"You Master, we need you here!"

Doc and the others of the Oasis town guards had their hands full of the patients that there was literally not even enough space for them to walk around.
Lyall and Enora helped them to the best of their abilities by bring water and clean clothes while the others helped escorting the injured that were being teleported from the other locations.
Oceanās orders were separately given to the other teams who werenāt going to fight. There were a lot of individuals from the nobles side whom he could use for the fights so, there was no need for his personal army to fight. Their major task was to make sure there werenāt many casualities in the kingdom.
So, the teams were assigned to follow the armies that had marched into the battlefields and bring in the injured after their first aid so that they could be healed by Kai.
Those who had minor injuries were healed just by being in the rain for most of the time and those who had grave injuries were rushed to the Oasis Hospital which was currently overwhelmed. The injured were everywhere, the cots, floors, hallways all were packed.
The scent of medicine that Doc administered was choking the air while those who were close to death were assigned to Kai who casted non-stop healing spells.
He had lost count of how many times he had casted the spell and how many people had managed to walk out but as soon as the hall became empty it was instantly filled up. Some were elderly, some were young, some were losing body parts, some were barely clinging to life.
The sounds of people crying in pain and begging for help was enough to send anyoneās mind swirling but Kai desperately held onto his composure as he was needed here. He couldnāt move because he was the only one who could heal these people.
There were next to no healers in Sestia, most were in Denril because healing was considered as a Holy power. Sestia was built upon the corpse of a Dragon so, even if the other believer kingdoms would maintain a good relationship with them but they couldnāt go beyond that. Sestia had its benefits but also something damning.
One would think it was a blessing that the Dragon to emerge after centuries did so in Sestia but then again, it wasnāt like there was any change to it.
The present needed healers and they couldnāt do anything about that so, apart from those on the battlefields, Kai had the heaviest responsibility.
If he failed even a single life, he couldnāt be able to forgive himself.
"Young Master, you need to take a break, youāve been casting the healing spell for three hours now." Lyall said holding a glass of water for him.
Roan and others were busy escorting the newly healed batch outside of the room.
Kai accepted the glass of water and desperately gulped it down. He didnāt realise how thirsty he was, but he also felt sick to the stomach.
"You look really pale, Young Master. Please, I insist sit down for a while." Lyall pressed.
Kai shook his head, "I canāt... Master gave this responsibility to me."
"He didnāt ask you to push yourself to the state where youād collapse." Lyall corrected, "Besides you know youāre the only one that can heal so, think practically, if you collapse because of overexertion what happens."
Kai pursed his lips, he couldnāt say anything. He knew he couldnāt go for long because unlike Ocean, he didnāt have inexhaustible amount of mana and his healing also wasnāt instant. It was taking the people some time to completely heal as per the seriousness of their injuries.
Lyall sighed watching the expression on Kaiās face and then placed his hand over Kaiās shoulder speaking softly.
"At the end, you are the most precious to Master, Young Master Kai. If anything happens to you then heāll be even more upset."
Lyallās eyes then drifted to the window, the rain was constantly falling ever since the battle began and he knew Ocean had caused this rain. He still didnāt know of the bounds of his Masterās power, but it was easier to him to make it all make sense of he thought that his Master was a being close to God. No, with the way he was, he was God for a lot of people, including himself.
Even after being centred in one place fighting one enemy all by himself, the clouds that showered the healing rain were all over Sestia. It was his way of making sure to save as many as possible even after not being everywhere at once.
Standing in comparison to such a being and even being entitled to be his successor must come with tremendous stress. Lyall knew Kai was feeling that stress now but if he kept letting it crush him then it would cause an opposite effect. Kai had to learn how to not be intimidated and figuring out a way to deal with things on his own.
Kai placed the empty glass of water back on the table and then turned towards the window. His eyes were distant.
"I can hear Master fighting." He muttered.
Lyallās eyebrows twitched, he knew that Ocean was there and he had ordered everyone to leave at once since the leader of the dark forces was here but that was happening at some distance.
"Itās a sickening sound," Kai said, "itās like heās fighting a lot of monsters..."
Lyall opened his mouth, "Young Master-"
Kai started walking towards the open window, a good portion of the ground close to the open window was now a puddle because of the rain.
Lyall watched as Kai stood at the window, the rain showering over him, he closed his eyes as he just felt the rain falling over his face. He stood there silently, eyes closed as if he had turned into a statue.
"More patients incoming!" Lyall turned to see Roan and Remi hauling in more injured people.
Kai inhaled and exhaled, the scent of so much blood had momentarily reminded him of the time when he was in the dark cell. The feeling of those heavy chains on his ankles had returned and he couldnāt help but feel suffocated because of it all. He hadnāt even had nightmares of that time in months but being in this moment had pushed him back to face his younger self who had desperately prayed to be delivered from his suffering. And the prayer was answered.
"Give me strength." Kai prayed in his head, "...I wish to save everyone here... So, please...give me strength to do so..."
The rain had drenched his shirt and the cool droplets dripped from the aqua blue strands. His pale face slowly started regaining color as his heart skipped a beat before it started beating even louder than before.
Kai before a strange sensation ripple throughout his body, it was as if he wasnāt in his body anymore. The feeling of being detached from the bounds of flesh and bones, he felt as if he had suddenly tapped into something beyond his consciousness.
He could have sworn that he felt the cooling touch of Oceanās arms around his body and with the comforting cold came the surge of mana that seemed to flow within him like a waterfall.
He didnāt hear a word from Ocean but for some reason, he knew his prayer was heard and also answered. For a moment, he revelled into the feeling before he opened his eyes.
He touched his chest feeling the sparkling blue scales that covered his chest and forearms. He blinked in surprise, it had been years since he received Oceanās blessing that helped him maintain his human form so, watching his scales suddenly shocked him.
He touched his face feeling the scales over his cheeks, it was a good thing that he was facing away from the people or he could have been found out. For a moment, he kept touching the scales wondering how to make them disappear while he felt the injured people being brought inside the hall.
Their cried and wails filled the air again and he gritted his teeth hard, wishing hard to make his scales disappear.
Slowly, the scales started vanishing from his arms and he quickly touched his face feeling his skin return back to normal but the faint traces of the scales remained on his chest. It was a good thing that he was wearing a blue shirt so, even after being drenched the scales wouldnāt be visible.
But, why did the scales appear all of a sudden? Was it because he suddenly felt that mana upsurge in him? Was it another confirmation that he was indeed the chosen heir for Ocean Ryujin?
"Young Master?"
Kai turned around and saw the injured already filling the room.
Lyall stared at him, but the earlier concern seemed to have been replaced by relief. Kai gave him a small smile before he stepped over to the people and cast the healing spell once again.
