The Invincible Strongest Student
Chapter 1087: Song Selection
Jiang Pan Die has been in the entertainment industry for five years, but to Lin Tian, she still seems like a child, or perhaps she only shows her childish side in front of him.
Even after enjoying steak, sipping red wine, and experiencing the high life, she still loves the Student Street behind Kanyue City Medical University, with its array of snacks and trinkets.
See something she likes, buy! Smell something tasty, buy! Spot something beautiful, buy!
In short, just buy, buy, buy. Originally, she said she would treat, but it was Lin Tian who paid.
Even though it’s afternoon now, the Student Street is still bustling with people. Fortunately, both Lin Tian and Jiang Pan Die are wearing masks; otherwise, they’d be surrounded by a crowd.
"Eating so much, aren’t you worried about overstuffing yourself?" Lin Tian asked, his hand still holding a paper cup with unfinished spicy hot pot inside.
Jiang Pan Die nodded with a smile, "Stuffed! It’s been so long since I enjoyed eating like this. You have no idea how hard it is to be an artist; there are many things you can’t eat, fearing damage to your voice, getting pimples, or messing up your figure."
Lin Tian laughed and asked, "You don’t seem to be afraid of any of that, like a greedy cat." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Jiang Pan Die squinted and laughed, "Aren’t you here? A genius of ancient medicine, you’ll surely have a solution for everything I eat, right?"
Lin Tian thought for a moment, "It does seem that way. But the food you eat will make you gain weight; I really don’t have a solution for your figure going out of shape."
Actually, Lin Tian does have a solution, which is to give Jiang Pan Die a massage with his Thousand Hands technique, but that would be too intimate.
"No problem, gaining a little weight shouldn’t be an issue," Jiang Pan Die said with a radiant smile, "Let’s go, I’ll take you to another place."
"More food?"
"Not food, it’s a place I often went to during my student days. Now I think back and feel nostalgic."
"Where is that?" Lin Tian thought for a moment and asked, "Library?"
"No, too many people try to flirt with me at the library. To avoid them, I usually buy books to read at home. Don’t ask, just follow me, I won’t sell you or anything."
Jiang Pan Die was in a great mood today, or perhaps she had been in a good mood ever since meeting Lin Tian.
Despite only meeting two or three times, Jiang Pan Die already regarded Lin Tian as a good friend. She couldn’t quite pinpoint the reason, maybe because she had too few friends, so few that there was hardly anyone she could confide in. Finally meeting someone compatible, the sense of unfamiliarity quickly vanished.
On stage, she is a goddess, but in the night, she resembles a glowing little elf. She casually walked toward their destination. Occasionally, she sighed, "Many old stores are gone, how nostalgic."
Lin Tian could understand her sentiment and said leisurely, "Yes, I remember when I first arrived, my roommates and I had dinner at a very fancy restaurant, but now that restaurant is no longer there."
Lin Tian still remembered the place called ’Du’s Grand Hotel,’ it was under Du Dahai’s control back then. Later, Du Dahai fell from power, and the ownership was transferred, who knows to whom now, it certainly wasn’t Du anymore.
Jiang Pan Die brought Lin Tian to a KTV called ’Youth Feast.’ It was a large KTV, even located further from the main area, it was one of the most popular venues on Student Street.
Upon entering, her curious big eyes glanced around, observing the changes over the years.
"This place must have been renovated. The posters used to be King Zhou and others, now they’ve all been changed," Jiang Pan Die said.
"Haha, yes, it was renovated last summer; the old posters were worn out, now it’s all Jiang Pan Die," the KTV front desk lady said with a smile.
Indeed, the wallpaper featured Jiang Pan Die holding a microphone with closed eyes, her sweet expression during singing melting hearts.
Lin Tian asked the front desk lady with a smile, "Do you like Jiang Pan Die too?"
"Of course," the front desk lady nodded, "I’m in my second year now; I chose this place because it’s Jiang Pan Die’s alma mater. I even bought tickets for her arena concert."
"Thank you for your support," Jiang Pan Die said with a smile, feeling fortunate to encounter such a dedicated fan.
The front desk lady paused, confused, asking, "Why are you thanking me?"
"Uh..." Jiang Pan Die then realized she was wearing a mask, and the other party couldn’t recognize her.
Lin Tian chuckled, "No problem, open a room for us first."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Pan Die’s cheeks felt warm, and she lightly kicked Lin Tian, saying irritatedly, "It’s a private room! Not a hotel room."
Lin Tian rubbed his head and laughed dryly, "They’re the same, they’re the same."
The front desk lady rolled her eyes at Lin Tian, thinking he must be a lewd man!
Since there were only two of them, they just got a small private room, along with two fruit platters, a case of drinks, and some snacks.
Entering the room, Jiang Pan Die asked, "Do you have any songs you want to sing? I’ll help you pick."
"No need," Lin Tian said as he sat comfortably on the soft sofa, smiling, "I want to hear you sing first; opportunities to hear Mr. Jiang sing solo are rare. This must be a golden VIP seat, right?"
Jiang Pan Die hummed lightly, "No way, I didn’t bring you here just to play. You’ll be on stage in a few days; let’s pick a few songs you can sing now, and then we’ll rehearse at the arena. I reckon, after your impressive rap on stage last time at school, there’s no song that can stump you."
Lin Tian smiled wryly, "Did you bring me here for that? Didn’t you say we’d relax today? Isn’t this work?"
"They’re all the same, let’s practice a bit first, see how it goes, then we can sing other songs. I haven’t sung anyone else’s songs for a long time." Jiang Pan Die tugged at Lin Tian’s sleeves with both hands, pulling him from the sofa over to the song station.
"Do I have to sing your songs?" Lin Tian tilted his head and asked.
Jiang Pan Die thought for a moment and said, "For this concert, I invited you and another guest; he’ll sing two duets with me. You should at least pick two of my songs, plus one other song, making it two total. How about that, not too many?"
Lin Tian thought for a moment, "Not too many."
But looking at the playlist on the screen, Lin Tian was bewildered; there were more than fifty songs, and he only recognized one or two, leaving him at a loss for what to choose.
"Just these two, then?" Lin Tian picked "Butterfly by the River" and "Red Dust."
The reason was simplicity itself, he only knew these two.
One he had sung before, the other was one that Liou Qingcheng liked, so Lin Tian had listened to it; as for the others, they felt unfamiliar.
