Synthetic Wizard
Chapter 302 - 190: Marriage Alliance and Prospects
After all, being newcomers, they didn’t dare make the senior students wait too long. In less than fifteen minutes, the new students returned to the dormitory entrance.
The group then headed to the cafeteria.
"The academy has two cafeterias, one to the north and one to the west. We’re heading to the second cafeteria in the west."
The second cafeteria was enormous, visible from a distance.
Upon getting closer, they noticed a bulletin board at the cafeteria entrance displaying today’s recommended dishes.
[Today’s special from the underground world: Crystal Mushrooms, which slightly boost Spiritual Activity Level, priced at twenty Gold Coins per serving.]
[Today’s special from Zone 1: Electric Thorn Dragon Meat, which slightly enhances physique, priced at twelve Gold Coins per serving.]
[Today’s special from the underground world: Ice Rainbow Fish, which slightly increases Ice Element resistance, priced at thirty Contribution Points per serving, available only to second-level Wizard Apprentices and above.]
...
One piece of information after another filled the bulletin board.
A group of apprentices gathered in front of the bulletin board, seemingly discussing something, and faint complaints about the high prices could be heard.
"The food in the cafeteria requires money to purchase, with prices ranging from low to high. The recommended dishes on the bulletin board are the most expensive ones. Even we can only afford them occasionally."
Winnie explained to the newcomers:
Though they are expensive, most recommended dishes are worth the price. Often, if you go late, you might not get any, and some foods require a certain level to purchase."
The newbies were also dumbfounded by the prices on the bulletin board.
Most of them came from noble families, with affluent backgrounds, but even so, they had never eaten a dish that cost ten to twenty Gold Coins.
The prices seemed no different from daylight robbery!
Winnie observed the expressions on the newcomers’ faces, smiled but said nothing.
Once they tasted the flavors and effects of those foods, they would realize the Gold Coins spent were worth it.
Upon entering the second cafeteria, they found multiple sections within, each with a different style offering an array of exotic foods.
The new students found a place to sit, and soon, several staff members came over to take their orders.
To the surprise of the newcomers, these staff members weren’t human but rather a peculiar feminine humanoid species.
They had lustrous, bronze-colored hair, skin smooth like cream, and faces so perfect they seemed to have stepped out of a painting.
Their deep eyes were large and round, with long ears curling back, giving off a hint of an elfin appearance.
They stood about a meter tall, slightly taller than halflings.
"These are Water Faeries, staff of the cafeteria." Winnie introduced, "They are gentle in nature, love cleanliness, and can control Water Elemental power."
"Why have I never heard of such creatures before?" a newcomer asked puzzledly.
"That’s normal." Winnie smiled, "Water Faeries are Otherworldly Creatures that don’t exist on the continent, so of course, you’ve never seen them."
"They were summoned from another world by the academy and have signed a contract to serve the academy in exchange for remuneration."
The appearance of the Water Faeries seemed to flick a switch, and the newcomers began bombarding Winnie with various questions.
Winnie patiently answered each one, while Sheerin sat silently beside her.
Soon after, the Water Faeries returned with plates.
A particularly beautiful Water Fairy placed a plate in front of Fleming and gave him a sweet smile as she left.
Fleming’s heartbeat involuntarily quickened, and he couldn’t help but glance back at the Water Fairy’s retreating figure.
Previously, he thought the pretty neighbor’s sister next door was very beautiful and once considered marrying her when he grew up, but now he suddenly felt that Water Faeries were also quite appealing.
After a lively meal, Sheerin and Winnie led the newcomers to the logistics office to collect academy maps, rule books, exchange lists, books, robes, and brooches, among other supplies.
"The brooches are your student ID. You need to wear the brooch to enter many places, so keep them safe. Losing one will cost you to replace it."
After giving the last bit of advice, Winnie and Sheerin left.
The new students, holding their supplies, returned to the dormitory in small groups.
The dormitories consisted of single rooms, complete with living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms, all furnished with new furniture and offering excellent living conditions.
The newcomers, having just witnessed many novel things at Starlight Academy, were visibly excited and gathered in the corridor to chat and exchange ideas.
After all, they were just teenagers, maturing physically but still somewhat naive mentally.
Fleming didn’t join in and went straight back to his own dormitory.
Just after putting his things down, Donohue came over to visit.
"Fleming, what courses are you planning to register for tomorrow?"
Fleming had already decided and replied without hesitation, "All of them! I want to register for all the basic courses!"
Donohue’s mouth slightly twitched: "Do you need to be that intense?"
Fleming shrugged and asked, "What about you? Which courses are you registering for?"
Donohue sighed, "Since you put it that way, what else can I do? I’m signing up for all of them too; I don’t want you to surpass me."
Fleming smiled, patted his shoulder, and said, "Let’s work hard together!"
Having entered Starlight Academy with difficulty, Fleming cherished this opportunity immensely.
Even if there were no threat of expulsion behind him, he would still give it his all.
After all, this was his only chance to transcend the ordinary!
Who wouldn’t want to live longer to witness the pinnacle scenery of the continent?
