Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop
Chapter 254: Spell Deflection
Second shot. Lin Feng ducked to avoid it, the ray grazing the top of his head and singeing a few strands of hair.
Third shot. He leaped, and the ray passed beneath the soles of his feet.
Fourth shot, fifth shot, sixth... Mordred's hands moved faster and faster, the Dark Rays becoming increasingly dense, but Lin Feng wove through the gaps, narrowly avoiding each one.
Twentieth shot! Lin Feng dodged fifteen; four were parried by his Wildfire Spear, the shaft blocking the rays.
-34, -34, -34, -34. The damage was so low it was negligible.
But he didn't fully dodge one. The ray grazed his left arm, corroding a hole in his leather armor and leaving a charred scar on his arm.
-400.
His health bar dropped by a tenth. Lin Feng didn't even flinch, his pace never faltering as he continued to close in.
He finally reached Mordred. The Wildfire Spear thrust forward, its tip wreathed in blazing flames, aiming straight for the necromancer's chest.
Mordred couldn't dodge. His purple shield lit up, and as the spear tip struck it, ripples spread across its surface!
【Spell Deflection】 activated, acting as a physical parry.
The spear tip was deflected, sliding to the side and consuming only about a hundred points of the shield's value.
Lin Feng retracted his spear and immediately followed up with a second thrust.
This time, he increased his power, the spear moving faster and at a more cunning angle.
Mordred's Spell Deflection activated again, consuming another hundred points of the shield.
Third strike!
As Lin Feng thrust the Wildfire Spear, his body spun suddenly, channeling all his strength into this single blow.
The spear tip struck the shield with a piercing screech of friction. Spell Deflection failed.
The spear tip pierced the shield without resistance, heading straight for Mordred's chest.
-550!
Mordred let out a low growl, stumbling back two steps.
He looked down at his chest; the shield had absorbed all the damage.
He looked up, and for the first time, something other than indifference appeared in his eerie green eyes.
Rage!!!
Lin Feng estimated the shield's consumption.
One hundred for the first strike, one hundred for the second, and five hundred and fifty for the third. Mordred's shield value still had at least two thousand three hundred remaining.
With a shield of about three thousand, he had taken down roughly a quarter. And Mordred hadn't even activated Shield Resonance yet.
He couldn't delay any longer.
Out of the corner of his eye, Lin Feng saw Feng Qingyan's Wall of Fire still burning five hundred meters away. Everyone had already retreated to a safe distance.
Tie Dun was waving at him, and Feng Qingyan was shouting something he couldn't hear.
This is enough!
Lin Feng activated his skill again. His figure vanished instantly, turning into a streak of flaming light. Following the trajectory of his spear's glow, he passed through the Wall of Fire and landed steadily beside the others.
Upon landing, flames splashed, and a circle of scorch marks was blasted into the ground within a five-meter radius.
He gained a damage-reduction shield that would last for ten seconds.
Tie Dun's eyes widened. "Lord! You just flew straight over from there?"
Feng Qingyan was also stunned, forgetting to extinguish the flames on her staff. "You passed through my Wall of Fire? And you're completely fine?"
Lin Feng stowed his spear, a slight smile playing on his lips, but he didn't explain.
He turned to look at the high platform five hundred meters away. Mordred stood there, his eerie green eyes staring in their direction.
The surrounding Undead Army was regrouping, and the Wall of Fire was finally dying down.
"Retreat first," Lin Feng said. "We'll talk once we're safe."
The others didn't ask any more questions and followed him toward the entrance to the fourth floor.
Behind them, the footsteps of the Undead Army surged like a tide, but no one looked back.
...
The group retreated in one breath to a gentle slope three miles away from the White Bone Platform.
The Undead Army didn't pursue. Those dense ranks of Skeleton Soldiers regrouped beneath Mordred's platform, five five-hundred-man squares standing silently on the plain.
Tie Dun threw his shield to the ground and sat down with a thud, gasping for breath like a bellows.
"Scared the life out of me... Over two thousand skeletons. I thought I was going to be done for here today."
He wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, only to realize his hands and face were drenched.
Feng Qingyan squatted on the ground, leaning on her staff. The flame on the fire crystal had dimmed significantly, as if it were exhausted too.
She looked up at Lin Feng, her eyes shining with unabashed admiration.
"Lord Lin, that last strike was so cool! And if it weren't for your shield, a squishy mage like me would've been turned into bone meal by those Skeleton Archers. From now on, you're the person I, Feng Qingyan, respect the most!"
Lin Feng smiled but didn't respond.
Jiang Zhaoyue stood a little further away, her silver moon sky spear planted in the ground, her gaze fixed on the blurry figure atop the distant White Bone Platform.
Her expression was calm, but her fingers tightened slightly around the shaft of her spear.
That scene just now had indeed left her with lingering fear—not for herself, as with her strength, it wouldn't be too difficult to carve a path through the Undead Army as long as the Level 35 Rare Boss didn't intervene.
But Feng Qingyan and Shi Pojun couldn't. Although their levels weren't low and their equipment was good, their chances of survival would be minuscule once surrounded by over two thousand undead with five Undead Knights on the flanks.
If they had fallen here, it wouldn't have just been the loss of two core members for Jiang Zhaoyue, but the loss of half ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) the foundation of the Crescent Moon Territory.
She turned, walked up to Lin Feng, cupped her fists, and said solemnly, "Lord Lin, thank you." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Lin Feng waved it off. "We're comrades-in-arms. No need for thanks."
Zhao Hu squatted on a rock, wiping the black undead blood from his bone-crushing greatsword with a rag.
After a few wipes, he looked up and asked the question everyone wanted to know: "Lord, what's next? Do we retreat or fight?"
Lin Feng didn't answer immediately. He gazed at the grayish-white undead formation three miles away.
His gaze swept over the orderly ranks of Skeleton Soldiers, finally landing on Mordred atop the platform.
"Fight," he said, and then his gaze swept over everyone.
"Mordred's Undead Scourge is an ultimate move; its cooldown must be very long.
As long as we clear out this Undead Army before his next cooldown finishes, killing Mordred will be easy."
Tie Dun paused, his eyes lighting up. "Just like the tactic we used at the Yellow Turban Stronghold last time?"
Lin Feng nodded. "Similar, but this time, I won't be alone."
He looked at Jiang Zhaoyue and Jiang Yelan.
"Ye Lan and Lord Jiang will join me this time. With their strength, they can easily escape even if surrounded by the Undead Army while I draw Mordred's fire."
Lin Feng paused and looked at Jiang Zhaoyue. "Lord Jiang, care to join?"
Jiang Zhaoyue didn't hesitate. "Lord Lin's tactic is very feasible. I'm willing to cooperate."
