The Kitty Became a Cutie and Was Pampered in the 80s
Chapter 1865: Buying a Cell Phone (Part 5)
She puzzled over to the kitchen, seeing a few of her favorite soup dumplings still hot in the pot, she used chopsticks to pick them out and sat in the dining room to eat. As she was halfway through, she heard the sound of a car outside. She looked up and saw Ruan Jianguo running in excitedly.
Jiaojiao took a sip of milk and curiously asked Ruan Jianguo, who surprisingly had sweat on his forehead, "Dad, what are you so excited about?"
It’s not even summer yet, and he’s already drenched in sweat.
"It’s a secret." Ruan Jianguo beamed, revealing eight teeth.
"Could it be that you and Mom are getting back together?" Jiaojiao guessed, otherwise, she really couldn’t think of any other reason for Ruan "Big Shot" Jianguo to be this happy.
The smile on Ruan Jianguo’s face instantly collapsed, and he replied a bit dejectedly, "No."
"Okay, sorry for touching your sore spot again." Jiaojiao shrugged her tiny shoulders, giving a not-so-sincere consolation, "But Dad, I believe in you. You should be able to win Mom back soon."
The divorce had dragged on from last year to this year. Jiaojiao had slowly gotten used to her current life, except Shu Jiao rarely stayed at home, but other changes weren’t too big.
"Um! I believe too," Ruan Jianguo’s smile crept back up his face after hearing her words.
After Jiaojiao finished eating, he couldn’t wait to drag her out the door.
Along the way, Jiaojiao asked him several times, but Ruan Jianguo was particularly good at keeping it quiet, not revealing a hint of information. Jiaojiao thought about how he mentioned buying something, and with his big-shot personality, she had a few suspicions. Could it be he’s been holding it in for half a year, and now he’s at it again?
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but advise with a bit of worry, "Dad, Mom hasn’t forgiven you for last time. You haven’t reconciled yet. You’re not planning to buy something really expensive again, are you?"
"Nonsense, it is a bit expensive, but this time it’s reliable. Sweetie, trust your dad," Ruan Jianguo immediately responded.
Seeing his confident look, Jiaojiao reluctantly pressed down her concern until they reached their destination. Looking at the big poster hanging in front of the mall and the crowd queued in front of the mall, she finally understood what was going on.
"Sweetie, see that? It’s called a mobile phone. I heard it’s much smaller than a brick phone, only the size of a palm. Dad is going to buy one for you and your mom." Ruan Jianguo pointed to the large poster with a phone on it and told Jiaojiao, excitement in his voice.
Jiaojiao, from the memories she received from Yuan Manman, knew that in the future, mobile phones would gradually occupy an important place in people’s lives. Yet, as she grew older, those memories slowly faded, and many she could barely recall, let alone this phone.
Seeing the phone being launched now, she couldn’t help but feel a little nostalgic and indescribably emotional for a moment.
Time really flies, doesn’t it?
"Jiaojiao?" Seeing Jiaojiao staring dazedly at the poster, not responding, Ruan Jianguo waved his hand in front of her eyes, "You don’t like it? It’s really small, and not ugly. You can take it to school and put it in your pocket, it’s very convenient."
Ruan Jianguo had wanted to get her a brick phone before, but Jiaojiao always thought it was ugly and refused to have one. When the news that the mobile phone was coming out surfaced recently, he reserved them early, wanting to buy one for both Jiaojiao and Shu Jiao.
