You either erupt in the silence, or you perish in it.

It was a night of no words—only screams!

The next morning, when Xu Yun woke up, the beauty by his side was already gone.

He grabbed his phone and saw a text from Gao Wenwen.

[Thanks for last night. I had a great time.]

[I have a class this morning, so I headed to school. Remember to turn off the AC when you leave.]

Xu Yun was speechless.

’I was clearly the one who slept with her, so why does it feel like *she* slept with *me*?’

After washing up, Xu Yun made himself a bowl of noodles in her apartment and ate.

After practicing a set of Eight Pieces of Brocade to recover, he finally headed home.

As he was riding the elevator, he suddenly saw a note taped to the wall.

"To a certain resident in this building: next time you’re having ’fun,’ please be more considerate. You were too loud last night and woke up my kid."

Xu Yun felt a wave of inexplicable awkwardness upon seeing it.

’They can’t be talking about me and Gao Wenwen, can they?’

’Is the soundproofing in this building really that bad?’

Gao Wenwen’s reactions last night had indeed been a bit much. He wasn’t sure if her body was just naturally sensitive or if she had been putting on a show for him.

It had gotten him all fired up, and he’d completely forgotten it was her first time, showing no tenderness at all.

’Looks like I’ll have to be more careful if there’s a next time.’

’Then again, there might not be a next time!’

Xu Yun tore the note down, stuffed it into his pocket, and headed out of the complex.

It was one thing for him to see it, but if a woman like Gao Wenwen came home from work and saw it, she’d die of embarrassment on the spot.

After leaving the complex, Xu Yun thought that he couldn’t just sleep with her and give nothing in return, even if she had been the one to ask for it.

A man couldn’t be that shameless.

He stopped when he passed a flower shop, thinking he should probably send her a bouquet.

’But I don’t know what school she teaches at, or what class.’

Xu Yun picked up his phone and called Zheng Yi.

"Hey, Xu Yun. What’s up?"

"I just wanted to ask, what school does Teacher Gao teach at? And what grade and class?"

"Jianghuai High School, where we used to go. She’s the homeroom teacher for Class Three of the first-years." Zheng Yi asked, puzzled, "Why do you ask?"

"No reason, just curious. I’m hanging up."

Xu Yun hung up, walked into the flower shop, and asked the owner, "Do you guys deliver?"

In a small town, it wasn’t a service every flower shop offered.

"We don’t, handsome,"

the owner said with a smile. "But if you want to send flowers, you can use a delivery service."

"Can you give me the contact info for one?"

"My husband runs a delivery service. Just tell me where you need them sent."

Xu Yun was speechless.

’Alright, alright. So you’re going to get two payments out of me, is that it?’

"Please make a bouquet of 99 roses and send it to Gao Wenwen, the teacher for Class Three of the first-years at Jianghuai High School."

"Sure, no problem."

Hearing the order for 99 roses, the owner asked enthusiastically, "Do you want to include a card with a message?"

"No need."

Xu Yun asked, "How much is the total?"

"The flowers plus delivery come to 300 yuan, handsome."

After paying and choosing an arrangement, Xu Yun took a taxi to the Imperial Court Hotel, got in his sports car, and drove home.

Seeing Xu Yun only return close to noon, Zhang Sujuan asked, "Which friend’s house did you sleep at last night?"

"You wouldn’t know them even if I told you."

"Was it a guy or a girl?"

"A guy."

Xu Yun lied, "We stayed up all night watching a game."

"Then go see Chen Xin across the hall."

"Why?"

Zhang Sujuan said, "It looked like she needed you for something. She waited for you all last night, but you never came home."

"Oh."

Xu Yun went to Chen Xin’s door and knocked.

"Coming."

Chen Xin opened the door, wearing an oversized pajama set and looking at Xu Yun with sleepy eyes.

She looked like she hadn’t fully woken up.

"My mom said you were looking for me?"

"Yeah," Chen Xin mumbled, rubbing her eyes.

"What time did you go to bed last night? You look exhausted. You even have dark circles."

As Xu Yun spoke, he saw his mom looking over nosily, so he decisively stepped inside and shut the door.

Zhang Sujuan was speechless.

Inside, Chen Xin yawned and answered, "I was writing last night and lost track of time. By the time I looked up, the sun was already out."

"You’ve only slept for a few hours, then."

Hearing this, Xu Yun said with a laugh, "Go back to bed and get some more sleep. Be careful you don’t die from exhaustion."

"It’s fine, I’ll just splash some cold water on my face."

"Go to sleep."

Xu Yun said, "I’m going to sleep too. Whatever you need, we can talk about it when we wake up."

"You’re sleeping here too?"

"Mhm, I’ll sleep with you. I’m not fully awake either."

"For us to do that... isn’t that a bit inappropriate...?"

Chen Xin’s sleepiness vanished in an instant, and her face flushed red.

"What are you thinking about? When I said I’d sleep with you, I didn’t mean in the same bed."

Seeing her reaction, Xu Yun knew she had misunderstood. "You sleep in the bedroom, I’ll take the sofa," he said, exasperated.

"Oh." Chen Xin didn’t know whether to feel happy or disappointed.

She glanced at Xu Yun, returned to her room, and closed the door.

Lying in bed, her heart was in turmoil.

She had no idea what Xu Yun was really thinking.

’If he wanted to sleep, why not just go back to his own place? It’s right next door; it’s not far.’

’Why did he have to sleep on her sofa?’

’Or was he actually making a move on her? Did he have... ideas about her?’

’If he really does have feelings for me, what if he suddenly comes into my room later and tries to... do *that*? What would I do?’

’Should I give in, or not?’

And so, Chen Xin’s mind raced with wild thoughts as she stared, unblinking, at her unlocked bedroom door.
