Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop

Chapter 82: The Golden Legend (Part 3)

He waited for everyone's emotions to settle a bit before speaking again:

"Alright, let's get down to business."

Everyone immediately quieted down, their gazes converging on him.

"Everyone is exhausted from today's battle. However, we cannot slack off over the next four days."

He looked at Zhao Hu and Shadow Snake:

"Over at Bone Eagle Cliff, although the Bone Eagle King and Silverwing are dead, there are still many remaining Bone Eagles."

Zhao Hu nodded. "Don't worry, Lord. Old Zhao's hands have been itching for a fight these past few days!"

"Starting tomorrow, Zhao Hu and Shadow Snake will continue leading men to Bone Eagle Cliff to clear out the remaining Bone Eagles. Try to push your levels up a bit more within these four days."

Lin Feng continued, "Tie Dun, Wang Wu, Arrow Eye, and Su Yurou, you all go together as well. Those with injuries should recover first; once you're healed, join in."

He paused and looked at the seven silent Beacon Guards outside the hall:

"The Beacon Guards have lost three members. The remaining seven will rest for now and rejoin the unit once their wounds have healed."

"And what about you, Lord?" Tie Dun asked. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Lin Feng shook his head slightly. "I'll be staying at the camp for the next few days to handle some matters. The settlement of the new refugees and the arrival of the people from Xiaoyao Stronghold, which should be in a day or two, both need to be overseen."

Everyone nodded in understanding.

Lin Feng stood up, his gaze sweeping across everyone:

"That's all for today. Go back and rest, heal up, and do what needs to be done tomorrow."

He walked to a corner of the hall, stopped before the three stretchers, and remained silent for a moment.

Then, he turned and said to Uncle Wu, who was waiting outside the hall:

"Tomorrow, find a good spot on the Sunny Slope behind the village and give them a proper burial."

"Yes, Lord," Uncle Wu replied with a bow.

The night was deep.

One by one, everyone dispersed and returned to their respective quarters.

Shadow Snake reached the door, suddenly stopped, and glanced back at Lin Feng.

She didn't say a word, just watched him quietly for two seconds before turning and vanishing into the night.

The candlelight in the Council Hall remained lit for a very long time.

Early the next morning, the first glimmer of dark red dawn appeared on the horizon.

Zhao Hu, Shadow Snake, Tie Dun, Wang Wu, Arrow Eye, and Su Yurou—the six of them—had finished assembling at the West Gate.

Zhao Hu carried the bone-crushing greatsword on his shoulder with the guardian round shield slung across his back, his eyes burning with fighting spirit. After a night of rest, his injuries were no longer a major concern.

Shadow Snake stood in the shadows at the edge of the group, the deep blue fang tucked behind her waist. Her aura was even more elusive and restrained than yesterday.

Since her class change, her overall presence seemed to have diminished; if one didn't look for her intentionally, her existence might almost be overlooked.

Tie Dun shouldered the ironwall greatshield and grinned. "Those little brats at Bone Eagle Cliff, just wait for your grandpa to come and sort you out!"

Wang Wu held a Black Iron Longbow, the bandages on his hands already removed to reveal scabbed-over wounds.

He had changed classes to a Windchaser Archer last night, and his entire temperament now seemed significantly sharper.

Arrow Eye carried the wind-chasing hunting bow on his back and stood beside Wang Wu. The two Windchaser Archers, one old and one young, shared a smile.

Su Yurou held a pale green short staff and stood in the middle of the group. Her mana had fully recovered, and her face showed a bit more composure.

"Move out," Zhao Hu commanded. Six figures crossed the drawbridge and disappeared into the morning mist leading south.

On the second floor of the Council Hall, Lin Feng stood by the window, watching them depart.

The people from Xiaoyao Stronghold should be arriving today as well.

He clenched his fists, feeling the surging power within his body and the Wildfire Spear, his Natal Divine Weapon, slung across his back.

Over the next four days, he intended to take Beacon Fire Village to the next level.

He then glanced at his attribute panel.

