Chapter 2216: Reassurance

Lex continued to frown as he thought about the situation a little more. His body wasn’t here, but even if it was, could his instincts really detect the intentions of a Dao Lord? It was all but impossible. Maybe if mastered his Dao Body training, or fully learned how to control it, he would be able to. But that was far from the case.

That left only a couple of answers. Either the Celestial Immortal that sent the letter allowed his intentions to be abundantly clear, letting the Innkeeper sense them without them being said, or that they were the intentions of the Celestials daughter who he had mentioned in the letter.

Speaking of the letter, the golden scroll burnt up after the illusion was over, leaving nothing behind. Although Lex felt it was a bit of a waste of ingredients, since the scroll was made up of a variant of gold even more precious than what Goldilocks made, it was also somewhat convenient as Lex didn’t need to store another Dao level letter in his drawer.

He was absolutely sure that nothing could go wrong with storing a bunch of Letters of Intents altogether within the same drawer, suppressed only by a few of his business cards. At least until Lex completed a Sanctuary of Dao, this was how he intended on storing his letters.

Speaking of which, he turned to look at the letter he had been writing. Some time ago, he had been contacted by the Henali, who wished to cooperate with the Midnight Inn in their realms beyond the Origin realm. They had nine other Major realms, and wished to bring at least one tavern in each one.

Lex very much wanted to accept, except that he had no connection to those realms. However, if he could get the Henali to send the taverns there from the Origin realm, he could use his workers to slowly build a connection to those realms while simultaneously operating the taverns.

However, he could not accept the request too readily. He set forth some demands, including but not limited to providing protection for the taverns, looking after his workers in their realm, allowing guests to enter the taverns rather than simply using them as strategic entry and exit points to connect the various realms and so on.

Lex was very much aware of just how incredible it was that the taverns could seamlessly connect to one another and the Inn. It had made travel between realms considerably easier! However, Lex set up restrictions so that others could not travel between realms themselves. They could only go from their starting realm to the Midnight realm and back. If he did not set this restriction, then he faced the threat of having his taverns being attacked or targeted for their ability to traverse between other realms. Even as they were now, his taverns were too big a target, considering the universal war itself was still ongoing.

Lex finished up the letter, and sent it to the Henali representative. This was not a negotiation. They had made a request, and he set forth his demands to fulfil that request. If they accepted, they could move forward. Otherwise, Lex had his own stuff to deal with, such as the Celestial delegation.

He saw no reason to delay, and sent a response immediately. He might as well use this time efficiently while his body underwent training for the Dao body. Fortunately, this training did not force him to stay until he had perfected the technique. Rather, he intended on learning until he was satisfied and then heading off. He could spend more time learning to control the Dao Body once he’d rescued everyone.

While the Celestial delegation sent his letter back to Weiss and waited for him to respond, Lex focused on the Dream tavern. The average level of the adventurers had reduced considerably, but their gains were nothing to scoff at. While the natives of the Dream realms were dreams, the realm itself was full of countless valuable resources that were especially nurturing towards spirits.

There was no fixed categorisation of the realms resources since it had been too long since the realm was last opened. As a result, the adventurers just began grabbing anything and everything they could get their hands on.

While these things were too low leveled for Lex to use personally, they were incredibly attractive to normal cultivators, which had caused a recent boom in activity in the Guild room.

After glancing at the entire space, he turned his attention towards Z, who was standing atop Little Blue, looking down on the realm as he usually did. The Innkeepers projection appeared right beside him.

"You’ve been working hard," said the Innkeeper. "Don’t you want to take a break while Velma is here?"

Z looked towards the Innkeeper, taken aback by his sudden arrival, but calmed down quickly enough.

"I had a reunion with Velma. Besides, it’s not like she’s on break. She’s working with those Celestials and... I don’t feel too comfortable around them."

The Innkeeper nodded. Z was quite perceptive.

"That is actually one of the things I came here to talk to you about," the Innkeeper said, giving Z an unusual look. "It seems you have... attracted some attention. Some guests might be coming over soon with the intention of discussing an arranged marriage, with you as their target. But I have no intention of arranging anyone’s marriage on their behalf.

"If that really is their intention, you may meet with the guests if you so wish, and make your own decision. If you do decide to see them, whether you find the proposal to your liking or not is the only thing you need to concern yourself with. Do not feel pressured or obligated to accept or reject based on the other party’s identity."

Z was taken aback, not expecting such a sudden development. How had he attracted any attention? All he ever did was work, and work. Could it be that the Celestials were interested in him? But he hardly ever interacted with Celestials at all.

The Innkeeper patted Z’s back, encouraging him.

"Don’t worry too much, and do what you want. No one can force us to do anything," said the Innkeeper, reassuring Z.
