemnly.

This world was cruel; a lion could never truly be friends with a rabbit. If he wanted to be friends with the lion, at the very least he needed the strength of a wolf.

"Oh right, I forgot to ask, where are Nameless and the others?" Ling Feng asked, "I haven’t seen any sign of the others this whole year. Did something happen to them?"

The Witch smiled. "Relax, they’re fine. I just arranged some special tasks for them. Over this past year, they... should have been doing pretty well."

Ling Feng didn’t understand what that smile at the corner of the Witch’s mouth meant, but since they were fine, he was relieved. No matter what, Nameless was one of the young experts Ling Feng appreciated more. Of course, now Nameless and Ling Feng were no longer on the same level of power.

"When are you planning to leave?" The Witch looked at Ling Feng and said, "Are you really going to fight the Mad Doctor in the Ancient Ruins?"

Ling Feng took a deep breath and said, "There’s no way I’m letting him off. What’s more, if his strength gets a huge boost here in the Ancient Ruins, he won’t let me go either, or let Earth go! So right now I can’t leave this place."

The Witch sighed. She knew all about the grudges between Ling Feng and the Mad Doctor, so although she knew very well that fighting the Mad Doctor now in the Ancient Ruins wasn’t a wise move, she still couldn’t persuade Ling Feng otherwise.

"Ling Feng, do you have any way to deal with the Mad Doctor?" the Witch asked.

Ling Feng shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "I’m troubled by it myself. I don’t know how to respond to the Mad Doctor. After all, he’s the Artifact Spirit of a Chaos Supreme Treasure, and destroying the Tooth of Greed is practically impossible!"

The Witch nodded and said, "That’s right. As a top-tier Chaos Supreme Treasure, the Tooth of Greed is practically invincible! But there’s something I want to tell you that might be of some help to you."

Ling Feng looked at the Witch, and she continued, "Although a Chaos Supreme Treasure is extremely powerful, there’s no such thing as something truly invincible in this world, even if it’s a Chaos Supreme Treasure! I don’t know exactly how to deal with a Chaos Supreme Treasure, but I have this feeling that if I go all out, I can inflict irreparable damage on a Chaos Supreme Treasure, maybe even perish together with it!"

Ling Feng froze. "Aunt, you mean an Immortal Realm powerhouse can actually injure a Chaos Supreme Treasure?"

The Witch nodded. "Yes, that’s what I mean. After all, Immortal Realm experts are the Guardians of the Plane Worlds, and we also carry Origin Power and Chaotic Power within us. I think it might be that Chaotic Power can harm a Chaos Supreme Treasure!"

Ling Feng seemed to understand something. "What can hurt a Chaos Supreme Treasure should be power of the same kind—Chaotic Power. So that means only after I reach the Immortal Realm can I truly deal with the Mad Doctor?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"According to my understanding, that’s indeed the case!" the Witch said. "It’s just that reaching the Immortal Realm is incredibly difficult. That’s not something you can achieve just by hard work!"

Ling Feng smiled and said nothing, but calculations were already forming in his heart.

After talking with the Witch, Ling Feng felt he had benefited a lot, and in his heart he already had a faint idea of how to handle the Mad Doctor.

After seeing the Witch off, Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master arrived together.

"I think they should have arrived by now as well!" Ling Feng thought to himself.
