The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss
Chapter 613: Devouring the Abyss
"..." I look at the place where the "abyss" is—it’s the threshold of the universe and the limbo—and then I approach very carefully. Visually, it seems like nothing exists, but if you try to feel the magic, it’s obvious there’s something there.
"What’s the best way to eat the abyss..." The abyss is still something that exists as a piece of the universe, so it’s not simply a matter of trying to bite it. After returning to my true form, my interest really dropped off.
’Seems like really... my true form has an inhibiting effect on my emotions...’ I use what I learned from the fundamentals of creation, along with what I know of universal laws and my ability, Essence of Creation, and then I begin to shape my existence around the abyss.
I "hug" the abyss as if it were a giant sphere. My four arms grip it tightly, while the "abyss" starts to appear—it’s like a massive black orb, forcibly compressed through my power.
I can hear screams, chaos inside there. The entire abyss must be trembling and collapsing under my strong embrace. My tongue licks this sphere as my teeth prepare to pierce and chew.
But before trying to chew, I hug tighter, compressing this existence even more. It’s like a dark mass of primordial goddess mana. My hands tremble with the extreme force I have to exert just to keep the abyss in my grasp.
CRACK
I finally sink the teeth on my belly into the abyss, piercing this fragile bubble of mana. But immediately, I feel as if my body is burning—the wave of magic is so violent.
If it weren’t for the passive Devourer, I could never eat the abyss, and I don’t think anything in existence could. That passive is mandatory for my body to withstand so much "rotted" mana.
Soon I manage to close my jaw, tearing off a piece and swallowing. The black liquid dripping from the floating spiral above my neck starts spilling much more of it, and my body trembles in agony. Each bite and chew feels like my mouth is being destroyed.
’Even with the passive, it hurts this much...’ The giant eye floating behind me is weeping black tears of suffering. I think I underestimated how dense and destructive the primordial goddess’s mana could be.
"G-Ghhhmmm" When I swallow the piece, I feel like I’m going to vomit. The tears shift from pain to despair as I pant like a child eating pepper for the first time in their life.
But I force myself to swallow, feeling as if my body is being obliterated from the inside. I never expected eating the abyss to be easy, considering it was created from the remnants of the primordial goddess’s mana.
CRUNCH
I take another bite, trying to stabilize the abyss to keep it from expanding and tearing my body apart. My hands squeeze each other, fingers interlacing to maintain a firm grip while I chew.
I start feeling my mouth bleeding, as if thousands of glass shards were slicing every part of my mouth. Which is insane, because the Devourer passive let me eat anything without taking damage to my mouth or stomach.
I press the sphere against my thighs, feeling blood dripping down my hips onto them. That way, I avoid slipping and letting it escape.
’I-I want to give up so badly...’ Nothing has ever hurt this much. I feel my blood boiling. This black mass flowing through my veins is bubbling as if being boiled to the extreme.
My pale skin is reddish, darkened, emitting some black trails. But giving up isn’t something I would ever do, so I keep chewing the abyss no matter how much pain I feel.
Until I can feel this rotted magic reaching my soul. The eye floating behind me explodes, overwhelmed, while my mouth vomits black blood and my hands tremble so much they almost drop the abyss.
I feel like my soul is breaking into pieces, gaining deep cracks. Many cracks shining golden appear on my body. But like an obstinate animal fighting to survive, I ignore the pain and keep chewing.
Each bite I take, each time I swallow this garbage, is one more step toward the strength I need. I won’t give up even if my body is screaming in pain and giving up before I do.
I squeeze the abyss even harder, shoving it against my belly. If small bites are destroying me, then I’ll swallow it all.
The jaw on my belly opens grotesquely as I push the abyss inside with all my strength. The teeth end up snagging it, but they’re so fragile they break as I keep shoving this sphere inward.
Nothing ever broke my teeth while I was eating, but the pain is practically nothing compared to the pain I feel from the damage.
