"You seem pretty relaxed, able to have breakfast on time."
Wang Chao saw Liu Banxia enjoying his millet porridge in the cafeteria and couldn’t help but make a jab.
"It’s not my fault. I wanted to get on stage too, but who told me to drink?" Liu Banxia said with a laid-back attitude.
"Later, when the alcohol was metabolized, I thought it better not to compete with everyone. It’s just a series of surgeries, not too many, no problem."
"But why are you out so early? I estimated everything would be done around ten or so. Several patients’ conditions were quite dangerous."
"The director handed over the later operations to Xu Yino and the others, who performed very well today and received praise from the director. Shi Lei and Wei Yuan are there guiding, Qi and Old Chen have a surgery." Wang Chao said.
"I’m also lucky, managed to hang in there all along, hungry to the point of dizziness. I wanted to stick around longer, but couldn’t endure anymore, not as young as I used to be."
"Give me a break. If you’re not young, I’d be hanging on the wall by now." Liu Banxia jabbed back. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Did they perform well, the six of them? Honestly, I wanted to go to the operating room to check things out too but feared affecting them, things downstairs were constantly busy."
Wang Chao nodded, "Indeed, they did very well. Especially at the beginning, there was no time to look after them, so they had to handle things themselves."
"I heard from Wei Yuan and Qi that they really weren’t bad. Otherwise, when the director comes over, he wouldn’t give a ’very good’ evaluation upon entering the operating room; it’s hard for the director to give compliments."
"The injuries were severe, but they did a great job in opening up and stopping bleeding. Although later surgeries needed guidance, I think now they deserve high praise. If I went in, it would not be much different."
Liu Banxia was pleased, sharing his tea egg with Wang Chao.
"Such a miser, could you be more generous?" Wang Chao grumbled.
"There are only two left, giving you one isn’t enough? You’re making me itch with regret. Fine, you eat them, I’m going to the operating room." Liu Banxia said and dashed off.
He hadn’t received a "help" call from the six juniors downstairs, which made him feel they must have managed things, bringing him comfort.
Now, being confirmed by Wang Chao, he couldn’t sit still.
The six juniors were meticulously trained by him. Despite seemingly harsh at times, it’s because he cares about them. He wants them to pay attention during medical practice, make fewer mistakes, reduce unnecessary errors.
Not going to watch was to avoid affecting their operation. Rushing over now is to witness their moment of glory.
It’s truly a sprint, for someone unaware, it could seem the operating room needed him to save the day.
Once at the operating room, he didn’t rush in but peeked discreetly outside.
In this operating room was Xu Yino, actually the main surgeon. Quite impressive, probably when she’s done she’ll boast about it.
In the second operating room was Huang Bo, also in the main surgeon’s position. This left Liu Banxia puzzled. What’s going on? Even if favored, shouldn’t be let loose this much.
These are abdominal surgeries, going on for so long, must be very complex operations; even he wouldn’t be so at ease.
Upon reaching the third and fourth operating rooms, Liu Yiqing and Su Wenhao were in the main surgeon position, which made him unsettled.
Just as he was about to move to the next operating room, Zhou Shuwen came over.
"You finally decided to show up?" Zhou Shuwen asked.
"Director, there’s nothing much downstairs anymore. Wang Chao can keep an eye for me later. Why let them lead the surgery? I see Xu Yino and Su Wenhao’s rooms don’t have a guiding doctor." Liu Banxia said.
"I’m guiding them, learned it from you, breaking big operations down into smaller segments, tackling one segment at a time." Zhou Shuwen replied with a smile.
"The difference from you is, instead of rotating, they complete each segment and we review it. Don’t stay idle; although it’s a bit tricky, scrub in and watch with us."
Liu Banxia quickly nodded, with Zhou Shuwen’s words, how could he refuse?
Moreover, it’s not suitable to let Zhou Shuwen go for surgery to surgery alone; students should assist in the labor. Coming from the night all the way busy till now, finishing everything at least by around ten.
"Wow, Teacher Liu, how come you’re here?"
Entering Xu Yino’s operating room, Xu Yino exclaimed excitedly.
Liu Banxia nodded, pretending to be aloof, "Just took care of all the patients, how’s it going here?"
"Alright, surgeries are quite complex, taking a bit longer." Xu Yino said while operating.
Li Liwei, amused, glanced at the two, noticing Xu Yino’s slightly different status since Liu Banxia entered.
