The Stranger Behind My Orgasm
Chapter 139: A FRIEND IN DEED
Abigail
"NYPD! Put the pipe down! Put it down now!"
A bright light hit us suddenly, slightly blinding. There were two beams, swinging from the end of the alley.
The pressure of Gavin’s hand on my windpipe intensified, a malicious anger in his dark eyes.
"Let the lady go, sir. Now!"
With a curse, he shoved away from me. I dropped to my knees gasping for breath.Air flooded back in my throat, burning while my hands gripped the floor, trying to steady my blurry vision.
"On the ground! Hands where I can see them!" The cops ordered.
It took them long enough. I was so sure I would have been beaten to pulp by the time they arrived. The pipe dropped from Gavin’s hand with a clatter, hands raising up in the air.
"Ma’am." A hand fell on my shoulder and a woman’s voice reached my ears. "Ma’am, are you hurt?"
"I’m..." My voice came out thick and scratchy, I cleared my throat awkwardly. "I’m okay."
I was not entirely okay but nothing was broken and I could breathe now that I saw Gavin was on the ground with his hands being pulled behind his back by two cops.
"He’s been stalking my friend," I rushed out quickly, still on my knees. "My roommate. He followed us to our apartment building today, he got past our doorman somehow, he’s been watching her for days, his name is Gavin..." I stopped, and realized I didn’t know his last name.
"He works for someone, I think, I think he killed a detective named Raymond Cole, there was a phone, there’s a hacker in that basement with the phone right now and if they destroy it the evidence is gone-"
"Ma’am." The officer crouched in front of me, her eyes holding mine calmly. "I need you to breathe for me first. Then we’ll go through all of it. Okay?"
Oh I could do that. I could breathe.
The murderer cussed at me as he was hauled up to his feet.
"You have no idea what you’ve stepped into, bitch. This doesn’t end here-"
"Sir." The male officer’s hand pressed firmly on his shoulder. "That’s enough."
Gavin got put in the back of the patrol car, the door closed and I dropped on my ass, leaning against the car the bastard had pinned me against.
That was a fucking gamble but it worked!
The female cop dropped a blanket around me and helped me up. "We’ll need you to come to the station with us ma’am, so we can get your statement."
"Of course," I nodded weakly, suddenly feeling drained. God, that was crazy as hell. What if the police had been just a few minutes late?
The bastard better be locked up permanently. As for the phone and the information on it I would find a way to get it later. As long as Gavin remained locked up, Annette wouldn’t have to live every day in terror.
We arrived at the police station ten minutes later. I was ushered into a bull pen where several cops were seated behind their desk working. The female officer handed me a cup of tea before settings crossed from me with a notepad, asking questions.
After some thirty minutes of questioning and having a medic check if I was bruised anywhere, I was free to go.
I sat in the lobby, feeling terribly tired when I dialed Annette’s number. She picked up before the first ring even finished ringing. "Abigail Kellerman, where in the absolute hell are you?!"
"It’s over, Annie." I whispered, leaning back against the chair. Damn, the adrenaline was all gone and I felt like some dried up squid.
"You don’t have to live in fear anymore. He’s in custody."
"What...Why are you talking about it?" She gasped.
"Gavin has been arrested. I’m at the station, I just gave my statement. He is in a cell and he cannot get to you ever again."
"What did you do, Abigail?" She cried. I could hear the concern in her voice.
What did I do to deserve such a loving bestfriend like mine?
"Where are you right now? Which station? I’m coming to get you right now, do not move,"
"I’m fine, Annie."
"What station, Abigail?!"
"Okay, okay calm your tits," I grinned, telling her the address.
Annette arrived some forty minutes later in a cab, with a coat over her pajamas. I was barely in the cab before she began her rants.
"You told me you were getting snacks." She grabbed my shoulders, shaking me vigorously
"Snacks, Abigail. Chips and maybe some fucking juice, that’s what snacks means. It does not mean driving across the city and getting into a fight with a murderer in an alley!"
"In my defense," I mumbled, holding a finger up. "I called 911 first," 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Oh wonderful, great, how very responsible of you. You called 911 before walking into a building with a man who killed a detective. I feel so much better,
"I’m okay." My arms wrapped around her, pulling her in for a hug.
"I’m okay, Annie. Look at me. Everything’s attached, nothing’s broken and I’m just glad that bastard was caught red fucking handed."
A shudder wracked through her body and tears stung the corner of my eyes knowing she was crying too.
"Don’t do that again," she said into my shoulder. "Ever. I mean it,Abby. Don’t throw yourself in danger ever again like that."
"I would do anything to make sure you’re safe," I murmured, hugging her tighter.
"I know, and so would I babes. So would I,"
We remained that way for a long while..
The cab moved through the noisy city streets, driving us back home. My throat where Gavin had choked me was red and raw, but it was worth it. He would be red and raw now that his ass got thrown in prison.
A wide happy grin curled my lips. Besides, this meant I could meet Finnegan at the club tomorrow!
"What do you say," I pulled away to look at Annie’s face, wiggling my brows at her, "we go to the club tomorrow?"
"You’re insane!" Annette spat, shoving me away from her, her lips quivering at the corners of her mouth. "No, we’re not!"
Twenty four hours later however, we both strutted through the doors of the sanctuary. I had barely taken a step in when a huge shadow loomed above me.
