Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop

Chapter 261: The Shadow Council

The walls of the great hall were twenty meters high, and in the center stood a ten-meter-tall black stone door, blocking the path.

The door was not a standard rectangle but a pointed arch with lines as sharp as a blade, a classic assassin style.

An emblem was carved into the lintel: a dagger piercing a crescent moon, with three drops of blood dripping from the blade's edge, the trajectory of the drops forming an inverted triangle.

The carvings of the emblem were deep, casting heavy shadows under the silvery-white light, looking as if someone had slashed three wounds into the door.

On either side of the stone door stood an assassin statue.

They were much larger than those on the plaza's stone pillars, reaching five meters in height, and were also kneeling on one knee.

However, their posture was more humble, their heads bowed deeper, and their twin blades crossed over their chests, as if they were saluting the person—or thing—behind the door.

"This door... just looking at it makes me not want to go in."

Tie Dun muttered, holding his shield in front of him, his eyes warily fixed on the two statues.

Feng Qingyan leaned toward Jiang Zhaoyue and lowered her voice: "Sister Jiang, do you feel like those statues' eyes are moving?"

Jiang Zhaoyue did not answer.

She closed her eyes, and the silver moon emblem on her forehead lit up as she scanned the area ahead.

After a moment, she opened her eyes, her brow furrowed: "There are no life reactions inside the statues."

Lin Feng's gaze shifted from the stone door to the shadows surrounding the plaza.

Those shadows weren't particularly thick under the illumination of the magic lamps, but their edges were blurred, as if something was moving slowly within them.

With a slight thought, he used the Eye of Probability to scan the nearest shadow.

The information fed back was vague—LV28, Shadow Assassin, Agility-type.

Lin Feng's brow furrowed. "Let's retreat for now."

His voice wasn't loud, but his tone brooked no argument.

The group didn't ask many questions and followed him back to the fourth floor.

The light curtain closed behind them, isolating the silvery-white plaza on the other side.

Tie Dun breathed a sigh of relief and lowered his shield: "Lord, what's wrong? Was there something off about that plaza?"

Lin Feng sat down against a rock, his gaze sweeping over everyone as he spoke slowly: "The BOSS of the fifth floor should be an Agility-type. Its Agility has surpassed sixty at least, and it has the Flight effect."

"Flight?" Tie Dun was stunned for a moment. "You mean it can fly in the sky?"

"Correct." Lin Feng nodded. "Flight is the awakening effect for sixty Agility."

"It can move freely in the air, with high speed, high evasion, and tricky attacks."

"With our current setup, dealing with such an enemy is too troublesome. If it takes to the air and starts kiting us, we won't even be able to touch the hem of its clothes."

Everyone fell silent. Feng Qingyan gripped her staff, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something but didn't.

Although she was a long-range mage, against an assassin-type BOSS moving at high speeds in the air, whether her Flame Burst could even hit was a question.

"This exploration ends here."

Lin Feng stood up and took out two pieces of purple bone materials from his robe.

The first piece was surrounded by a cold, dark purple aura, its surface swirling with a dim luster as if countless restless souls were wailing inside.

"Lord Jiang." Lin Feng handed that piece of bone to Jiang Zhaoyue. "Your help was crucial in conquering the first four floors so quickly. Take this material as payment."

Jiang Zhaoyue was stunned. A purple-quality material, and one dropped from a level 35 Rare Boss at that, was worth a fortune.

Although Crescent Moon Territory wasn't poor, purple-quality crafting materials weren't things one saw every day.

She quickly waved her hands, her tone sincere: "Lord Lin, this is too valuable. We only helped scout the way; you guys were the main force the whole time..."

Feng Qingyan watched the bone from the side, her eyes wide. She turned to Lin Feng, her voice full of wonder: "Lord Lin, you're way too generous! Giving away purple materials just like that?"

"Sister Jiang, don't decline! Lord Lin isn't lacking for these!"

"Look at his gear—purple belt, purple leggings, purple shoes, purple weapon, purple forehead band. He's purple all over! How could he be short on materials?"

Lin Feng smiled and pressed the bone into Jiang Zhaoyue's hand: "Take it."

Jiang Zhaoyue looked down at the bone emitting a dark purple glow in her hand, then looked back up at Lin Feng.

His expression was calm. He wasn't being polite, nor was he giving charity; he simply felt that she deserved this item.

She took a deep breath, tucked the bone away, and cupped her fists: "Thank you, Lord Lin."

Lin Feng waved his hand and took out the second piece of bone.

This one emitted a warm, pale gold light. Its surface was as smooth as jade and felt warm to the touch, the complete opposite of the first piece.

"Yu Rou." Lin Feng turned to Su Yurou. Su Yurou was standing between Zhao Hu and Tie Dun, still holding her blue crystal staff. Hearing Lin Feng call her, she quickly stepped forward.

"When I go to Town Mountain City this time, I'll see if there's a blacksmith who can forge a purple staff. If there is, I'll have a staff made for you."

Su Yurou was stunned. A purple staff—her current blue crystal staff was only blue quality. While it was sufficient, it was a whole tier below purple quality.

A purple staff would not ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) only significantly increase her healing output but also enhance the recovery effect of the Blessing of All Living Beings.

Su Yurou opened her mouth to say thank you, but her throat felt blocked, and she only managed a few muffled syllables. She lowered her head and gripped her blue crystal staff tightly.

Tie Dun watched from the side and grinned: "Miss Su, you must be thrilled! A purple staff! I haven't even seen what a purple staff looks like!"

Zhao Hu also nodded, a smile on his face: "Yu Rou, you earned it. Over these past few floors, if it weren't for you healing us from the back, we would have been done for long ago."

Su Yurou took a deep breath and nodded vigorously, her tone firm: "Thank you, Lord. I definitely won't let this staff go to waste."

Lin Feng smiled and said nothing more.

He turned, his gaze sweeping across their faces: "Alright, let's head out."

Everyone nodded and followed him toward the entrance of the fourth floor.

Tie Dun walked in front with his shield on his back, his stomach starting to growl again.

Feng Qingyan walked beside Jiang Zhaoyue, still whispering things like "Lord Lin is so generous."

Jiang Yelan walked at the very back of the group, her shadow moon blade swaying gently at her waist, her footsteps so light they were almost silent.

Lin Feng led the way, carrying Mordred's memory fragment and with his Wildfire Spear slung across his back.

His pace was steady, neither hurried nor slow.

Behind them, the light curtain leading to the fifth floor still shimmered with a pale blue light at the end of the fourth floor.

The Shadow Assassins were still waiting in the shadows, and the dagger emblem on the stone door was still dripping three drops of blood.

But those were matters for later. For now, it was time to go back and eat.
