The young women had finally seen what it meant to be utterly shameless.

Having said her piece, Li Hongmei stopped crying.

The thought of attending the feast even made her want to smile a little.

None of the other young women said a word, completely ignoring Li Hongmei.

’Either way, they weren’t bringing Li Hongmei with them tomorrow.’

A similar scene was playing out on the men’s side.

This was especially true for Xue Changping. He had been injured, and if Leng Yuan hadn’t arrived in time, he wasn’t sure he would have survived.

He knew Li Fenggu was going to the feast, so he couldn’t resist speaking up.

"Fenggu, I’d like to go with you tomorrow. I still haven’t properly thanked Leng Yuan for the incident with the wild boar. Do you think it would be convenient?"

Xue Changping’s injury had just started to heal, right in time for Leng Yuan’s feast. Coming from a well-to-do family, he had already prepared a gift.

Li Fenggu didn’t mind.

The other educated youths looked on, ashamed.

Leng Yuan had saved them days ago, yet they’d never even thought to thank him.

’Leng Yuan is hosting a feast, and even though he hasn’t invited us, we can still bring a gift to add to the festivities. We could just go later and not stay to eat.’ 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

And so, they also started to speak up.

"Then let’s all go together!"

"It’s the perfect chance for all of us to thank Leng Yuan together."

"But with so many of us, we shouldn’t stay for the meal. We’ll just drop off our gifts and head back."

Li Fenggu didn’t refuse. "Alright."

Of the dozen or so people in the dormitory, only Yun Hao and Hu Ziqiang hadn’t said anything.

After a moment of silence, Yun Hao spoke up as well.

"We’ll go too, then. What are you guys planning to give as a gift? We can all pool our money."

The rest of them were left speechless.

It was one thing for the others to go, but for Yun Hao to go was a bit strange.

Everyone at the outpost knew that Gu Jiaojiao had pursued Yun Hao. Now that she was finally married to Leng Yuan, who knew if old flames would be rekindled if Yun Hao showed up.

’What if it caused a huge scene? What would they do then!’

Li Fenggu couldn’t help but offer a word of caution.

"Yun Hao, if you want to give a gift, we can just bring it over for you."

This was a very blunt suggestion.

Yun Hao understood the implication immediately. He knew he shouldn’t go, but he just wanted to go.

"No, that’s alright. Since everyone else is going, it wouldn’t look right if I didn’t. After all, Leng Yuan saved me that day."

When Hu Ziqiang saw that Yun Hao was determined to go, he quickly chimed in.

"That’s right, we need to go thank him too."

’Everyone else was going. It would look bad if he were the only one who didn’t.’

The others were left speechless.

’The others might be going to genuinely thank Leng Yuan, but as for Yun Hao and Hu Ziqiang... it looked less like they were going to repay a debt of gratitude and more like they were going for revenge.’

But they were in no position to stop them from going.

This put them in a bind.

Xue Changping, however, was more direct.

"Yun Hao, considering your history with Gu Jiaojiao, it’s probably not a good idea for you to go, is it?"

Yun Hao frowned. "Changping, Gu Jiaojiao is a married woman now. Don’t just say things like that. There’s nothing between us."

Yun Hao thought for a moment before adding,

"If Leng Yuan were to hear that and get the wrong idea, it would cause huge trouble for Gu Jiaojiao."

’Wait a minute. You know it could cause a misunderstanding, yet you’re still rushing to go? Are you out of your mind?’

But it was true that Yun Hao and Gu Jiaojiao had never officially said anything in front of everyone, so he couldn’t really argue with that.

「The next day.」

Everyone at the educated youth outpost was up.

And they were all wearing new clothes.

Chen Ruoyu looked surprised and leaned closer to Li Fenggu.

"What’s going on here?"

Li Fenggu didn’t hide the truth. "The men want to show their gratitude to Leng Yuan, so they decided to go thank him together."

"It’s the same with the women here," Chen Ruoyu said. "How about this? I’ll go on ahead to help out and give Jiaojiao a heads-up. You can bring everyone else over a bit later."

Li Fenggu agreed this was the most prudent approach. Otherwise, if they caught Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao by surprise, it would be like they were there to crash the party.

"Good idea," Li Fenggu said. "You go on ahead. I’ll let the men know, and you can tell the women."