【Level: 14】

【HP: 1260/1260】

【Strength: 25.2】 (Base 14 + 50% General's Majesty bonus + 30%)

【Constitution: 11】

【Agility: 19.2】 (windchaser boots +3, can stack up to 24.2 during combat)

Added to that were the Heroic Template skills 【Desperate Beacon】, 【Heroic Body】, and 【Mental Fortress】, as well as the newly acquired 【rock-solid chestplate】 and 【windchaser boots】.

The corners of Lin Feng's mouth slowly curled into a slight arc.

Four days later.

Level 2 Nightmare Tide.

If it was still of the same intensity as the Black Wolf Den—over two hundred Skeleton Soldiers, plus two Level 11 Centurions, and one Level 15 Commander of Five Hundred.

He couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head.

"Now, I alone could slaughter my way through a Nightmare Tide of that level."

It wasn't arrogance.

It was a fact.

With 25.2 Strength and the 45 attack power of the Wildfire Spear, a single thrust would deal nearly 170 base damage.

Combined with the area-of-effect clearing and damage-increasing marks of 【Beacon Fire Prairies】, the long-range sniping of 【Blazing Spear Light】, and the mobility and control provided by 【windchaser boots】.

Those Level 11 Skeleton Centurions wouldn't last three strikes against him.

As for a Level 15 Skeleton Five Hundred Lord—like the one that could have wiped them out that night at the Black Wolf Den—he was now 100% certain he could kill it in a few rounds in a head-on duel.

As for those ordinary Skeleton Soldiers?

He could take them down with one strike each, without even needing to aim.

With one sweep of his spear, hardly any bone fragments would remain.

Not to mention his trump card for turning the tables while locking his health: 【Desperate Beacon】.

"Level 2 Nightmare Tide..." Lin Feng murmured softly, a burning light igniting in his eyes that was entirely different from the morning light outside.

"No matter how many come, I'll take them all down."

He clenched his fists, feeling the power within him surging like a tsunami—power earned by living on the edge of a blade and crawling out from piles of corpses.

Those few days at Bone Eagle Cliff were worth it.

But soon, his thoughts drifted from the battle four days away to something further.

Eye of Probability.

The talent that had been with him since the first day of his awakening.

The one that allowed him to obtain the golden legend 【Beginner General Job Change Book】 from a dying Shadow Rabbit.

A Golden Legend class... he had only seen people speculating about it on forums before, saying things like "it theoretically might exist," but in the decades of the Nightmare World, no one had ever truly seen one.

What was even stranger was that when others changed classes to a General, the book they received simply said "General Class Change Book," which was just an ordinary class.

Yet the one in his hand had the word "Beginner" added to it. At the time, he thought they were the same thing, but he later realized they were completely different.

Furthermore, no matter how low the drop rate of the 【Beginner General Job Change Book】 was—even if it were one in a hundred thousand—someone should have obtained it eventually.

But for decades, there had been no public records, no traces at all—only speculation.

Either those who obtained it kept it hidden, or... there was another reason behind it.

The last time he used the Eye of Probability was when he killed the Great Qin Garrison Soldiers and designated the drop as a 【Special Village Establishment Order】.

Today, in Nightmare World time... ten days had passed since the day he obtained the Village Establishment Order (and a day and a half had passed on Blue Star).

Twenty days left until the refresh.

Twenty days from now, what should he choose for the next designated drop?

He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "There's too little information."

What was taught in class was all basic knowledge. Truly rare items and top-tier gear were never mentioned in textbooks because there was no point; their drop rates were so low that an ordinary person would never see them in their entire life.

Eye of Probability—a designated drop once a month. As long as the original probability wasn't zero, he could obtain the desired item with one hundred percent certainty.

This ability was powerful enough to almost defy heaven. However, after using it once, he discovered a fatal limitation: he could only see the drop rate of an item, not its quality.

A low drop rate didn't necessarily mean high quality.

The drop rate for purple-quality items from low-level monsters could also be as low as one in a million.

But the value of a one-in-a-million purple item and a one-in-a-million Village Establishment Order was worlds apart.

"I need to go back to Blue Star."

"I'll have Lin Xiaoyu help ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) me look it up. The internal database of the Nightmare Administration Bureau must have a list of the rarest items in Great Xia with the lowest drop rates and highest quality."

"This kind of information might not even be obtainable in the Nightmare World by risking one's life, but on Blue Star, it might just be a matter of a single database query."