My regeneration barely keeps up with the damage, but I simply continue until I manage to get half of it inside. I start punching it inward with all four hands, while the teeth clamp down hard, trying to break it.
Finally, with a sound loud like shattering glass, the abyss splits in two. My teeth begin chewing desperately, grinding and breaking the abyss into smaller and smaller pieces so I can swallow.
I feel suffocated. The pain clouds my mind completely as I keep chewing more by reflex. And after what feels like an eternity, I swallow it all. Two of my arms fall off, detaching from my body because of the cracks.
My legs have completely vanished up to the thighs, turned to ash. But I survived. I still feel the energy circulating violently through my body, but the passive manages to contain the violent release of magic.
Fortunately, magic stabilization is something I’m very good at, and my true form has immense capacity for it. So I won’t die from minor impacts, and I survived the worst part.
Not even a black hole in the universe comes close to being as dense, heavy, and destructive as this mana. It’s frightening to think that all of this is just old remnants of the primordial goddess’s power.
"I-I... did it..." My voice comes out completely destroyed and distorted—a chaotic cacophony because I don’t have the strength to use magic to simulate a normal voice. So the voice, which in my true form is already distorted, became even worse.
I float adrift in space while the place where the abyss once was begins to close into a natural universal barrier, preventing the limbo from affecting the universe.
Briefly, I open my status. I want to see the results of having devoured the abyss. And no surprise—my level increased a lot. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Level = 93,000,000,000 / 100,000,000,000
Power = 92,999,825,625 / 92,999,825,625
Life = 92,999,825,625 / 92,999,825,625
Stamina = 92,999,825,625 / 92,999,825,625
Resistance = 92,999,825,625 / 92,999,825,625
Magic = 92,999,825,625 / 92,999,825,625
Total = 464,999,128,125 / 464,999,128,125
Universal Devourer – Was able to devour a direct piece of the universe itself.
Abyssal Calamity – Was responsible for reaping all 53 Quindecillion life forms of the abyss at once.
------------------------------------------------------
’I even got two titles... 53 Quindecillion? So that’s how many beings were in there...’ That’s a very large number, though I believe it’s counting even bacteria and microorganisms.
Strangely, it jumped from 25 to 93. That’s a much higher value than I expected. Maybe I directly absorbed the primordial goddess’s power, and that’s why so many levels were gained at once.
"..." I form two wings of darkness and begin flapping them weakly, trying to move away from here. It would be terrible if Elysia noticed the abyss disappeared just now.
’I need... to get away...’ I feel dizzy and tired. The level increase didn’t remove exhaustion or damage. So pathetically, I "drag" myself through space flight. My wings are very deformed because I can’t concentrate enough to make them properly.

"So what now? Do we still have Pandora as a target?" The avatar of order asks me with a serious look. We saw what Pandora did.
"Yeah... I think we can leave Pandora alone. She showed she’s not just a problem—she’s fixing problems. So she’s no longer a target for now." I, as the avatar of entropy, understand that Pandora just did an excellent service for balance.
We’ve wanted the abyss gone for years, but none of us could do anything. It’s against the rules. But now that Pandora, as a goddess, did this work, I think it’s fine.
"Haa... forget Pandora. After this, only if she does something problematic could we do something." Several of us avatars were watching Pandora, waiting for a slip-up so we could kill her.
But we’re not that obsessive. Pandora was on the edge of trouble. Any other problem she caused would bring her end. But now that she’s done useful things like this, she’s left the red zone.
"All right, then. I’m leaving. I finally have free time. Thanks to Pandora, the universe just got lighter." She waves at me and leaves, while I just check the small hole left in the universe.
’It’ll close completely soon... Pandora really did an exceptional job.’ I really wanted to kill her—after all, she greatly affected entropy in the past. But with this, I’d say we’re "even," since the abyss was a headache for me.
’Don’t mess up again, Pandora.’ Pandora seems attentive to the "rules." I hope she stays that way. And as a small gift, I’ll keep Elysia from finding her for now—a reward for her excellent work.
