The Smiling Death
Chapter 401: An Angel
The black tower remained standing under the dark gray sky, which had now grown even darker.
The forest around it was destroyed. Trees were uprooted, the ground was shattered, and huge craters covered the battlefield.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Amidst the destroyed land, two figures were moving with inhuman speed, so fast that no normal eye could follow them.
They appeared in one place, vanished, and then reappeared somewhere else in the next instant.
Kazriel threw a punch at Amon with his gauntlet-covered fist.
Amon punched back with his own fist.
BOOM!
The moment their fists collided, a massive shockwave spread outward with a loud booming sound. It was as if explosions were happening again and again.
Their battle had already formed huge pits in the ground.
Kazriel punched again. Amon tilted his head slightly to the side as the punch passed right beside his face. Even that missed punch created a powerful air force behind Amon.
The trees behind him shook violently as if a storm had struck them.
At that exact moment, Amon moved.
He stepped forward and delivered a powerful uppercut. His punch landed perfectly on Kazriel's chin.
BOOM!
The punch sent Kazriel high into the air. His body shot upward, cutting through the air like a missile.
He stopped midair and looked down at Amon.
His black and violet eyes met Amon's blood-red eyes.
Kazriel wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and smiled slightly.
"You really got stronger after taking over the boy's body... alright, let's end this."
Suddenly, Kazriel's body began to shine in a purple light. The glow spread across his entire body like an aura.
Then something began to spread out from his back.
Amon, standing below, frowned. Inside his mind, he spoke to Vetaal, who was controlling his body.
'What is that'
Finally, Amon saw what was falling from Kazriel's body. White feathers.
'They are... feathers?'
Amon was shocked from inside. Behind Kazriel, something spread in both directions.
Two massive white wings unfolded behind him. They looked beautiful and divine. Long white feathers slowly fell from them as they spread wide in the air.
Amon was shocked internally.
'What is the meaning of this? Why does he have wings like an angel?'
But Amon's face showed a huge smile. Because it was Vetaal who was smiling.
'It's not angel-like wings,' Vetaal said calmly inside his mind. 'They are angel wings.'
Amon was stunned. 'You mean... Kazriel is an angel?'
Vetaal replied, 'Yes.'
At that moment, blood and mana inside Amon's body began circulating faster. Faster and faster. At an incredible speed.
The mana moved toward his back. His blood began to boil around that area. Then suddenly his flesh on the back tore open.
Blood splashed out as something forced its way out of his body.
A pair of dark red wings appeared behind Amon.
They were huge bat-like wings made of pure blood. Black veins ran through them, and the wings slowly moved as if alive.
Amon's face was still smiling because Vetaal controlled his body, but inside, Amon felt unbearable, scorching pain.
It felt as if his back had been torn apart and burned at the same time.
His entire body began to glow in a blood-red aura.
Kazriel flapped his white wings once. Amon spread his blood wings. Then both of them vanished from their positions.
They appeared high in the air, far away from the ground.
BOOM!
Another shockwave spread across the sky as they collided again.
This time, the shockwave was much bigger and stronger than before. Clouds in the sky scattered from the force.
Kazriel swung his fist. Amon blocked it and kicked Kazriel in the stomach. Kazriel grabbed Amon's leg midair and threw him downward like a meteor.
Amon crashed into the ground.
BOOOOOM!!!
The ground shattered, forming a massive crater.
But in the next second, Amon shot back into the sky with explosive speed.
He appeared behind Kazriel and slashed with a blood blade formed from his wing.
Kazriel turned instantly and blocked with his arm, but the slash still cut through his armor slightly.
Kazriel then spread his wings wide and thousands of white feathers shot toward Amon like sharp blades.
Amon crossed his wings in front of him. The blood wings hardened like a shield.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The feathers hit the blood wings like metal weapons. Amon then pushed forward and rammed into Kazriel midair.
BOOM!
Both of them flew across the sky like two comets colliding again and again.
