Sherman was checking the inventory list when he suddenly heard the piercing sound of war horns.

An alert of enemy attack!

Sherman frowned, put away the list, and rushed out the door.

He hadn’t gone far when he ran into a wizard apprentice approaching hurriedly, led by none other than Attila.

"Who’s attacking the city?" Sherman asked.

Attila immediately replied, "Dark Elves!"

Sherman was not surprised upon hearing this.

The tribes and monsters surrounding Tarren City had been largely cleared out, leaving only the Dark Elves further ahead as the enemy.

The only ones likely to attack Tarren City at this time would indeed be the Dark Elves.

When Sherman and Attila reached the city wall, the battle had already commenced.

Tarren City was located in a huge cavern, backed by stone walls on one side and surrounded by city walls on the other three.

The Dark Elves were attacking from the south.

Ogres, Bear Goblins, Kobolds, and Lizardmen clad in armor surged forward like a tide, using telescopic ladders to climb and attack the walls, and bearing down on the gates with battering rams. In the rear, the elite Minotaur troops waited, yet few Dark Elves were seen.

The outer fortresses had all been occupied, with massive trebuchets erected, launching huge stone projectiles at the city walls.

If it were the former Tarren City, facing such a ferocious offensive would likely leave it unprepared.

But the golems, devoid of emotion, knew neither fear nor panic, calmly guarding the walls and swinging iron fists to annihilate the invaders.

A rustling sound arose as Dual-bladed Spiders skirted the city walls from both sides, raising their sharp forelimbs and charging into the enemy ranks, easily tearing open their defenses and causing a retreat.

Standing on the wall, Sherman watched the scene calmly.

During this time, the Star Alliance had captured many natives fleeing from Dark Elf territory, extracting valuable intelligence from them.

This included the warfare style of the Dark Elves.

Among the cannon fodder of the Dark Elves, only the Minotaurs were the true main force, valiant and fierce, far more elite than the likes of Bear Goblins and Kobolds.

With the offensive thwarted, the Ogres, Bear Goblins, and Kobolds began to retreat, and then the long war horns sounded, as fully armed Minotaurs surged forward from the rear, charging at the Dual-bladed Spiders.

Seeing this, Sherman decisively ordered the gates to be opened.

Compared to city defense, the Golem Legion could undoubtedly perform better in open field battles.

The gates opened, and the tall and robust golems rushed out, moving past the Dual-bladed Spiders to the front lines, forming a steady iron wall that remained unmoved by the fierce attacks from the Minotaurs.

Seizing the opportunity, two elite Steel Golems slowly advanced, a glow flashing on their chests, unleashing a visible distortion like a cannonball into the Minotaur ranks.

The two elite Steel Golems continued their actions, casting one spell after another, taking down hundreds of Minotaurs in the blink of an eye.

Brave as the Minotaurs were, facing such terrifying attacks, they began to fear and retreat.

Just then, a massive spider illusion suddenly flashed in the distant sky, followed by squads of Lizard Cavalry pouring out from the fortress, their riders wearing exquisite chainmail without helmets, revealing silver-white long hair and obsidian-like faces, wielding long spears.

They finally showed up!

This was the true elite force of the Dark Elves, the previous ones were nothing but cannon fodder.

The Lizard Cavalry began to charge with great speed, soon rushing into the Golem Legion, their cold halberds and frosty blades flashing, slicing the Stone Golems into pieces.

Watching this scene, Sherman’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"As reported, these Lizard Cavalry are indeed powerful," Attila observed the battle below critically. "Each holds knight-level power, no less than the Black Rock Cavalry Legion of the Star Empire."

The addition of the Lizard Cavalry immediately shifted the situation, plunging both sides back into chaos.

Sherman and Attila watched the situation below with calm expressions, not in a hurry.

For the Star Alliance, golems were merely expendables.

But for Magic Spider City, with limited troops, every Lizard Knight was a valuable asset, losing one would be painful.

In such a war of attrition, it was not they who should be anxious.

As expected, soon horns sounded from the front.

The Lizard Knights retreated like a tidal wave.

The Golem Legion was about to give chase when a shadow suddenly darted out from above, gliding eerily through more than a dozen golems.

Suddenly there was the sound of cracks, and over a dozen golems turned into rubble, scattering onto the ground almost simultaneously.

Amidst the rubble, a half-human, half-spider figure stood straight.

Its upper body was a beautiful Dark Elf female, clad in snug and elegant chainmail, showcasing mesmerizing curves, wielding two gleaming scimitars.

The lower body was an enormous black spider body, radiating a cold metallic sheen under the fluorescence, with eight legs appearing sharper than the Dual-bladed Spiders.

"Spider-Elf!"

There was an added seriousness on Sherman’s face.

This was the formidable adversary they truly had to face.

Upon seeing it firsthand, Sherman realized the Spider-Elf was even more formidable than the intelligence described.

Among the previously ambushed and slain, there was an elite Steel Golem.
