Chapter 404: 404: Even A Dread Beast?

The changes to the demon dog was not drastic or shell shocking, it was somewhat similar to the changes the gnawers experienced after they were enslaved.

The demon dog was no longer red but black, it became about 75% bigger, its body became less ethereal and became more solid, and it radiated a more powerful Will.

There were some little other changes to its appearance, but those changes were minor and not important.

A few minutes later, the transformation of the demon dog stopped and Simon looked at the transformed demon dog with curiosity and interest.

The demon dog stood to its full height, and when Simon stood close to it, its face was nearly at the same height as his own face.

"Sit." Simon said, and the dog immediately obeyed.

It wagged its tail and looked at Simon with the eyes of a dog who respected its master.

The dog had its own will, and Simon could not help but narrow his eyes with a thoughtful expression when he saw this.

"So it also works for Dire Beasts. Hmm."

"... And your eyes are also dead but have life at the same time... How strange."

He stroked his chin as he said this, then he waved his hand.

"Go. Do whatever you want."

Woof Woof

The demon dog barked, then it looked around, and when it saw the gnawers, its eyes lit up and it ran toward them.

The rats were all playing, but when they heard the sound of the demon dog approaching them, they all looked up, turned, and looked at the demon dog.

They squeaked and scurried away, and the demon dog barked playfully as it chased after them.

Simon looked at this scene with a slight raise of his brow, and to his surprise, he found it somewhat... entertaining and peaceful to watch.

This sort of peace and entertainment was something he couldn’t remember having in this second life of his, and it felt strange to him as he felt this way.

As he watched the demon dog playfully chase after the rats, trying to catch as many rats as possible while holding them with his mouth like they were its pups, he could not help but smile.

"Not bad I guess."

He closed his eyes, then he vanished from his sea of consciousness and appeared in the real world.

The first thing he did was to look at the abyssal grass cutter to make sure that it was still in its cage.

Out of all the beasts he bought, the abyssal grass cutter was the strangest because it was too quite and rarely made a sound.

When he saw that the abyssal grass cutter was still in its cage, he nodded.

He then shifted his gaze to the corpse of demon dog, then he shook his head slightly and got to his feet.

He approached the cage of the abyssal grass cutter, and as he approached it, his eyes flashed with a black light and the broken black ring around his pupils rotated.

He opened the cage, and the moment he did, his eyes flickered as the abyssal grass cutter instantly attacked him the moment he opened the cage.

’Quite fast.’

Simon watched as the blades of the abyssal grass cutter came down at his skull from above.

He calmly took a step to the side, dodging the attack, but the mantis did not relent and it continued attacking Simon like it was the wind.

Its movement were very fast, sharp, and precise, but it could not touch Simon.

Not only was Simon stronger than it, the mantis was utilizing the wind element to be as fast as possible.

However, how could it have a better wind affinity than Simon who had the bloodline of the Sky Tiger- a Daemon Beast who was regarded as one of the rulers of the sky?

Even though the mantis was equivalent to an Archfiend and could control its chaos, it was not enough to defeat Simon.

Simon calmly dodged the attacks of the mantis, and the floors and floors of his room became filled with cuts from the mantis’ blades.

"I think I’ve seen enough." He said as he dodged an upward swing of the mantis.

He took several steps back after dodging the attack and was about to continue his attack, but to his surprise, the wings of the abyssal grass cutter suddenly expanded and fluttered with a buzz.

In the blink of an eye, the mantis appeared in front of him and swung its blades at Simon’s head.

Simon’s eyes widened slightly, and he grabbed one of the blades and tried to dodge the second blade.

However, he was too late.

Cut!

Rip!

A deep cut appeared on his left shoulder down to his stomach.

His robes were ruined and blood spilled on the floor.

Simon wobbled slightly, then he looked at the cut while still holding one of the blades of the abyssal grass cutter.

His palm was cut and blood fell on the floor from it.

"Not bad, mantis. Not bad." He nodded a few times, and to the bafflement of the mantis, Simon’s figure began to dissipate like mist.

Before it could comprehend what was going on, a loud crack echoed in the room, and the vision of the mantis twisted before going dark.

Thud

The abyssal grass cutter fell after Simon indifferently let go of its head.

The broken black ring around his pupils rotated once again as he deactivated Hollow Sky Eye.

He could have fought the abyssal grass cutter without using Hollow Sky Eye, but one of them would have bled, and it would not have been him.

He didn’t want his floor to be stained with blood.

He crouched before the corpse of the abyssal grass cutter, then ethereal black chains shot out of his forehead and it entered the corpse of the mantis.

A few seconds later, he felt the chains coil around the Will of the abyssal grass cutter, then he pulled it out.

This time around, he felt a little bit of resistance, but it was all futile.

With a little bit of effort, he pulled out the Will of the abyssal grass cutter and dragged it into his sea of consciousness.

When he entered his sea of consciousness, he narrowed his eyes as he saw the exact same scene.

The abyssal grass cutter was bowing down and trembling on the surface of his sea of consciousness.

"Even a Dread Beast is so fearful this easily?"