One was that of purple light while othe being dark blood red.
Punches, kicks, shockwaves, explosions filled the sky.
Every collision sounded like thunder. They moved so fast that they looked like flashes of red and purple light clashing in the sky.
This was no longer a normal battle. This was a battle between higher beings.
Kazriel was an angel. While Amon who was fighting against him looked like a devil.
And the sky itself trembled from their battle.
A punch landed on Kazriel's face.
The impact send him shot in air like a shooting start.
BOOM!
His body collided against the black wall the tower. A huge web like cracked appeared across the tower wall.
Dust flew from there.
But it was not enough to stop kazriel.
In sky standing Amon with smile. Mana moved with unbelievable speed inside him.
The mana in surrounding was constantly sucked inside Amon's body. Running through his veins. Being used without any mercy. Without any rest.
'Boy...you okay?' Vetaal asked him. There was worry in his tone.
'Y-yeah...some-somehow...I am handling...the pain is just too much...as if infinite insects are crawling inside my body. With intense speed...' Amon said with tired and painful voice.
'Bear with it ....you have to defeat him...we have to get out of here!' Vetaal encouraged Amon.
'Yes...I know...just kill him.'
From the spider web like part of the wall. Purple light shot toward Amon.
Blood moved towards his both hands.
It sipped out from his body. Soon the blood spread and took form of swords in both hands.
Clang!
Amon crossed the sword, blocking the attack.
BOOM!
The blood red swords met againts a silver color spear.
"Haha! So you finally decided to get serious!" Vetaal said while laughing.
"You know...this is nothing...we are in humans body...we cannot even use tiny part of our true strength." Kazriel said while looking at Vetaal's eyes.
Vetaal smirked.
"True...I can't even use my arts and magic with this body...but this is enough to defeat you."
Both of them pushed each other. Amon's body suddenly began to glow in a deep red hue.
The glow intensified, spreading across his entire body like burning blood. The air around him began to vibrate, and then,
BOOM!
A massive shockwave burst outward from his body, spreading across the sky in all directions. The clouds nearby were pushed away as if a storm had exploded in the air.
Kazriel narrowed his eyes.
From Amon's back, the blood wings suddenly stretched wide, and from them.
Sharp lines of blood shot outward. Not just a few.
Hundreds, then thousands.
They were long, thin, razor-sharp blood spikes, each one moving like a flying spear. They filled the sky completely as they rushed toward Kazriel from all directions. It looked like a storm made of blood needles, meant to pierce and tear apart anything in their path.
The speed was terrifying. Kazriel immediately moved. His white wings flapped once, and his body vanished from his position.
He moved through the blood spikes at incredible speed, twisting his body, turning, diving, and rising again. The blood spikes passed by his face, arms, wings, and legs by a hair's breadth.
Some of them scratched his armor. Some cut small wounds on his arms and cheeks. But he avoided most of them with unbelievable speed and precision.
He looked like a beam of purple light moving through a storm of red blades.
But the attack did not stop.
More blood spikes continued shooting from Amon's wings again and again, filling the sky like endless rain.
Kazriel clicked his tongue slightly. Then he tightened his grip on his spear. The spear began to shine with a purple light.
The light grew stronger and stronger, spreading from the tip of the spear toward the shaft and then covering the entire weapon.
Soon, purple flames appeared on the spear.
They were not normal flames. They burned silently, but the space around the spear began to distort slightly, as if the air itself was being burned.
The moment Amon saw that spear covered in purple fire.
Inside his mind, Vetaal became tense for the first time.
A feeling he had not felt since the battle started appeared inside him.
He felt fear.
'That… is not good'
Vetaal muttered.
Amon felt his reaction immediately. 'What happened? Why are you suddenly tense?'
Vetaal did not answer immediately. He stared at Kazriel's spear carefully.
'That flame… I know it,' Vetaal said slowly.
'That is not normal fire. That is flames of Destruction.'
