Ivy Aretha took a cab to pick up Bianca Aretha from kindergarten, then took another taxi home. To their surprise, as soon as they got out of the car, they heard a familiar voice from behind.

“Ivy?!”

Upon hearing this, Ivy turned around and saw Zach Gilbert getting out of the fancy car. He casually closed the door and leaned against it, staring at her intently, as if it was expected.

“Mommy, who is that?!” Bianca was having a lively conversation with Ivy. The sudden appearance of Zach startled her, and she let out a high-pitched scream.

Ivy instinctively held Bianca in her arms, her initially calm mood now on edge. She’d been hiding all this time, only to still be tracked down by him – this man was truly outrageous!

“Zach, as a married man, how dare you creepily stalk my daughter and me? Could you be any more perverted?” Ivy glared at him fiercely, accusing him without holding back.

Stalking? Yes, that was what he was doing. He didn’t argue and instead focused all his attention on Bianca’s chubby, doll-like face.

“Is this child the result of when you got raped while trying to save someone?”

Years back, Ivy had tried to save a drunk man who was running recklessly only to find out later that the man wasn’t drunk but drugged. The result of her good intentions? She ended up the victim.

Six years ago, this incident led to their breakup. At the time, Zach was indeed driven mad, so he did something he would regret for the rest of his life!

Zach thought Ivy would deny it since admitting to it would certainly hurt the child. That’s why he’d dared to ask, expecting her denial.

“Yes, I was raped while I tried to save someone, and that’s how I got pregnant with this child. What about it?”

Zach was instantly stunned by Ivy’s words, standing up straight in disbelief. His gaze fell on Bianca’s little face that bore a striking resemblance to Ivy.

The little one seemed completely unaffected, blinking her big black eyes and staring at him intently before finally asking, “Mommy, is this the man you were talking about who dumped you for me?” Zach: “…”

Zach’s mind went blank as he was hit by lightning metaphorically. He was lost for words. Not only Ivy’s reactions but also the attitude of this little child surprised him greatly. Was this truly just a child?

Ivy corrected her daughter with a kiss on her cheeks, saying, “Baby, you got it wrong. It’s not that I dumped him; he was the one who cheated.”

“Oh, right. My bad, Mommy!” Bianca realized her mistake, “Mommy, don’t worry. Since you were even dumped by a man for my sake, I’ll surely find you a dependable boyfriend!”

Bianca said that in all seriousness, looking just like a mini grown-up. If it weren’t for seeing it with his own eyes, Zach wouldn’t have believed that a child like this could exist.

“Ivy, I was wrong back then, but I regret it!”

Back then, when he heard Ivy telling him she had been raped while trying to save an unrelated man, he couldn’t stay calm. They had been dating for two years, during which they had merely held hands, and they hadn’t even kissed. And now, what should have belonged to him had been taken by a stranger. Any man would have been devastated.

Moreover, he had been a virgin throughout. When Ivy told him about the incident, he almost strangled her in his fit of rage.

In his fury, he said cruel words and even talked about breaking up. But he had regretted it the next day. He just couldn’t bring himself to face her because of his pride.

To his astonishment, even after this happened, Ivy didn’t bow down to him and apologize. She had no problem breaking up for real and never even bothered to apologize. Had she done so, they wouldn’t have parted ways.

For over a month, he’d waited for Ivy to beg for reconciliation. In the end, he went to find her because he loved her too much. Even after he had belittled and insulted her and mentioned breaking up, he couldn’t help but surrender to time.

On the twenty-eighth day, he couldn’t resist looking for Ivy to try and reconcile. But it was as if Ivy had evaporated, completely vanishing from his life.

Now, as they met again six years later, he was married, and she had a child. It was like they were worlds apart.

Regret it?

Ivy looked at him coldly and sneered, “I don’t regret a thing. I’m actually grateful that you dumped me back then. If not, how could I have such a lovely child?”

If Zach had shown sympathy for her situation at the time and stood by her in her most difficult days, then after finding out about her pregnancy, she might have considered not keeping the child.

“Mommy, if this scumbag uncle hadn’t cheated on you back then, would you have aborted me?” Bella asked, saddened by the thought.

“Baby, that might’ve been a possibility.” Ivy didn’t treat her daughter like a child at all. “After all, you weren’t as cute when you were in my belly!”

Mother and daughter bantered back and forth, laughing and completely ignoring Zach’s presence, as if he were invisible. After, Ivy carried Bella upstairs.

“Zach, you’re married, and I’m now a mother. We should avoid situations like today’s encounter, or any form of stalking – intentional or not. My world consists of my daughter now, so please don’t bother me anymore!”

This wasn’t Ivy being narcissistic. Zach’s eyes, attitude, and actions clearly indicated he wanted to rekindle their relationship, and she had no choice but to refuse outright.
