Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Sent Flying with One Punch

To Vera Xavier’s surprise, Cara Preston hadn’t stayed home to recover but had come to school with Rona Langdon. Upon arriving, they didn’t go straight to their classroom. Instead, they went to find Principal Gage, showed him Cara’s medical records, and demanded she be given special consideration.

Principal Gage only agreed to see Rona Langdon and Cara Preston out of respect for Zachary Preston. After seeing the medical records, his gaze darkened slightly. He then called for Juliana Taylor and gave her a few instructions.

After listening, Juliana Taylor glanced at Cara Preston and asked in a flat voice, "The college entrance exams are just around the corner. Can your body handle it?"

Cara Preston nodded, but Rona Langdon had already spoken up. "Ms. Taylor, Cara’s health is poor, and she can’t handle any stress. You must keep a close eye on her. If anything happens to her, I will hold you solely responsible!"

Juliana Taylor’s temper flared. "Since you know perfectly well her health is poor, you shouldn’t have sent her to school at all! You should have just kept her at home!"

Rona Langdon’s brow furrowed. "What kind of attitude is that? As a teacher, shouldn’t you care for your students?"

Fearing the two would start arguing, Principal Gage tried to mediate. "Cara Preston does have a heart condition, so we need to be careful. However, if her condition is serious, she really should be recuperating at home."

"I want to study," Cara Preston said softly. "I want to take the college entrance exams!"

Rona Langdon immediately said with a proud look, "Cara has always been ambitious. If Vera Xavier hadn’t been causing trouble this whole time, she would have been number one in the school long ago! And even though Vera is also my daughter, I have to say, she grew up in the countryside and picked up a bunch of bad habits. She’s vicious, too. You all need to be on guard against her. Don’t be fooled by her good grades now—I bet she cheated! Also, and this is crucial, don’t let her get too close to Cara! She might hurt her!"

Juliana Taylor thought of the modest and polite Vera Xavier, then of the trouble-stirring Cara Preston, and could only scoff internally. ’Heh.’ She had also heard many stories about Rona Langdon and felt that arguing with such a person was beneath her dignity as a teacher. So, she didn’t bother to say anything more.

Once again considering his relationship with Zachary Preston, Principal Gage patiently placated Rona Langdon and convinced her to walk Cara Preston to her classroom.

The moment they left, Juliana Taylor couldn’t hold it in any longer. "How can any mother act like that? What a piece of work!"

Principal Gage consoled her, "The exams are in just five days. It’ll all be over once they’re finished."

Suppressing her anger, Juliana Taylor said, "You’re right. It’ll be over after the exams. I’ll endure it."

Rona Langdon felt quite smug, thinking she had successfully intimidated Juliana Taylor on Cara Preston’s behalf. As she brought Cara to the classroom door, she didn’t forget to shoot Vera Xavier a vicious glare.

After glaring, she realized something was wrong. ’Why is Vera Xavier sitting in the best seat in the front row, while Cara Preston is stuck in a seat near the back?’ She pointed a finger directly at Vera and ordered, "You, switch seats with Cara!"

It was currently break time, and all the students were watching her with curiosity.

Vera Xavier didn’t even spare Rona Langdon a glance, continuing with what she was doing. ’After all, there’s no point arguing with a moron.’

Seeing that she was being ignored, Rona Langdon felt completely humiliated. It was a slap in the face. She rushed over and grabbed Vera Xavier’s clothes. "Get to the back, now!"

Vera Xavier’s brow furrowed, and she was just about to teach Rona Langdon a lesson.

But unexpectedly, Shane Caldwell, who was sitting next to her, suddenly shot up and threw a punch right into Rona Langdon’s face!

P.S. My novel is getting review-bombed with low ratings again. Writing isn’t easy, you know! If you don’t like the story, lovelies, you can just click the ’X’ and leave! I’d rather believe the readers giving low scores just have slippery fingers or are jealous of my stunning good looks, not that they’re actually narrow-minded people! For all you dears who genuinely love this story, please give it a five-star rating, ’kay? A million thanks! And while I’m at it, please send some votes my way!
