"This is for you."

Looking at the exquisitely wrapped perfume in Li Mohan’s hands, Jiang Yisheng smiled faintly and reached out to take it.

"I’ve got a share too, huh."

"Hey, Asheng, why does that make me feel like I’m being biased?" Ye Jiuliang teased.

Jiang Yisheng smiled ingratiatingly, "Not at all."

"Mom, this perfume smells pretty good too." Veya unscrewed the cap and sniffed it herself before handing it to Grandma Jiang to smell. Both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law seemed quite interested in the perfume.

Lady Jiang held a bottle of perfume and smiled so much that the wrinkles on her face all showed up, "Xiaojiu is so considerate, even bringing us gifts when she goes out, unlike certain two people, who have not even bothered to bring me a little gift over the years."

It was self-explanatory who the certain two people were.

Jiang Yisheng touched his nose and sneaked a peek at Li Mohan, only to see that he was completely unfazed and very calm.

"You don’t have to look back and forth, I’m talking about the two of you." Lady Jiang glanced at Li Mohan and then towards Jiang Yisheng, pinpointing them directly.

Jiang Yisheng offered a flattering smile, "Grandma, I was actually planning on buying something for you, but the weather has been bad over there. Next time, I promise I’ll remember next time."

"Yeah, right." Lady Jiang gave him a disdainful look, "Blaming the weather now, you can’t even find a good excuse."

Jiang Yisheng scratched the corner of his forehead and silently bowed his head.

All of a sudden, Lady Jiang remembered something, and began to search through a ball of yarn. She quickly found a pair of warm yellow little shoes inside.

"Xiaojiu, look at this, isn’t it pretty?"

Ye Jiuliang looked down at the delicate and quaint shoes which had a little lion pattern embroidered on them with a needle and thread. They were soft and adorable.

Unlike the shoes sold in stores, these little shoes simply radiated warmth just by looking at them.

She reached out to take the little shoes, smiling brightly, "Pretty, very pretty."

Li Mohan leaned in from behind her, his deep gaze landing squarely on the little shoes in her hands.

"Aren’t they pretty?" Ye Jiuliang brought them closer for him to see, her eyes and brows tinged with a charming smile.

Li Mohan hummed in agreement, his usually sharp eyes gradually softening.

Ye Jiuliang pulled Li Mohan’s hand over and tried putting the little shoes onto his fingers, immediately making the scene comical and eliciting laughter from everyone.

"The baby’s feet are so small." Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but exclaim as she looked at the shoes hanging on Li Mohan’s hand.

"This color is suitable for both boys and girls to wear," Veya said with a smile.

Ye Jiuliang nodded and gently patted Lady Jiang’s hand, speaking in a gentle voice, "Grandma, it’s okay to just knit one pair. This is too taxing for you, you don’t have to keep busy with this anymore."

Although she was clueless about these things, she knew that just knitting a pair of these little shoes took a long time, not to mention that it was exhausting for the elderly lady, given her age.

"It’s no trouble at all, I’m not knitting all day, it’s not draining. Besides, these are for my great-grandchild. No matter how long it takes, I’m happy to do it," Lady Jiang waved her hand dismissively, her eyes crinkling into happy slits.

"Besides, it helps me pass the time. Two birds with one stone."

Ye Jiuliang chuckled softly, reaching out to poke the little shoes.

Her gaze shifted, looking at Li Mohan with interest, "Mohan, why don’t you also knit a pair for the baby?"

"Shoes are too complicated. Socks will do."

Li Mohan, "..."

Knowing full well that he clashed with the yarn, she still teased him on purpose. Li Mohan reached out to pinch her fair little face.

"How about we each knit one sock?"

Ye Jiuliang was taken aback.

That’s too cunning.

"Why are you not talking?" Li Mohan deliberately teased her, the corners of his lips turning up in a mischievous smile.

Ye Jiuliang gave him a sidelong glare, retorting firmly, "I’m not knitting."

Immediately, a burst of laughter spread.

Fearless of heaven and earth, Xiaojiu just feared needlework.

Li Mochan’s thin lips curved slightly as he reached out to embrace her, suppressing a laugh, "Alright, we won’t knit anymore, we’ll just go buy it."

Both spouses were unrelated to needlework, they could let the little one learn it later.

Ye Jiuliang stretched out her hand and pinched his arm, "Get lost."

Li Mochan chuckled softly.

**

Deep into the night, the bright moon hid behind the clouds.

The window was half-open, letting in a cold breeze.

The mobile phone on the bed was on speaker mode, and Ji Mingqian’s voice came through, "When are you coming over?"

"The day after tomorrow, I guess."

"By the way, has the paternity test result for Mo Lingling and Mo Chen come out yet?" Ji Mingqian suddenly remembered this matter.

Ye Jiuliang turned over, resting her head on Li Mochan’s legs, and reached out to pick up the phone, "Not yet, we just got Mo Chen’s hair yesterday, so it will probably take another two days for the results."

"Do you think master is really related to Mo Chen and his family?" Ji Mingqian inquired.

Ye Jiuliang scoffed, "What I say doesn’t count, let’s see the result."

Even if they were relatives, it would be like a weasel giving New Year’s greetings, not to be trusted.

Ji Mingqian chuckled lightly, "I heard you’ve sent a man to Mo Lingling?"

"You’re quite well-informed." Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow; Ji Mingqian was supposed to be out and about, how could he know about Mo Lingling.

"Do you regret missing out on such a lucrative job?"

"Get lost, you said the lucrative job should go to Li Mochan!" Ji Mingqian retorted irritably.

Li Mochan paused his finger on the tablet, looked up at the phone, his eyes flashing a meaningful light.

"Ji Mingqian, Li Mochan is right here listening, do you want to have a fight?" Ye Jiuliang, catching a glimpse of Li Mochan’s gaze, teased with a mischievous smile.

"Fight if we must, as if it’s certain Li Mochan would win." Ji Mingqian was brazen since they were far apart.

"Beating you would be more than enough." One always backs their own.

"Listen to you, blabbering on." Ji Mingqian chided.

"I forgot to ask you, what did you go to S city for?" Ye Jiuliang belatedly remembered the question she’d wanted to ask earlier, which she had forgotten amidst the joking.

As she spoke, silence fell on the other end of the line for a few seconds, "Went to have drinks with Chu Chen and others, also stopped by the dealership to look at new cars."

Hearing this, Li Mochan’s lips curved slightly as his finger swiped the screen, ordering another set of children’s clothes.

"Achen is in S city too?" Ye Jiuliang was surprised.

Ji Mingqian humorously said, "Yep, went to find his wife."

Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but snicker, "Your tone is quite sour there."

"I’m not going to chat with you anymore, I’m heading out."

With that, Ji Mingqian hastily hung up the call.

Ye Jiuliang placed the phone back on the nightstand, stretched lazily, and flopped into Li Mochan’s arms.

Looking up, she noticed he’d ordered a bunch of children’s clothes, each one custom-made.

Ye Jiuliang clicked her tongue; that could buy her many motorcycles.

Too wasteful, way too wasteful.

When will they wear all these?

She took a closer look and saw that he’d ordered all boys’ clothing, "Aren’t you buying a bit too much? What if we have a girl?"

"It will be a boy," Li Mochan asserted confidently, though it was uncertain where this confidence came from.
