The Enhanced Doctor
Chapter 947: All Familiar Faces
(Thanks to the Jade Emperor for the monthly ticket encouragement)
"Teacher Liu, you really should learn from the director, give us some more encouragement when you can."
On the way to the emergency center, Xu Yino said with a satisfied smile.
"I haven't encouraged you enough? Not to mention other things, just my meal card, I'm sure I've eaten less than all of you combined." Liu Banxia said.
Everyone else started laughing. Xu Yino and Liu Yiqing were particularly obsessed with raiding Liu Banxia's meal card. After all, being girls, they were much braver than the other four.
"Teacher Liu, should we bring more debridement kits today?" Xu Yino asked.
Liu Banxia nodded, "Bring more saline and some ice too. You never know, there might be cases of heatstroke, and ice would be very useful then."
"Let's just say, bring everything you can think of, just load it all onto the vehicle. Leave enough space for the three of us to sit and use up the rest for supplies."
"If there are really patients who need to be taken to the hospital, there will be other emergency vehicles available. We just need to manage the scene well. I heard there are quite a few participants this time, both domestic and international, about forty thousand people."
"Oh my god, that many people?" Xu Yino was startled.
"Surprised, aren't you? I'm telling you, this is my first time participating too. Hahaha..."
Liu Banxia said seriously, and then couldn't help but laugh.
Listening to his laughter and seeing Xu Yino's sour expression, people knew she had been teased by Liu Banxia again.
This was also the daily life of the emergency center. Although the six interns were very favored, they often got teased by Liu Banxia, and not even Su Wenhao was spared.
However, the numbers Liu Banxia reported really scared Xu Yino and Su Wenhao. Among these participants, only a small fraction were professional marathon runners; the rest were just there for fun.
But those just-for-fun participants were actually more likely to have problems. Even if only 1% of them had issues, today's task would be hefty.
After preparation, they directly headed for the starting point of the race. They needed to arrive a bit early to distribute the tasks.
"Teacher Liu, what are we having for lunch?" Xu Yino asked with a cheerful smile.
"Boxed meals, what else? We have to follow the unified arrangements, no personalized options." Liu Banxia replied.
"Sigh... I was pretty excited, but there's not much to look forward to in boxed meals." Xu Yino said.
"We're here to work, and we still have to see how things are at lunchtime. Haven't you seen how big the sun is today? It's so hot, who knows what might happen." Liu Banxia said.
"You two also need to make sure you stay hydrated. It would be embarrassing if the marathon runners were fine and you both ended up needing care. Stay alert at the scene, we need to outshine the other hospitals."
"Teacher Liu, don't worry, we'll definitely handle it." Xu Yino assured confidently.
"We might even make it on TV this time, but it depends on our luck. There'll surely be interviews." Liu Banxia added.
"It's all a bluff. They said we'd be on TV last time, but I got nothing." Xu Yino remarked.
Even Su Wenhao laughed. The last on-site surgery had gotten Xu Yino all excited; she even prepared a lot of interview responses. And then? She ended up having almost no involvement.
Chatting away, the vehicle came to a stop at the venue. They thought they were early, but almost everyone had already arrived.
There were indeed a lot of people, including not just adults but also many children brought by their parents to join the fun.
"Oh, Chief Director Xu, what brings you here?" Just stepping off the vehicle, Liu Banxia spotted Xu Chengjun.
"Did you think only the big city hospitals could contribute? Local hospitals like ours also need to pitch in." Xu Chengjun replied with a smile.
"But now you're a deputy director. How about after today's event, do you have time? If you do, let's catch up."
"Sure, I'll definitely make time. If I knew you'd be here, I would've hurried over sooner." Liu Banxia said.
"Li Tianyang is doing quite well. He's got some experience and is picking things up quickly. In some days, if there's a suitable patient, let Su Wenhao guide him through a minor appendectomy. He has to master this skill."
"Haha, that's great. Let me introduce you. This is Qiu Wei from the city's cardiology department. We've had many collaborations before." Xu Chengjun said.
"Nice to meet you, Doctor Qiu. I'm Liu Banxia from the Second Hospital Emergency Center." Liu Banxia greeted quickly.
He felt that Qiu Wei looked familiar, and since it was Xu Chengjun introducing him, he knew he had to respect the connection.
"Dr. Liu, you don't remember me?" Qiu Wei asked with a smile.
"Uh... You seem familiar, but I didn't dare to assume." Liu Banxia replied.
As he thought back, did he perhaps meet him when he went to the city hospital to see Xie Chunli? But he had no impression of it.
"Qiu Wei, do you really know Banxia?" Xu Chengjun was curious too.
