Joanne grimaced. "Isn’t she still alive and being a nuisance. I wonder why she keeps escaping when she should have died a long time ago? I’m beginning to think that she is a witch," Joanne declared heartlessly.

Shawn was speechless. "Are you really a human? How can your thinking be this twisted? As a mother, how would you feel if someone plots to end my life. Would you sit back and applaud that person just because you are not satisfied with your son? Besides, as my wife, isn’t she your daughter?"

"Taaa!" Joanne rebuked.vehemently. "No one can kill you. Anyone that dares to, will have to face my wrath."

"And as for that wretched gold digger...," she stood up all of a sudden and turned around. "Look at me properly, I can’t be a mother to a shameless person like her, so you are not permitted to spew such nonsense from your mouth next time."

"She is just a money gobbler and has nothing to offer you. Open your eyes, son. Her death wouldn’t make any difference to the human raise. Whether she is dead or alive is inconsequential."

"Mom!" Shawn roared, rising from his seat. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he glared at his mother, his eyes red with killing intents.

The veins on his arms throbed at his clenched fist. Through gritted teeth, he bellowed. "One more word about my wife and I will forget that you are my mother."

Joanne unconsciously took two small steps backward, terrified at the beast her son had turned into. She sucked in her breath and a sour taste filled her mouth,

Her ears tingled, magnifying every word from Shawn into a grating roar.

"Are you threatening me, your mother, just because of a woman?" she managed to ask in a shaky voice.

"Do you dare say any more word against her?" Shawn threw back almost immediately, looking down at her. Somehow, he had found himself standing right in front of her.

He wasn’t bothered about what anybody would say or think of his actions, neither did he mind going against the world just to protect the image of the one he loved.

if anyone says anything negative about Kathleen, that person will be crushed, even his own mother was not an exception.

Joanne looked up at the furious man towering over her and for a minute forgot that he was her son. ’How did he become like this again?’ 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

It reminded her of what happened years back when he got the news that Kathleen had died in a plane crash.

Then, she had tried to talk him out of grieving for that woman because she was not worth it. He had turned fierce and outrighly grabbed her by the neck. Maybe she would have been strangled to death that day if not for her driver and Johnson, his assistant who were with them at the moment.

His current aura was not different from the one he had that day. She was a wise woman and knew when to retreat.

Besides they were all alone today and she still loved her life very much.

When she knew that she was at a disadvantage, she cleverly pretended as if she had been wronged.

"I can see that your mother means nothing to you," she sulked.

Shawn’s face remained as furious as an avenger’s. "You have to know your place if you want to continue being my mother, otherwise, I don’t mind doing away with this relationship." Shawn retorted heartlessly.

Joanne was instantly panicked by Shawn’s words. ’I can’t let something like this happen. How will I survive in Baltimore without his backing. She hurriedly apologized. "I didn’t mean to upset you, son. I’m sorry."

Anything can happen but their mother son relationship must never be tampered with.

If only Shawn knew that he had hit her weak point, how happy would he have been for the rest of his life?

Shawn calmed down slightly and walked back to his seat and gave her one final warning before he sat back on his seat,

"You just have to be mindful of what you say about Kathleen, especially when you are around me because it might not end this easily if there is a next time."

Joanne just harrumphed and said nothing to contradict his warning.

"You can use the door when you are ready to leave. I’m sorry I can’t see you off. As you can see I am busy."

Joanne reacted immediately. "Who is talking about leaving, I haven’t even said what brought me here in the first place."

"There is still more?" Shawn gave her a warning look.

"Relax. You will love what I’m about to say since it has nothing to do with ... her." She dared not attach any derogatory term to Kathleen after what she just escaped, neither could she bring herself to mention Kathleen’s name without feeling that she was soiling her mouth.

She ignored Shawn’s nonchalant expression and continued with what she had to say.

"I rushed back as soon as I overheard that there is a certain awesome lady in town."

Shawn did not say anything. He only lifted his head and stared at her. Nothing could be read from his bland expression.

Nonetheless, Joanne continued, "While on tour, I heard that Director Wyatt’s lost daughter was back and many of my friends have started making plans to make her their daughter in-law."

This succeeded in catching Shawn’s attention. Of course it wasn’t because of the identity of the said awesome lady, but he was more interested in knowing who those jobless women were who dared to plot against him? Do they think that he is dead that they want his wife for their sons. They should dream on.

Seeing the look on Shawn’s face, Joanne was elated that she successfully got his interest. Maybe, he might even agree to her proposal sooner than she thought. "From what they said, she is so outstanding and beautiful that no lady in Baltimore can compare to her."
