The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss
Chapter 636, why do you always keep asking about Feng Yi (third watch)?
Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow, "What about the person who instigated it from behind?"
"Hit by the dark dart you gave me and then jumped into the sea."
"No clues?"
Li Mochan leaned in close to her ear, his deep voice lowering, "It was the Mo Family."
Hearing this, Ye Jiuliang’s eyes slightly darkened as her mind raced, "Did he confess on his own, or did you worm it out of him?"
Li Mochan curved his lips, "Wormed it out."
After a moment of thought, Ye Jiuliang asked with interest, "What do you think of Mo Yuan as a person?"
"Different from Mo Su." Li Mochan said.
Mo Su was treacherous and vicious, stopping at nothing to get his way. This Mo Yuan, on the other hand, didn’t seem quite the same; at least on first impression, he appeared to have a decent character.
Understanding the implication of his words, Ye Jiuliang’s lips curled slightly, "And compared to Mo Chen?"
"Also different." Mo Chen was simple in nature, whereas Mo Yuan was proud yet somewhat amiable; the difference was still quite significant.
"Your words sound a bit odd to me," Ye Jiuliang said, unable to suppress her amusement.
"They are from the same family, yet neither of them is like Mo Yuan. Could it be that they were actually picked up from a trash bin?"
Li Mochan looked down at her, a teasing smile playing in his eyes, "You do bear a slight resemblance to him."
Ye Jiuliang was speechless, "Are you complimenting or insulting me?"
Mo Yuan resembled her?
She couldn’t see it.
"If my father heard what you said, you’d be in for a beating."
She remembered when she was small, the most common phrase from her father was— "My Ajiu is most like me."
"Wouldn’t you protect me if I got beaten up?" Li Mochan lowered his head into the crook of her neck, his lips parting in a light laugh.
"Of course, I’d protect you. You, my Lord Li, are so handsome, what would we do if your good looks were ruined?" Ye Jiuliang spoke with a teasing tone.
Li Mochan laughed, "Make sure to keep your word."
...
After showering, Ji Mingqian carelessly dried his hair, threw the towel aside, grabbed his phone, and sprawled onto the couch.
Opening WeChat Moments, the first thing that hit his eyes was a fresh post from Jiang Yisheng.
There wasn’t any accompanying text, just a photo of him and Feng Yi together at a ski resort. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Ji Mingqian’s expression shifted slightly, and as if scalded, he abruptly sat up, staring at the photo.
Jiang Yisheng wasn’t in M country?
Before he could make sense of it, his actions beat his thoughts, and he dialed Jiang Yisheng’s number.
As the phone rang out, he immediately regretted it a bit.
Jiang Yisheng could enjoy himself. What was he rushing for?
Ji Mingqian frowned, just about to hang up, when the person on the other end answered first.
"Ji Mingqian?"
Ji Mingqian paused, cleared his throat, "Yes, it’s me."
"What’s the purpose of calling me so late?" Once confirming it was his voice, Jiang Yisheng picked up a glass of water and took a sip.
"Oh, nothing much. I was just a bit bored and wondering if you’d like to play some video games," Ji Mingqian casually made up a lie, "Why haven’t you gone to sleep yet?"
"I’m in S state, having fun with Yi for a few days," Jiang Yisheng explained, "We just went out for a late-night snack and just got back."
Ji Mingqian frowned slightly, feeling an inexplicable sourness in his heart. Why have a late-night snack at this hour, not afraid of getting fat?
"When are you going back?"
"I don’t know, it depends on the situation," Jiang Yisheng replied, his gaze catching someone emerging from the bathroom.
"All done?"
Feng Yi, drying his head with a towel, said helplessly, "How unlucky, the water heater in my room is broken, but yours is fine."
Jiang Yisheng teased, "Maybe it’s because there’s something wrong with your character."
Feng Yi laughed in exasperation and threw the towel at him, "Oh, stop it."
The dialogue between the two was transmitted to Ji Mingqian’s ears without any concealment, and his handsome face was filled with annoyance.
He spoke up to draw Jiang Yisheng’s attention back, "Is Feng Yi in your room?"
Jiang Yisheng hummed an affirmation, "Do you have anything else?"
The idiom ’the speaker means no harm but the listener reads into it deeply’ rang true for Ji Mingqian, as it seemed hardly different from being shooed away.
With a sour face and a slightly aggressive tone, he said, "No, go play your game."
After speaking, he hung up the phone decisively.
He must have been out of his mind to call him.
Jiang Yisheng was confused when the call ended abruptly.
What got into him that made him speak so rudely?
"Who were you on the phone with?" Feng Yi asked casually.
Setting down her phone, Jiang Yisheng said, "Ji Mingqian, he was asking if I wanted to play a game."
"Our spirits must be too high, dissolving our fan clubs one after another, and now still in the mood to play games," Feng Yi teased with a smile, taking a sip from the coffee on the table.
Jiang Yisheng glanced at him and chuckled lightly, "Dissolving the fan clubs is not the same as retiring. Do we need to have a good cry about it?"
"Before Mingqian showed up, your fans were matching us up as a couple, so why did all our couple fans switch to support Mingqian and you once he appeared?" Feng Yi clicked his tongue, utterly baffled.
He stroked his chin, "Could it be that Mingqian is better looking than me?"
Jiang Yisheng hadn’t swallowed the water in his mouth yet, and he burst out laughing.
"Pfft—"
"Are you full from dinner, or what’s with all these thoughts? Do you really like being paired with me that much?"
Really, his words couldn’t be more humorous.
Fortunately, Feng Yi was quick to react and dodged out of the way in time; otherwise, he’d have to take another bath.
He gave him a disgusted look, "What’s with the big reaction, do you also think Mingqian is better looking than me?"
"Want to hear the truth?" Jiang Yisheng dabbed his mouth with a tissue, amused.
Feng Yi instantly refused, "No, I’d rather not hear it."
Because the truth is generally not pleasant, and he didn’t like to hear it.
Jiang Yisheng smiled, "You better go back to your room and sleep. It’s been a long day, and I’m exhausted."
"You don’t have to drive me away, who would be so keen to share a room with you like that," Feng Yi snorted and stood up to leave.
Jiang Yisheng saw him to the door, then closed it and turned to head towards the bed.
Just as he was about to turn off the light, the cellphone on the nightstand began to ring again.
He glanced at the caller ID; it was Ji Mingqian again.
Jiang Yisheng furrowed his brows, thinking this guy must be going mad with boredom tonight.
After hesitating for a moment, he picked up the phone and answered.
Once connected, neither of them spoke, and an unexpected silence stretched on.
Finally, Jiang Yisheng couldn’t stand the awkwardness and spoke first.
"Ji Mingqian, if you have nothing to say, I’m hanging up, I need to sleep."
"Tired after playing with Feng Yi all day?" Ji Mingqian probably didn’t even notice how sour his tone was.
Jiang Yisheng’s delicate eyebrows slightly knitted, "Ji Mingqian, what’s the matter with you, really?"
His tone was so charged, it felt like he owed him a ton of money.
"Is Feng Yi still there?" Ji Mingqian asked out of the blue.
Hearing him mention Feng Yi every other sentence, Jiang Yisheng’s lips thinned, and the voice grew colder, "Why do you keep asking about Feng Yi?"
"You mind your own business," Ji Mingqian retorted impulsively.
He calls late at night to bother him and now says he shouldn’t mind?
He must be looking for trouble on purpose.
Jiang Yisheng’s face turned cold, "Who’s minding you? You’re the one who called me, not the other way around."
