The 1970s: Married First, Fell in Love Later
Chapter 262 - 261: Released
"Yes, Grandpa’s listening. What’s going on?"
Qin Haize said to his grandpa on the phone, "Grandpa, Xiao Luoluo and I need your help with something. I’ll let Uncle Xiao Mo explain."
With that, he handed the phone to the guard beside him.
"Hello, Commander. This is Mo Yuanshan..."
After listening, Qin Honghai barely hesitated. "In that case, make a trip to the police station and find out the truth. If someone is really abusing their power to bully others, then step in and help."
"Yes, Commander."
"Give the phone to Xiao Hao. I want to talk to him."
Qin Haize took the phone back from the guard.
"Grandpa."
"Xiao Hao, Grandpa has already given instructions to your Uncle Xiao Mo. Don’t worry, he’ll handle it."
"Thanks, Grandpa."
Ruanruan also said from her side, "Thank you, Grandpa Qin."
Qin Honghai’s laughter came from the other end of the line. "HAHAHA, little Miss Luoluo, you should come visit Grandpa with Xiao Hao again when you have time."
"Okay, Grandpa Qin."
After they hung up, the guard said to Qin Haize, "I have to go to the police station. You stay here and don’t wander off. I’ll be back soon."
Qin Haize nodded. "I know, Uncle Xiao Mo. I won’t go out."
Ruanruan also chimed in with a promise, "Don’t worry, Uncle Xiao Mo. We’ll stay home. I’ll keep an eye on Qin Haize."
The guard was still worried. He went out and spoke to Mrs. He, asking her to watch Qin Haize and not let him run off.
Although Mrs. He thought he was overreacting, she agreed to watch the boy since he had asked.
The guard bowed his head slightly to Mrs. He. "Sorry to trouble you."
He left after saying that.
Over at the hospital, Xue Yue and He Lang arrived at the patient’s room.
The other party saw them come in and just snorted coldly. Only the old lady on the hospital bed started whimpering about her head hurting when she saw them enter.
Xue Yue had expected this, based on what He Lang had told her before they came.
But before she could even speak, the man across from them cut her off.
"Heh! Regretting it now? You look all prim and proper, a big boss even, but is this little bit of money worth two trips? Just pay up and this all goes away. I know why you’re here again, but this is non-negotiable. Fifty thousand, not a cent less. And that’s me being generous. If you come back in another two days—no, tomorrow—the price will be different."
Hearing this, Xue Yue gritted her back teeth. ’This family is just too outrageous. There’s no way to negotiate with them.’
He Lang hadn’t wanted her to come in the first place, but Xue Yue wouldn’t give up. ’She never imagined she had underestimated the wickedness of people’s hearts so much.’
Leaving the hospital room, they went to the doctor’s office to ask about Wu Ermei’s condition.
"Besides high blood lipids, the patient also has high cholesterol, but that’s all related to her usual diet, not something that develops quickly. Everything else is fine."
Xue Yue asked, "What about her claims of a headache?"
The doctor shook his head. "We did a head scan and found nothing abnormal. However, the patient keeps complaining of a headache. It could be neuropathic pain, but the specific cause is unclear for now. Of course, it could also be due to other reasons."
"So you’re saying it’s impossible for a simple touch from someone to cause a headache, right?"
The doctor nodded. "Of course."
"Then could you provide us with a written report?"
The doctor glanced at them, understood immediately, and without another word, wrote out Wu Ermei’s physical examination report for Xue Yue.
Normally, a doctor would only issue such a report at the request of a superior or the patient’s family. But over the last two days, the doctor had likely figured out what was going on.
The patient kept delaying her discharge, and she was bossy and arrogant even toward the doctors and nurses who went in to see her. The young nurses had complained out of frustration many times.
The doctor couldn’t stand it either, so he wrote the report for Xue Yue.
They left the hospital with Wu Ermei’s medical report in hand.
Xue Yue said to He Lang, "It looks like we can’t settle this. We’ll have to file an appeal."
He Lang nodded. "Then we’ll appeal. At least we’re in the right."
Thinking of the person backing them, Xue Yue was still worried.
"Should we go back to the police station and try to find that director?"
He Lang’s lips twitched. "No need. They’re all cut from the same cloth."
Thinking of Xue Xingjun, who was still inside, she worried, ’I wonder how Xing Jun is doing in there? They wouldn’t beat him, would they?’
"Big Brother went yesterday. They probably won’t."
Xue Yue was a bit dazed. "That’s good. That’s good."
To their surprise, when they got home, they saw that Xue Xingjun had already returned.
"Sis, Brother-in-law, you’re back."
"Xing Jun?"
Xue Yue walked over quickly and grabbed Xue Xingjun’s arm.
"How are you back?"
Xue Xingjun turned his head to look at the guard.
"He brought me back."
He was still shaken. Thinking back to how the people at the police station had treated this man, he realized his identity was anything but simple.
He had seen this guard with the child at Xue Yue’s place before; they were practically inseparable. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, assuming he was just a bodyguard for some rich kid. He never imagined the man was connected to officials.
Xue Yue followed his gaze and saw the guard standing behind Qin Haize.
Just then, Ruanruan ran over and grabbed Xue Yue’s hand.
"Mom, Grandpa Qin had Uncle Xiao Mo rescue Little Uncle."
Xue Yue was surprised. "How did Grandpa Qin know?"
"Qin Haize and I called him."
Xue Yue and He Lang exchanged a look.
He Lang said to Mo Yuanshan, "Thank you. We didn’t expect this matter to trouble Commander Qin. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience."
Mo Yuanshan’s expression was impassive. "I was just following orders. You don’t need to go to the hospital anymore. The police will handle it."
Qin Haize said to Xue Yue, "Auntie, you don’t have to thank us. Xiao Luoluo’s little uncle is my little uncle. If anyone dares to bully you again, just tell me, and I’ll have Uncle Xiao Mo beat him to death."
Xue Yue was speechless... ’It doesn’t have to be to the death...’ Still, the problem that had been troubling them so much was solved by two kids with a single phone call. Xue Yue felt a bit stunned.
Since Xue Xingjun was out, Xue Yue gave Xue Xingzhou a call.
Xue Xingzhou said, "I already know. Director Cheng from the police station just called the Public Security Bureau. He was apologizing profusely and trying to make amends. He also sneakily tried to probe our relationship with Commander Qin. From the sound of it, he’s planning to formally apologize to you all as well."
Xue Yue marveled at how quickly he had acted.
"Xing Jun has been released. Does that mean we just let this go?"
Xue Xingzhou said over the phone, "There’s no letting this go. I’ve already submitted the appeal documents. Have Xing Jun stay home for the next few days and wait to be summoned."
"Okay, I understand."