Today... to be precise, the appendectomy at midnight was collaborated with Xu Yino, familiar with Liu Banxia, seeing his pretentious demeanor, he’s up to something.
"How did this happen? How come you’re the lead surgeon and Li Tianyang is the assistant? What if something goes wrong? Oh... the director is too irresponsible." Liu Banxia said, pretending.
"Teacher Liu, I must protest strongly. This is a liver resection surgery after all, such a major operation, and I did it independently. You don’t even praise me." Xu Yino was anxious.
"What do you mean by liver resection? You just cut off a tiny bit, making it look like you’ve taken out the whole liver." Liu Banxia smirked.
"Then why don’t you praise me? This is the highest-level surgery I’ve completed independently." Xu Yino replied, feeling aggrieved.
"You speak as if it’s such a big deal. It’s been so long, and such a small task isn’t finished yet? The tea eggs in the cafeteria are all sold out, what will you eat after you step down?" Liu Banxia said.
"Huh? Really out of stock? I see, there are too many patients and family members today, more people eating." Xu Yino felt a bit annoyed.
"Don’t get too cocky, it’s almost done, just focus on your work." Liu Banxia said and then strolled away.
It’s also known why Zhou Shuwen was so confident.
Among high-level surgeries, liver surgeries were the most frequent with them. Recently, they have even performed liver autotransplants; this minor post-trauma liver resection is quite straightforward.
No need to consider tumor infiltration and metastasis, just traumatic repair.
"Teacher Li, technically Teacher Liu should praise me, why did he say nothing today?" Xu Yino asked.
"You’re too involved to see clearly. If he wasn’t confident, would he have walked out?" Li Liwei said with a smile.
"Surely he went to observe other operating rooms, he’s quite happy inside, otherwise why not hurry back? If he wanted to come back, he would have run."
"Heh-heh, not bad, I need to stitch properly." Xu Yino chuckled and continued the stitching.
Liu Banxia, too, began his theater-hopping mode; yet similarly didn’t give praise, just casually commented a few words.
In reality? He felt overjoyed inside, elated beyond measure.
Trauma can vary greatly, not just abrasions or cuts. In a major car accident, many patients actually have compound injuries.
Perhaps an object inside the car caused blunt trauma to the body, even if it seems okay on the surface, the violent impact might have damaged internal organs.
The spleen is most prone to issues, being very fragile. However, other organs like intestines, liver, kidneys can also easily sustain damage.
Especially when some patients sustain injuries and the capsular membrane doesn’t rupture, initially the impact is minor. But as bleeding increases, the capsular membrane breaks, causing massive bleeding, which is dangerous.
Today’s patients in the operating room have substantial issues; three surgeries are joint operations. Yet the six juniors, along with Liang Xiaolin, are all taking the lead today.
Others will give guidance and let them finish the procedures. Although time-consuming, it won’t adversely affect patients.
They are his protégés, how could he not feel proud?
Hearing something from Wang Chao is one thing, seeing it firsthand is another. Though he was bold before, he couldn’t be overly reckless during surgeries.
Who knows what idea Zhou Shuwen got today, allowing them so much autonomy, yet the confidence-building alone achieved profound results.
Pride? It won’t occur in these seven.
Even Liu Banxia frequently pokes fun, often criticizing them but knowing them well. Xu Yino might flaunt a little, but won’t become arrogant.
"Looks like you’re beyond ecstatic."
Striding into Chen Xuehai’s operating room, Chen Xuehai casually remarked.
"Just average, let me enjoy this for now, you focus on your work." Liu Banxia said gleefully.
"Any remaining patients needing surgery?" Chen Xuehai asked.
"No, yours is the last patient." Liu Banxia responded.
"You have no idea, reviewing those films gave me a headache. You guys are lucky, just head straight into the operating room and settle it. Next time definitely drink less, no matter the joy, drink in moderation."
"Exhausted, this is my fourth surgery today. In just a few hours, Linlin assisted with many finishing touches." Chen Xuehai said helplessly.
"I saw her, she’s truly remarkable now. Chief Director Li is supervising her, is this a consensus among the big shots?" Liu Banxia asked curiously.
Chen Xuehai nodded, "It’s considered a centralized examination and appraisal for them, a good thing."
Liu Banxia punched the air forcefully.
It seems, welfare for the six juniors is coming.