"He sent a heart attack patient to our emergency department." Qiu Wei replied.
"Oh, I remember now. I was visiting a patient when I encountered someone having a heart attack on my way back, so I sent them over since it was close." Liu Banxia recalled.
This is really a memory jog, and since they've met once before, it makes things more familiar.
As for Qiu Wei, he's heard of Liu Banxia. After all, Liu Banxia becoming the deputy director is quite a unique case within the entire medical system.
This has circulated several times within Binhai City, considering that many graduates from Binhai Medical College are in the medical system in Binhai City.
He feels quite emotional about it; before he realized it, Liu Banxia became the deputy director of the emergency center. Despite not having a higher title than him, his position is indeed much higher.
But as they're from two different hospitals, there's no need to dwell on it too much. With Xu Chengjun here, it's a good conversation.
Other jobs are naturally left to Xu Yino. If Liu Banxia had to handle everything personally, there wouldn't be much use in bringing her along.
"Teacher Liu, can I take some photos and post them on my social media later?" Xu Yino asked.
"Keep it moderate and pair them with some good phrases. For example, 'standing by your post,' 'escorting and safeguarding,' just whatever positive energy you can think of." Liu Banxia said.
"Hehe, sounds good to me. I'll just do three photos, too many would indeed be inappropriate." Xu Yino said happily.
"Director Liu, I didn't expect your hospital to be led by you today."
As soon as Xu Yino finished speaking, a familiar greeting came from not far away.
Liu Banxia looked over and encountered another acquaintance, the reporter from the TV station, Qu Feng.
"What's up? Did they give you the task of interviewing on-site today?" Liu Banxia asked.
"With an event this big, there are bound to be a lot of reporters. So, do you want to have a quick interview?" Qu Feng asked.
Hearing her words, Xu Yino perked up. She really didn't expect there to be an actual interview.
"Just casual chatting, right? There's not much to see with this old face of mine. How about interviewing a pretty female doctor?" Liu Banxia said with a smile.
Qu Feng nodded, "Sure, we're mostly gathering materials in the early stage."
"Then it's her, Xu Yino. Still remember her?" Liu Banxia asked.
"I do remember, but last time was really too rushed." Qu Feng said.
"Hehe, it's fine, just getting featured is worth a lot of praise. Or perhaps it's better to interview Teacher Liu, I can just stand by the side." Xu Yino quickly said.
"Done with your feisty side after hours? Not the time to snatch my meal card for food?" Liu Banxia said.
Xu Yino was somewhat exasperated but didn't dare to resist with an outsider present.
"All right, just interview her, but we need to hurry, it's about to start." Liu Banxia said.
Since he said so, it's naturally settled. Plus, it's just a material-gathering interview, not a special investigation, so it's no big deal.
"Doctor Xu, I see there are many citizens registered for the marathon this year. So for us ordinary people, what should we pay attention to when participating in such intense competitions?" Qu Feng asked.
"Actually, there are many things to take note of. The first point is our physical condition. If we have heart disease or certain infection symptoms not yet fully healed, we don't recommend participating." Xu Yino said.
"Patients with heart disease may suffer cardiac arrest after excessive exertion. Those with infection symptoms might have myocardial damage from intense activity."
"These infections aren't just major lesions; many of our flu patients, whether during a cold or immediately after recovery, shouldn't participate as it could lead to accidents."
"Furthermore, if we feel unwell during the race, I suggest participants immediately stop and undergo the appropriate examinations."
"For instance, symptoms like sports injuries, cramps, abdominal pain, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, dizziness, and blackouts all require immediate cessation."
"Thank you, Doctor Xu. I never thought even post-flu recovery would mean no marathon." Qu Feng said.
"Here too, we remind everyone that there's a marathon every year, but life is only once. We must thoroughly prepare for our sake and our families when participating."
"OK, all done." Xu Yino said happily.
"That silly demeanor is no different from Liu Yiqing." Liu Banxia teased.
"Hehe, one's gotta love being in the spotlight." Xu Yino said.
Qu Feng was amused, finding Xu Yino's directness and candor refreshing. She said what she meant—she wanted to be on camera, so what?
"Looks like professional consultation is indeed necessary." Qu Feng said.
"Reporter Qu, these are actually things our Teacher Liu discussed. But he talked quite a bit, so I simply summed it up." Xu Yino said.
"Listen and remember, then it becomes your knowledge." Liu Banxia said.
"Hehe, Teacher Liu, I'll treat you to chicken drumsticks at lunch tomorrow." Xu Yino said joyfully.
Qu Feng found it amusing again, as it always seemed light-hearted when seeing Liu Banxia.
